Great movie. Great review. But try to show it to your average nowadays emo vampire shows fan and (who believe that the vampire genre started in the 00s) and they will hate it. I liked it because, among all the reasons you gave, I like the characters a lot. They are not supermodels with hours of make-up, they are normal people. A guy like Charly could easily be your neighbor. Plus it's entertaining (I'm amazed how many movies nowadays lack that quality).

I was born in '87. All you kids that weren't born in the 80's (whether that be 1980-1989) missed out. You can say that you remember all the shows, movies, toys, etc., but in reality, you folks didn't. I love being a 90's kid, watching scary shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark, reading R.L. Stine books, watching Snick on Saturday nights... Nothing better in the world.

@Mr1d10t try the original amityville horror book. its short, and i found it to be a page-turner. one piece of advice however, do your best to forget the movies ever existed. if you read it having never seen any of the crappy movies, then its pretty spooky. but if you're thinking of the movies when you read it, eh... not so much. but worth reading either way...
