Russia does have some great aircraft but there big problem is that there fliers are lacking in flight time. And there aircraft cannot be maintained at the same levels as the US. even the Russian military would tell you that. @Vanadium Nothing happens to most modern Russian helicopters because they never end up getting fielded in significant numbers in the first place. Only about 10 Ka-50's were built, 16 Ka-52, 48 Mi-28. They're still in prototype state. Russia's military budget is nowhere near USA's budget, 52 billion vs 687 billion in 2010. Russia's GDP isn't anywhere near USA's GDP, which explains the budget difference. China, France, UK have a larger budget as well. Japan is at the same level as Russia

@computerguydk Yes, when you fly KA-50 ones you wont fly any other helicopter. Its so very easy to control its took 20 minutes to learn how to startup KA-50 and 5 minutes for KA-52. Its so maneuvrable it has Gforce instrument.

@Talshet In that case I recommend you try "DCS:Black Shark 2", it's a Ka-50 simulator developed by a Russian company. It's quite realistic. Currently on sale for 27USD (until january 9 2012) on their website (digitalcombatsimulator d o t com).

In Abuh Dhabi Tank contest/demonstration the T90 won 6/10 comparison.M1A2 lost his chains and can only won 1/10 comparisons, the Leopard and Challanger 2 was better than M1A2 and T90 won the contest/demonstration.In Malaysian tank contest no other tank than T90 traveld 3000km through the Malaysian jungle, M1A2, Leopard2 and other tanks dont joint this comparison because they are to heavy and less off-road capability.

But the AH-64D is a much more proven system that had all of it's bugs & "child diseases" worked out. The later Mi-28 versions might be better, but not now.

Better avionic, much better armor, the Mi24 has better armor than AH64, it has ejection seats, the exhaust of Mi28 is 40 times smaller than usual, the AH64 is only 2,5 times smaller it can be tracked from each heat seeking old system, Mi28 can not be tracked only at 500 meters. Mi28 has more powerfull weaponary. The FLIR is like the Su25 FLIR an can track targets faster than anyother.
@Talshet I respectfully disagree on the Mi-24/28/35 being better than the AH-64D. The reason is none of them have mast mounted radars. This is crucial for an attack helicopter because it can hide behind targets while firing it's missiles. It makes it much more effective & much more survivable.
The Mi-24 & all it's variants are not effective attack helicopters, they aren't even designed to be that. They are made to be multi-purpose helicopters. To carry troops then provide some supporting fire.

The new Mi24 Superhind is uptodate and has much better electronic/radar/FLIR than any other Helicopter. It has better survivability than Apache does. Its faster, more maneuvrable, can carry 8 full armed troops, the exhaust tempreture is much less than Apache. It has many systems to avoid or defent the crew from missiles. Check the characteristics of Mi24 Superhind its better.
@Talshet And as for the Mi-24 of any model carrying 8 troops, this is rare. It severely limits the performance of the aircraft thus resulting in higher attrition rates.
The Apache is more maneuverable than either the systems & actually has a radar system for acquiring targets mounted on it's top allowing it to stay hidden but still kill.
That is one of the reasons why the Indians chose the AH-64D over the Mi-28N.

@computerguydk Yes, when you fly KA-50 ones you wont fly any other helicopter. Its so very easy to control its took 20 minutes to learn how to startup KA-50 and 5 minutes for KA-52. Its so maneuvrable it has Gforce instrument.

@Talshet Just so you know, India held a tender for picking 22 new attack helicopters & the AH-64D & Mi-28N were pitted against each other & the Mi-28N failed on 20 counts. So they went with the AH-64D of course. I am not saying which is better I am just presenting facts.

In Abuh Dhabi Tank contest/demonstration the T90 won 6/10 comparison.M1A2 lost his chains and can only won 1/10 comparisons, the Leopard and Challanger 2 was better than M1A2 and T90 won the contest/demonstration.In Malaysian tank contest no other tank than T90 traveld 3000km through the Malaysian jungle, M1A2, Leopard2 and other tanks dont joint this comparison because they are to heavy and less off-road capability.

Better avionic, much better armor, the Mi24 has better armor than AH64, it has ejection seats, the exhaust of Mi28 is 40 times smaller than usual, the AH64 is only 2,5 times smaller it can be tracked from each heat seeking old system, Mi28 can not be tracked only at 500 meters. Mi28 has more powerfull weaponary. The FLIR is like the Su25 FLIR an can track targets faster than anyother.

@Talshet I respectfully disagree on the Mi-24/28/35 being better than the AH-64D. The reason is none of them have mast mounted radars. This is crucial for an attack helicopter because it can hide behind targets while firing it's missiles. It makes it much more effective & much more survivable.
The Mi-24 & all it's variants are not effective attack helicopters, they aren't even designed to be that. They are made to be multi-purpose helicopters. To carry troops then provide some supporting fire.

The new Mi24 Superhind is uptodate and has much better electronic/radar/FLIR than any other Helicopter. It has better survivability than Apache does. Its faster, more maneuvrable, can carry 8 full armed troops, the exhaust tempreture is much less than Apache. It has many systems to avoid or defent the crew from missiles. Check the characteristics of Mi24 Superhind its better.

@Talshet And as for the Mi-24 of any model carrying 8 troops, this is rare. It severely limits the performance of the aircraft thus resulting in higher attrition rates.
The Apache is more maneuverable than either the systems & actually has a radar system for acquiring targets mounted on it's top allowing it to stay hidden but still kill.
That is one of the reasons why the Indians chose the AH-64D over the Mi-28N.

Mi24,Mi28 KA50/52 are more maneuvrable than AH64 and Tiger from Eurocopter is much more maneuverable than AH64. The AH64 concept is outdated it has never seen air to air combats the Mi24 seen and its the most succesfull Attack Helicopter known. It has seen more than 20 battlefields and combats AH64 has only 2. The survivability of AH64 is less than Mi24

The only air to air victories the Mi-24 has seen has been in the Iran-Iraq War. Which really isn't that good.
The AH-64D has been in Gulf War 1, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Gulf War 2, Libya, many wars in Israel, Djibouti, Panama, & many more.
It AH-64D's mast mounted radar makes it very valuable. But why is it then that the AH-64D beat the Mi-28N in India on 20 counts?

And the Mi24 is not only the more maneuverable helicopter than AH64 it has the newst and superior electronic and counter measure systems.

And the Russian Helicopters are the only with the best armor and survivability and they got ejection seats all of them Mi28,Ka50and Ka52. Noone of western Helicopters has things like that.Mi28 got IR supressing system about 80-23 degrees supressed Apache has over 180 degrees. Mi28 can carry crashed pilots in the backside.
