I agree that Grey 17 was an over all weak episode, though the Minbari stuff was more interesting than the Garibaldi parts. I definitely liked John Vickery's characterization of Neroon. He also played the oily Mr Welles at the end of the second season and, apparently, originated the role of Scar in The Lion King.
It really was disappointing that the Neroon-character was killed in "The Wheel of Fire". But the "great maker", as JMS is often called by B5 fans, had other plans.
It would have been great if Neroon became the new B5 ambassador at the end of the show the way Vir and Ta'Lon did (I could totally see him in that long shot).
@larsedvartl But, it had to end that way. Neroon was the only one other than DeLenn who could make that sacrfice and reunite his people. Also, that sacrifice and his declaring for the religious caste balanced the transformation of his mentor Brynner, from priest to head of the warrior caste, and the sacrifice of his life for his people's.
@uberlutra Really? He was in every season but the fifth, and his character was just as instrumental to the arc as either Sheridan or DeLenn. Moreover, his entire story dealt with the theme of balance and transformation: his transformation at the end to balance Brynner's, his caste healing the social divide the religious caste caused(or at least exacerbated), his bringing about a new Grey Council to replace the one DeLenn had broken, etc.
@gregxiu I don't think of Neroon as a dark character at all. What he was was an equal and opposite of DeLenn, just as Londo was Sheridan's equal and opposite.
One of the best and most hilarious scene in on of sci-fi's best series. Marcus still had that dry British wit even on death's door.
But I caught that line, "Maybe we are not of the same blood, but we ARE of the same heart"...Oh, if only Sinclair could've walked in at that moment and said, "Well actually about the same blood......."
Marcus and Neroon could have been friends, given a bit more time and interaction... Sad that Neroon had to die.

LOL! Delenn and Lennier can only imagine what Marcus said or did to convince Neroon not to kill him!

We are the Rangers.
We walk in the dark places few will enter,
we stand at the bridge and no one will cross,
we do not run from battle, no matter the cost
we live for the one
we die for the one

Has anyone noticed the Minbari Warriors armor looks like Samurai armor?
smcneal057 2 years ago 12
Seems like the Minbari were inspired by the Japanese in a lot of ways.
msanniemc 2 years ago 2
@smcneal057 Their bald heads and headbones also look a lot like the samurai haircut. I don't think the resemblance is accidental.

Actually, the episode (Grey 17 is Missing) was kind of crap. This part of it redeemed the whole.
Stile4aly 3 years ago 4
JMS also said himself that he wasn't particularly fond of 'Grey 17 Is Missing.' and that it was only done to fill the episode quota for the series

Neroon was was of the best characters on the show. They should have had him on more and they NEVER should have killed him off!

@toddsmitts Characters like Neroon are designed to die a noble death. It's what all the best knights do.

I wanted to see more of Neroon's character in this show, he had sort of a dark(not evil) mystique about him.
