Did the Green Ranger ever do that again in Zyu or MMPR? Excepting after he transferred his powers to Jason and, I don't remember another Ranger ever having his shield.
Funny thing is , I find green ranger always look odd/naked without his shield .... although most power rangers look the same beside the colours/helmet variation .... sorta like how the ninja turtles look more naked without their bananas ....
"An Oyster Stew" is one of my favorite MMPR episodes and I liked how Black Ranger got to wear the Dragon Shield. I wish the other Rangers got to in other episodes lik he did. It'd be nice to see what the Pink, Blue and Yellow Rangers also looked like with the Dragon Shield and arm bands on.
Actually this was footage ordered by Saban because he wanted to extend the first season of MMPR but ran out of original footage. The footage was also going to be used to make a second season of Zyuuranger but was never made.
The footage was never planned to be a sequel to Zyuranger, even though Toei did clearly make stories with the footage (Chi Plot in Flytrap for example)
After seeing how well the shield worked with mammoth ranger that probably gave them the idea to put a similar shield on king ranger a.k.a gold ranger in Ohranger a.k.a. Power Rangers Zeo. If you look at the two shields they are not that different.
@jdt3000 That's one of the reasons why I like the KingRanger/GoldRanger from OhRanger/Power Rangers Zeo. Gold and black looks great together. Megaranger had gold armour worn by the entire team, which looked similar too but I haven't seen much of it.
No that's not it. I think it should just go to the Red Ranger or Green. If it can go to all of them shouldn't they have had fights were the Blue, Yellow, or Pink rangers used it. I guess what I meant to say in my first comment was it doesn't make sense to me.
Comment continued. I reckon there was an unaired scene of zyu2 footage where Goushi is returning Burai his armour back as obviously you can see Burai wearing it when he summons Dragon Caesar and also at that part, Burai looks as if he's recovered fine.
I love this bit of zyu2 footage as we get to see Goushi fighting the Oysterizer in the Dragon Armour. I have to wonder if there was any cut zyu2 footage of Goushi returning the Dragon Armour to Burai as in the MMPR Episode, I found it strange for Zack to say that Tommy was all right after being sprayed with acid. I once guessed that as Zack demorphed, Tommy automatically regained his shield to heal himself.
I remember seeing a picture somewhere of this beach scene with Zack sporting the shield, but it was obviously taken stateside and not by Toei during the filming of this. Has anyone else seen it?
When Saban ran out of utilizable Zyuranger footge for MMPR, they contacted Toei and asked for 25 extra battle scenes/storylines. The Zyu2 footage was used ONLY for MMPR and did not air as a sequel to Zyuranger in Japan
I loved how Black Ranger used the Dragon Shield. As a child I got so excited. It was kinda like a foreshadowing of the Gold Ranger. Could this be what inspired Toei to make the King (Gold) Ranger?
Actually, as they were filming this footage, Kakuranger was about to begin production. To keep up with times, it's likely Ohranger was in the drawing board phases.

Also for a Zyuranger fan, there's something very surreal about seeing Goushi sporting the Dragon Armor.
Oh yeah and "Oysterizer's" voice is incredibly lame and irritating, but such is par for the course with Saban.

Anyway, I'd say it was more of a coincidence than anything. Don't forget that this aired a year or two before Zeo's source series Ohranger aired.
I suppose it's possible that this episode INSPIRED the design of Kingranger (after all, it was Toei that filmed this, not Saban), but I doubt it.
