Nice review. I am planning to buy this gun sometime this week. I have heard that it is really good for being plastic. I hope it is as good as I expect. :)
Bonus points for having Queen in the background. CA sportlines have a bad rep, but I think they are a way better upgrade platform than clones. First of all CAs bodies aren't cheap plastic and secondly you get the trades minus the unique serial number (there all generic) to cut down on the cost. If I had to complain about anything it's that they give you plastic bushings and no LE stock, but for 120$, what can you do?
@InfuriatedKIDD The center of the target in these tests is just a reference point to put the sights on. The thing to note here is the size of the groupings.
hey i have just brought one, i am wondering if i can customise the externals of the gun. if i can then i am also unsure if u can attatch m16 and m4 accsessories, i.e ris/ras. many thanks and can u reply asap :D amazing review.
@XEpicVengencex As far as rails go, you can attach rails to the top and bottom of the foregrip, and there's a rail under the carrying handle. You can also replace the foregrip with a RIS foregrip. There's tons of other parts and accessories for M4s, check around the airsoft sites.
@koolj2233 CA calls all its M16 style guns M15s. The M4s are "M15 carbines" and the M16s are "M15 rifles." Maybe it's to get around copyright laws or customs regulations, I don't know.
@bleucheeze06 Well some of the real Armalite AR-15/M4 rifles are called M15's. Its an Armalite thing, no other real AR-15 manufacturer does that. Classic Army M4's are licensed by Armalite if I'm not mistaken.
hy, i have a question and a i need a quick answer in post please. I have this gun but i don't know how much time i should charge it, i'm waiting for an answer please
@yilmazkobeballer Get an Intellect or Elite NiMh battery and smart charger and let the smart charger charge the battery. Until you get that, check the mAh rating on the cheap battery you have and the charge rate on your wall charger.
Battery mAh rating/Charger rate in mAh=charge time in hours
Thats not at all correct the echo one often shoots well over 400 stock. And the JG shoots 330-370 fps. There is a huge difference between the sportline and the proline (x-series) including the bolt catch and a few other little things and you can tell the difference.
o.k. my local airsoft shop has thi gun, only differences are, crane stock and batt.(9.4), RIS railling system. they want $220 for it. im not new to airsoft but not an expert eather. im on a b udget of $250. any suggestions
i got ripped off!!!! i got this sold to me for 250!! then i had to buy a cheap 8.4 battery for 80 dollars!! this is a shitty gun!! if yur gonna buy an m15a4, buy the proline version!!
i just got this gun but i cant figure out how the black flash hider that also comes with goes on because i cant get the orange flash hider off. so my question is how do u take the orange flash hider off?
I don't know I had a ECHO 1 M4 back in January 2008 it was there newest ones at the time and it got about 350fps and it have a small trademark that said "ECHO 1" on it.
i don't own an echo 1, and i'm not cheerleading for them but the echo 1 sounded much better. i'm not making any claims about quality, but those sportlines sounded like crap. maybe you just need a motor height adjustment but they are screaming like chainsaws. and if you want to fix the spring rattling around just install a stronger spring or put a couple of washers around the spring guide.
Hello! I have i problem with mine sportsline m15a4. When I go ahead and install the battery. And when i gonna shoot it sounds it is jaming in the gearbox (klicking nois). I have checked thea battery but is not the battery!Plz help! sry for my bad english..
I NEED HELP. whenever i shoot my gun, it shoots 1 or 2 bbs, then misfires the next 5 or so. This is when it gets weird. on the next shot, it fires out all of the misfired bbs at once, like a shot gun. Help me!
If a different magazine doesn't help, try a new hopup bucking. Make sure your barrel is clean and you're using good high grade BBs. If none of that works try a new hopup unit. One of those things will work unless your gun is seriously screwed up.
Ouch, I think your gearbox got messed up. Sometimes, the bushings get messed up causing the gears to shred. Call the store you bought it from and see if they can help. If not, you'll have to buy replacement internals. New gears, Metal Bushings and Shims, and maybe a new spring...
My friend has a problem with hi M15A4. He can only shoot 3 to 4 shots out of 10 gearbox cycle.I think it's a problem of the piston. Can antone figure out the problem? Also he doesn't know how to open up the gun.Can you teach me that?
The metal body Sportline has the same internals as the plastic bodied Sportline, so see the FAQ for that one. The Proline version can take a 9.6v out of the box.
It could be your barrel is dirty or you need a new hop up bucking. A (clean) tight bore definitely helps but the stock barrel is no worse than any other stock barrel.
Probably, but I don't know for sure if the Sportline body design is exactly the same as the Proline. Might want to check into that before buying a MBK.
Always upgrade to metal bushings!!! It will increase the life of your gun. If you don't know how to upgrade, open up your yellow pages and look for your local Airsoft Repair Shop.
hey i bought a ca sportline m15a4 carbine but after like a week when i recherged the battery i let it charge for 3 hours 40 mins and it was super hot and i took it out when i tried to fire the gun today in the morning there is no sound at all . i checked the connectrors and everything but could it be the fuse?f so how do i check it? i was using .20s and is it the gun or the battery or the fuse? lol sorry i m desperate.
Sounds like you fried your battery. Never let a battery get "super hot." This is why we use smart chargers. It probably isn't the fuse , but to check it just look at the fuse and make sure the piece of metal running through it isn't burned out at all. You probably need a new battery, and you should buy a smart charger with it as well to save the battery.
I've given you a lot of information about the CA M15A4 Carbine Sportline in this video review. I don't know much about other clone manufacturers such as JG. I don't know how the newer clone guns compare to this gun.
(from the video description) (that part was just added)
this was a very good review and i have been thinking about getting this gun for a little while but now u hav convinsed me 2 get the gun from parts 1 and 2 THX
The magazine that comes with the gun is a hicap magazine. There is a trapdoor on the top of the magazine. Slide it towards the front of the magazine to open it up, and you can pour about 300 bbs in there. have the same gun one of my gears broke it sripped two teeth but i was using a 9.6 2400 mah battery but i havent upgraded my bushings yet and they havent quit yet
ok. so i'm on an airsoft team and i was talking to one of the other members about me getting this gun and he said that this gun had bad reviews and that the fps decreases a lot after several times shooting it and he knows better than i do about airsoft. would you recommend this gun?
Yes, I'd recommend it. Both the Sportlines I've used have worked just fine. Any gun will lose FPS after the spring breaks in, that's normal. Our Sportline has worked perfectly for over a year now, and the FPS has settled down to 300ish, which is sufficient for most fields. This is still stock, but you can easily upgrade it to well over 400 FPS with minimal upgrade parts.
There should be a small allen screw underneath the flash hider. Remove that and the flash hider should screw off, or just come straight off. I think that's the way it is with this gun, I don't remember for sure.
There's the bolt release button on the left side of the gun, that's the only external part that moves that doesn't do anything, on the receiver at least.
I don't think the metal Sportline has metal bushings, but I don't know for sure. As far as I know, the plastic and metal Sportlines both have identical internals.
It's always a good idea to have metal bushings as that will lengthen the lifespan of your mechbox. Make sure the battery will fit in your gun and the connector is the right type before you buy the battery.
For the CA M15 series, it shouldn't be... check for a small screw holding it on. If it is glued, twist it harder, or use rubbing alcohol... or heat up the flash hider till it comes off easier... I haven't tried any of those techniques though.
How would I rate it? I've never held the metal Sportline, but my friend says it feels just like the Proline M15A4. It's just got the slightly toned down internals.
Is that good? I just wanted to know because it seemed in your video the only down side I would see is the plastic body. Other than that it seemed great. I'm very new to airsoft, and this is my first gun (besides a $20 spring).
I would assume that the metal sportline is a good value for the money. Again I've never even seen the metal sportline, but you get what you pay for. I don't know about the flash hider, but it probably comes with the metal sportline as well, and it probably goes on the same way as all the other CA M15s do.
Any big airsoft retailer that knows what they're doing would probably do that for you. Look and see if they upgrade guns, and if they do they'll probably build you a custom one. Complete custom guns can get very expensive though... I'm not sure if you want to do that, or if you want to just buy the stock gun and have it upgraded. The second option is what most people do, and it's not nearly as expensive.
Hey bleucheeze06, love the review. I'm one of those damned noobs looking to get into the game and was wondering exactly the bearings and shims do and why it would be worth upgrading them. Thanks for any info!
Haha, good question. The bushings are the pieces that hold the gears in place by the stems. Higher quality/harder bushings hold them tighter, which prevents wobbling and wearing badly. Shims are little spacers between the gears and the mechbox shell that hold them in place. Basically, those 2 parts work together to hold the gears in place so they spin correctly and wear right. Otherwise, things will wear out and break quickly.
wait the guy said that Echo-1/JG guns start at 280 FPS. But most atcually start at the 340-360 FPS range. unless its an upgraded and its around 400FPS.
Yes we've used it in many battles, actually we've given it to several different newbies to use for the day, which is a great test of reliability. Even using Crosman .20g BBs most of the time (not bad, but not really good bbs), the gun has never jammed or broken. We've had the AEG for maybe 8-9 months now. I'd have to say it's pretty darn reliable. Take good care of it and it'll do the same for anyone else.
Haha, yep... and the performance difference between .12g and .20g is huge. Not only will the .12g bbs jam, tear up your hopup, scratch up your inner barrel, and wear out your mechbox shell, piston head, and cylinder head because it's almost like dry firing... the performance with them will suck. NEVER use .12g in anything but airsoft explosives and the cheapest of airsoft guns...
No... they might shoot for a little bit, but they'll screw up your barrel and hop up bucking, and since they're so light it's almost like dryfiring the AEG, so that's your piston and head, and mechbox shell at least. Plus the performance with .12g BBs sucks with AEGs.
If you treat it right, it won't break at all. The body is plastic though so you can't be really rough on it. Yes, get a bottom rail for the foregrip and you can attach an M203 grenade launcher if you really want to.
how do you take off your plastic orange flashhider? mine came w/ a metal one but i cant get the plastic one off and i dont want to break it. i know their anti-clockwise but i cant twist it off.
Nice! Some of the plastic ones hit 350 out of the box too. After a few thousand shots though, on any AEG, the spring will break in and you'll lose some power. (20-30fps usually)

ok. so i'm on an airsoft team and i was talking to one of the other members about me getting this gun and he said that this gun had bad reviews and that the fps decreases a lot after several times shooting it and he knows better than i do about airsoft. would you recommend this gun?
slayerized93 3 years ago
Yes, I'd recommend it. Both the Sportlines I've used have worked just fine. Any gun will lose FPS after the spring breaks in, that's normal. Our Sportline has worked perfectly for over a year now, and the FPS has settled down to 300ish, which is sufficient for most fields. This is still stock, but you can easily upgrade it to well over 400 FPS with minimal upgrade parts.

can someone lemme know how to get the damn flash hider off? my m15a4 came with an extra one and ive been having trouble with the orange one.
murderdoll9191 3 years ago
There should be a small allen screw underneath the flash hider. Remove that and the flash hider should screw off, or just come straight off. I think that's the way it is with this gun, I don't remember for sure.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
i looked on my gun and i dont see any allen screw, any other ideas?
money3140 3 years ago
1. can u press the button behind the ejecting chamber
2. can u take the screw out and open it like the ics m4a1
3. can u ajust both sights up-down lef-right
softairman1994 3 years ago
Yes.
There's lots of screws that open things, which are you talking about?
Rear sight adjusts for elevation and windage, front sight is fixed.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
theres a button in near the handle... um what is that ... like i can pust it in but i dont use it
XairsoftXmasterX 3 years ago
There's the bolt release button on the left side of the gun, that's the only external part that moves that doesn't do anything, on the receiver at least.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
what bullet is best to the m15a4 carbine sportline 0,20 or 0,25g?
suiramrobbie 3 years ago
Whichever you like. Either one will work. It depends on what flight pattern you like.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
is the vietnam mid-cap magazine u mention at the beginning, the G&P brand magazine?
krinkov500 3 years ago
I think so. It's an 85 rounder that came in a 5 pack.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
so if one were to buy a metal sportline would that include metal bushings so that you could use a 9.6v battery with it?
krinkov500 3 years ago
I don't think the metal Sportline has metal bushings, but I don't know for sure. As far as I know, the plastic and metal Sportlines both have identical internals.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
Great review but i dont like sportline versions i would never buy a sl type cuz the plastic parts
AirsoftNederland 3 years ago
You can get a metal Sportline M15A4 for a price about in the middle of the plastic Sportline and metal Proline versions.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
Great Review!!!

It's always a good idea to have metal bushings as that will lengthen the lifespan of your mechbox. Make sure the battery will fit in your gun and the connector is the right type before you buy the battery.

if i use this should i still get metal bushings cus its not 9.6v

I think my orange flash hider is glued on... Is there any way to get it off??
knisleyproductions 3 years ago
For the CA M15 series, it shouldn't be... check for a small screw holding it on. If it is glued, twist it harder, or use rubbing alcohol... or heat up the flash hider till it comes off easier... I haven't tried any of those techniques though.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
I'm buying the exact same gun only it has a metal body. Yes I know, a metal body on a sportline sounds wierd, but how would you rate that?
knisleyproductions 3 years ago
How would I rate it? I've never held the metal Sportline, but my friend says it feels just like the Proline M15A4. It's just got the slightly toned down internals.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
Is that good? I just wanted to know because it seemed in your video the only down side I would see is the plastic body. Other than that it seemed great. I'm very new to airsoft, and this is my first gun (besides a $20 spring).
knisleyproductions 3 years ago
Also, is the black flash hider included with the metal sportline, and how hard is it to put on?
knisleyproductions 3 years ago
I would assume that the metal sportline is a good value for the money. Again I've never even seen the metal sportline, but you get what you pay for. I don't know about the flash hider, but it probably comes with the metal sportline as well, and it probably goes on the same way as all the other CA M15s do.

minihendrix12 3 years ago
Any big airsoft retailer that knows what they're doing would probably do that for you. Look and see if they upgrade guns, and if they do they'll probably build you a custom one. Complete custom guns can get very expensive though... I'm not sure if you want to do that, or if you want to just buy the stock gun and have it upgraded. The second option is what most people do, and it's not nearly as expensive.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
Hey bleucheeze06, love the review. I'm one of those damned noobs looking to get into the game and was wondering exactly the bearings and shims do and why it would be worth upgrading them. Thanks for any info!
bravewilliam 3 years ago
Haha, good question. The bushings are the pieces that hold the gears in place by the stems. Higher quality/harder bushings hold them tighter, which prevents wobbling and wearing badly. Shims are little spacers between the gears and the mechbox shell that hold them in place. Basically, those 2 parts work together to hold the gears in place so they spin correctly and wear right. Otherwise, things will wear out and break quickly.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
So do you know of any place where i can get the rifle custom made where those parts are upgraded?
bravewilliam 3 years ago
wait the guy said that Echo-1/JG guns start at 280 FPS. But most atcually start at the 340-360 FPS range. unless its an upgraded and its around 400FPS.
Im think you've convinced me to buy this gun.

What will be best to use .25g BBs or .20g BBs?
Pinapplemeister 3 years ago
That's really up to you, and how you want the BBs to fly. I would use .25g, but at 320fps, you could go either way.

does the classic army sportline have a removable handle for scope use? does it have r.i.s
RKALAFUT623 3 years ago
the a4 version yes
tallandme13 3 years ago
Have you taken this to a skirmish? some people dont like it because they jam. Is it true?
CaptCamping 3 years ago
Yes we've used it in many battles, actually we've given it to several different newbies to use for the day, which is a great test of reliability. Even using Crosman .20g BBs most of the time (not bad, but not really good bbs), the gun has never jammed or broken. We've had the AEG for maybe 8-9 months now. I'd have to say it's pretty darn reliable. Take good care of it and it'll do the same for anyone else.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
nice video but the new jgs shoot over 400fps
airsoftecho101 3 years ago
Gosh, a JG that goes 400 fps costs 170, a TM that costs roughly 300 shoot 280...The TM out-perform the JGs by a landslide. FPS isn't everything.
SgtIoda 3 years ago
also what battery do you recommend for this gun?
Airsoftplayerssite 3 years ago
is it okey to use .12g bbs in m15a4 classic army??
ZerOwAffLeS 3 years ago
i guess...
Airsoftplayerssite 3 years ago
I have m15a4 rifle and the .12g bb's jam the gun every time, I only use 2.0g now
foxmanchris 3 years ago
no DONT BE CHEAP, with a high fps gun you can make them shatter
AirsoftMarin3 3 years ago
Haha, yep... and the performance difference between .12g and .20g is huge. Not only will the .12g bbs jam, tear up your hopup, scratch up your inner barrel, and wear out your mechbox shell, piston head, and cylinder head because it's almost like dry firing... the performance with them will suck. NEVER use .12g in anything but airsoft explosives and the cheapest of airsoft guns...
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
No... they might shoot for a little bit, but they'll screw up your barrel and hop up bucking, and since they're so light it's almost like dryfiring the AEG, so that's your piston and head, and mechbox shell at least. Plus the performance with .12g BBs sucks with AEGs.

where can you get another mag for this? here in Finland you can't get one, so is there any online store that sells mags for this gun?
Airsoftplayerssite 3 years ago
can you get a grenade launcher for this? Also is the gun good quality, or does it easily broke?
Airsoftplayerssite 3 years ago
If you treat it right, it won't break at all. The body is plastic though so you can't be really rough on it. Yes, get a bottom rail for the foregrip and you can attach an M203 grenade launcher if you really want to.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
how do you take off your plastic orange flashhider? mine came w/ a metal one but i cant get the plastic one off and i dont want to break it. i know their anti-clockwise but i cant twist it off.
shellmina6 3 years ago
There should be a small allen (hex) screw right behind the flash hider. Remove that and the flash hider should come right off, or screw right off.
bleucheeze06 3 years ago
how long do charge your 8.4 v
derekzak2 3 years ago
the metal body version SL hits 360 out of the box!
livinglegend213 3 years ago
Nice! Some of the plastic ones hit 350 out of the box too. After a few thousand shots though, on any AEG, the spring will break in and you'll lose some power. (20-30fps usually)
