  • Some tips for faster computing:

The laptop can respond faster if you kill explorer.exe (all child processes) from task manager and create a new explorer.exe process. This will ensure all the unnecessary processes are killed and the laptop runs quite well. Also prefer the sleep option to hibernate the laptop instead of shut down during the day time which helps the programs to settle down and gives more room to run themselves faster. Make sure your virtual memory is 1.5 times your RAM.

  • @pratikyt thank you very much for the tip sir. appreciate that. Next year, when its warranty is up, i plan to put a SSD with just the OS on it to boot up. it seems there are tray's for two HDD in the system.

  • Hey can you take out that bumpy thing at the bottom of the computer if you don't want it?

  • @JoeOf91 its a 9 cell battery. it has its advantages. Good airflow underneath the laptop, the woofer sound gets out better, you get a slightly inclined keyboard for better ergonomics and its a good grip t hold on to when you want to carry it around. its not good when you want to slide it into a sleeve.

  • this is a desktop replacement laptop so may be it's heavy but still elegant

  • Is that the 1600*1200 screen?

  • @furzflamme no, its not

  • @badrinathknair so thats the full hd? :D

  • i know its a weird question, but how is the mousepad? is the left and right clicks soft, or is it making a click sound??

  • @BlingJeppe the mouse/touch pad is fantastic. its big enough and not over sensitive nor under sensitive. perfect. the buttons clicks just fine, but i hate to say this, the number 3 on the num pad does not work sometimes. something wrong with the button underneath. :-(

  • Damn that screen is sooo plastic. When he opened it, the screen flexed like hell. Looked cheap as hell. How is the built quality on this thing? I am thinking of buying the 3d version with sandy bridge...

  • @Peacefulhumanbeing i would agree with you that the build quality is not that fantastic.

  • @Peacefulhumanbeing this is a 17.3 inch screen.there will be a little bit of flex on it but build quality is not 100% on this machine. I bet there are better built machines out here. I always keep it on a table and use and never carry it. so its perfect for me. waiting for a sandybridge proc is a good idea.

  • @badrinathknair how much?

  • @Izmettosprunguli 860 Pounds

  • @badrinathknair a bit heavy for a laptop no?

  • @PurpleHerpe its a 17.3 inch laptop so its not light. you cannot keep it on your lap and work on it. its suitable for keeping it on a desk and working.

  • @badrinathknair Hey where did you buyed that xps 17 cuz I wan't to buy it and, is your xps with upgrades? Cud you show some gameplays maybe.Like Call of duty black ops,Assassin's creed brotherhood, gta 4 and such better games

  • @Izmettosprunguli I dont play games on this machine mate. its for video editing. I bought this in UK.

  • i ordered this laptop :P cant wait damnn.. its looking awesome

  • Can we play games in 3D on it?

  • @Tejas999Baing no we cant. the screen does not support it.

  • @badrinathknair Dell does offer an option for a 3d screen for the XPS 17, but I believe you need to special order it.

  • @Tejas999Baing you can, if you get it with the new 1080p 3D screen

  • This was great, thanks!

  • You should rename this video to Review instead of unboxing. I have been looking for a video review for a few days now and could never find any until I just happened to come across this. You give more information here than any other video I have seen form other users. I believe I will be ordering one of these with the new sandy bridge processor within the next couple months.

  • @FFXIvoorhees Thank you. Hope you enjoy the new laptop

  • Any problems of it getting too hot?

Any problems of your wrist blocking the speakers when using the keyboard?

Any problems with seeing the screen from various angles?

  • @antau3

IT has never got hot. no matter what intensive program I use.

When ever i want to watch movies or so, my hands are off the keyboard. But the sound is fantastic.

The screen is great. Viewing angles from side to side is very wide, but from top to down is not that great.

  • hi it's really nice to see that a machine you have is very powerful. i just want to know about the battery it 9 cell tell how long it goes while you are worikng on it like ms office auto cade how many hours it runs.

and how long it goes when you entertain yourself while watching movies playing games and browsing on internet. tell me as soon as possible because i want to buy it but first i want to satisfied my self about the battery.

  • @bankaloo working with MS office and stuff, easily you can get around 2.5 hours out of it.

when you stream videos on line then its for 1.5 hours. watching downloaded movies 2 hours +.

    battery life is great!

  • thanks man, was really helpful, just bought one!

  • @epoch1988 i made a mistake while explaining. I mistook the power port for a display port. Hope you liked your new machine.

  • NO man, this one does not have the backlit keyboard

  • Did you get the Backlit Keyboard?

  • Thanks for uploading another man :D
