  • you are a great talent !

  • best joplin player on youtube!

  • nice playing,on all of your videos

  • Tremendous. Each song yo play is played with such passion and emotion. It is truly wonderful.

  • Great song, young man

  • love this, you're so talented!

  • Extraordinary stuff latibes. Love from Wales.

  • Bravo!!!

  • latibes = legendary

  • very cool!

  • Who cares of his origin? He is a very good pianist !

  • A symbol of hope and change in the 1920's and 1930's renaissance.

  • I'm learning this one right now

  • Fantastic!

  • can i use this audio for one of my vids?

  • Yes, sure you can

  • With no sheet music - superb

  • "Arts, crafts and sciences uplift the world of being and are conducive to its exaltation" ~Baha'u'llah

  • I liked it

  • I really don't understand racism. I am white, and that makes me superior? What a stupid thing to say. Seriously.

Say NO to racism, in a modern society something like that can't exist

  • cool

  • Great playing! I used to love Pineapple Rag as a kid but I'd forgotten the tune over the years. This brought back some fine memories.

  • Wowzars! Awsome job bro! :D

  • Very nice job! Im just learning this song, and your video is totally helping me. Thankyou for posting it. =]

  • wow that's really good!! you have great rhythm!!

  • this is a great job!!! Thanks for posting it!

  • Fantastic!! I used to play this piece, and was concerned about mistakes too. A good speech does not lose its quality because of an error here or an error there. The same is with music. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

  • It goes without saying that you are incredibly racist, but if you knew anything about music you would know this piece was written by a black man. Moron.

  • Oh now I understand...

There will be no convincing you but it is clear to me that you are a waste of space, food and body heat.

  • I totally agree with you! :)

  • what is wrong with you...

just because they have different colored skin doesn't make them different. You should be shot and buried far under the Earth.

  • Critically agreed.

  • you make me disappointed in the human race...

  • @AttackElves2 attackelves2? i know hes a idiot

    a grand idiot he was

    but attackelves2 is uneducated...

he should go back to jerking off

and attackelves2's dont deserve the rights they have today

    oh attackelves2

  • very good

  • holy shit!!!mozart reincarnation!! lol very nice i liked it very much!!!

  • first African American I've seen playing African American ragtime in modern times! You rock!

  • Hello,

This gentleman is from the U.K.

  • TrancerB7: He's not African American, but African British.

  • I like this the best because you played the left part lightly. Which is what i think a rag should sound like. Light-hearted and jumpy ^.^ Suitable speed and well-illustrated. I'm really impressed because you brought out the semiquavers in left part in the 2nd movement when the right is sustaining. But i sensed a few slips.. Haha. NICE!!!

  • This made me start dancing - love it!

  • work at exposition of ur left hand, 5 stars ; ) It's nice.

  • awesome

  • Very well done! whens your next video gonna be eh? I look forward to it very much.

  • Thanks Latibes! I play this one too. I n my opinion, the pineapple is the best ragtime of all.

  • I liked your play style, even though I never heard Joplin I read that he played somewhat on the slow side but consistent. That's what this is. Keep it up

  • I love this song, Nice job.

  • very good, what other Joplin do you play?

  • nice piano!

  • latibes you are great! I have played this one too, you can see if you want to, in youtube.

  • no dynamics but okay otherwise

  • sorry, but What do you mean "no dynamics"?

  • by no dynamics i mean that it sounds all the same no difference in the sound level (loud or quiet)

  • hahah thats why there's a volume button so u can make it sound good ;)

  • sorry bad definition

dynamics is a distinction and emphasis on certain notes. crescendos and accents

  • hahaha, very funny

  • omg you DO make sj proud!

and you played it at the RIGHT tempo!!!!

    absolutely GORGIOUSES!

  • For the ex TSO player, this brings back memories, even though they played it too fast in the game. Beautiful playing.

  • A++ Perfect i really like this song.

  • man u make SJ proud with your playing beautiful

  • awesome! i now know the first 2 pages of this by heart. i just need to learn the next 8 or 9 pages...

  • 8 or 9 ????? lol it's only 4 pages long

  • Wow, your piano is so gorgeous, I'm jealous! You do a great job! I love playing ragtime, and this is on my list--I've sight-read it, but need to actually learn it.

  • Awesome job! I'm in the process of learning this song. I thought your tempo was just right, the amount of pedal was just right, and I loved your articulations. The only thing I could suggest is a little more variety in dynamics. In my music there are some dynamics written in, but that could be from the editor not Joplin. But anyways, very nice performance!!!!

  • Fantastic stuff! Great feel. 5 stars.

  • whew! gave me goosebumps it was sooo fantastically done

  • Good job very well palyed could have done to be played a slightly faster think about 120

  • Well played, you do this very well

  • Thanks so much for this video! Very well played, could not have been better!

The first time I listened to this, I had the sheet music for it in front me[I'm learning it myself], so it helped for me to be able to follow along with this... 5/5 !

  • Wow, Nicely Done. The Best Pineapple rag on youtube. I want to learn how to play this now.

  • i finally found a video on this song. I like it alot

  • Yeah yeah yeah. Just great.

  • Bravo!

  • Very nicely done. I'm so glad I discovered the little ragtime community on youtube a couple of weeks ago so I can watch videos like this and get ideas for what I can do to improve my playing style.

  • You make Joplin proud. I didn't think many people but me knew this song.

  • There are many, many, many ragtime performers -- professional ones too. There are several ragtime festivals held throughout the world every year! I have a few compilation clip videos up from two festivals I attended last year: Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival and West Coast Ragtime Festival, both held in northern California. Check them out to see a good sampling of the sort of performers that are out there.

  • would those places be near san francisco

  • Not too far from SF. The huge West Coast Ragtime Festival is in Sacramento at the Red Lion by Arden Fair Mall the weekend before Thanksgiving. Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival is in the old gold rush town Sutter Creek the second weekend of August.

  • I really like the nice relaxed speed and authentic articulation, great classic style.

  • reminds me of the circus or a theme park... fun.

  • Very, very good.

  • We're singing this in select choir, it's by far my favorite song in there. Good job with it!

  • right at the transition to the D part you played a seventh and it was meant to be just the G and E flat

    i believe

  • im now learnin this along wit my nearly mastered song of maple leaf

ummm this one is soo easy to sight read but its beautiful... i really like the C and D parts

  • THANK YOU! You did a really great job. I never see videos of pineapple rag, and it's my favorite rag from Joplin.

  • i love scott joplin too.. i'm thinking of recording Scott joplin Compleate works

  • Ragtime is above me (by which I mean I just can't play it!), but I recognise good ragtime when I hear it. And this, sir, is good ragtime. Very nicely played. A stumble here or there, but altogether, I like it.

  • That was your first take? Man, nicely done. My favorite Joplin rag, and you performed it excellently.

  • some notes didn't sound but it's cool

  • Really nice - and played at a good pace too (not too fast the way so many people play Joplin). I'm currently working hard on learning this piece, and I'll be really happy if I can play it like you do.

  • I do believe this is the first time I've seen the Pineapple Rag recorded. Well played my friend.

  • Noice! It was really good for a first take. I think it could have used a little more spice in terms of speed though. Just a taaad bit faster.

  • "Ragtime should never be played fast" -Scott Joplin (personal preference that I like it at this tempo but I think you're right that many people enjoy it faster.)
