@giorjett13 Chinchivi is the name of the song. and it's a liquor. He is performing a drunk afroperuvian guy who drank chinchivi and was trying to flirt with the lady.
Thanks for your comments, G1947Latin. We African Americans [in the United States] use "Black" {or "black"} as an informal group referent for African Americans and other people who have black African descent. In doing so we reclaim some words that used to be offensive-though I don't think we should try to reclaim other offensive words. But I don't want this conversation to detract from my appreciation of this great song! Best wishes!
Glad to see people being interested in learning about different nations and cultures. Thanks for calling my country "beautiful" Azizip. It may not be all bells-and-whistles but it's a friendly place.
Thanks for that information, beatlerob. Btw, as a Black American, I don't think "Black" is offensive but I suppose it depends alot on the context and the intent. Best wishes, Azizi
Black itself is not offensive. But in the United States is ok to use it but not in LatinAmerican cause was used in an offensive manner by the Spanish conquistadors..so people perceive that word as offensive. Specially the Afro-LatinAmericans, its better to say moreno or negrito.
Thanks for posting this video and sharing Afro-Peruvian culture with the rest of the world. It seemed as though that was a courting dance with the man trying to flirt with the woman and the woman pretending not to be interested. Is that right? I'm assuming that "Negrito" means "Black". I'd love to know what "Chinchivi" means and what that song is about. Is it in Spanish? Thanks again,
-from a USA soul sister who sincerely regrets her ignorance of Afro-Latin cultures.
Chinchivi it's a drink, while "Negrito" it's a gentle way to say "black" without being offensive. The lyrics say something like "Negro goes crazy when he drinks Chinchivi" :) The flirting dance in where the lady doesn't seem to be interested is the MARINERA, Festejo is a bit funny :D
haha
mientras veía el video
estaba bailando en mi asiento :D
