  • jaoajaojaoaaojaojaoa

  • of course its true macs have less viruses, because they are less common. But I still love my mac.

  • Yet the first major selfspreading virus was for mac.

The truth is, Macs are less protected, be cause they haven't had many out breaks to show them where their weaknesses are. so in the event that a major mac virus does come out, nearly all macs will catch it.

  • yeah and you remember how it fell off of the market after that, people keep saying that its less popular well that is no longer the case. the security and stability that the new macs have is what has been protecting the mac, the no longer argument is no longer valid.

  • From CNET

Malware crashed systems during Windows security updates

Zeus Trojan found on 74,000 PCs in global botnet

Uh you see a pattern here, bud!

  • @scottskitchen

Yes, but what you don't to notice is that 74000 PCs is like 0.00001% of Windows PCs in the world.

On the other hand, that's a much more sizeable chunk of all the Intel Macs out there, so before you get on your high horse, recognise why Macs have less viruses.

  • @scottskitchen

Not because they are safer or more protected, but because nobody actually bothers coding them because Windows PCs are much more common. Also, there are no major Mac antivirus companies out there trying to scaremonger the general public into buying their products.

  • The real reason is Microsoft just sucks

  • only reason why macs have less virus's is because less people use macs

pc is more popular, as macs get popular

    more virus's haha

  • so true

  • That's one of the reasons, but the biggest reason is security.

I have a mac and it has a virus. Do you know why? it has OS9, not OSX. (my mac is 9 years old and Apple stopped pre-installing OS9 six month after my mac was made)

OS9 had way more viruses than OSX and macs are more popular now than in the days of OS9.

I good reason why OSX is hard to write a virus for is because it's built on UNIX.

There's server program called "Apache" and it's easier to attack the less popular server programs.

  • It also has alot to do with the way the operating systems are set up. Macs are UNIX based so by default users do not have administrative privileges, so running malicious code is not a problem. The same cannot be said for windows users.

  • Which They tried to fix with UAC but it was flawed in the way that it really isnt users fault that mallicious codes were runnung but rather the fundamental flaws in the architecture. Just ended up annoying the users who knew what they were doing. (NTFS is still much better than FAT in the access security though remember 98's viruses?)

  • mac fails

  • theres no viruses for macs cuz no hackers right them for macs.

  • Lmao xD

I like his voice as he crashes xD

  • Hahaha, honto ni omoshiroi. Keep it up, please

  • LOL!

  • Actually there are a handful of Linux viruses. None for the current incarnation of Mac though.

  • ye rite as if macs never have a virus. By the way if you run linux your even safer, never OEM, completly useless for uexperienced people and so on. By the time some virus developer gets the idea to make i linux virus the computers will probably died out

  • "computers will probably died out"... computers aren't a species of animal you know.

And there are very few if any viruses for Macs because there are less mac users, so if you're trying to create something to target lots of people, you go for the majority: PC users with a Microsoft operating system and Internet Explorer. Doesn't mean that macs are more secure for any other reason.

  • @spiderofdoom pc viruses are much easier to make as windows is an "open" os, which allows it to run on different computers. mac os is made for one type of computer, and is much more "closed" than a pc.

  • mono sugoi!

  • thats probably the best in the japanese

  • sugoi
