I was merely trying to point out that it is a character and of course they lose it when they come off stage, as do actors. Comedians are actors. But just for you I will name at least one: Robin Williams- he's a neurotic spaz on and off stage- but I love him just the same.

Have you EVER seen Whitley interviewed when he WASN'T twanging it up & being Larry the Cable guy? As far as Robin - he's always all over the place, a cast of thousands, not constantly pretending to be one character.

  • yeah I think some wires are crossed here. I enjoy comedy for comedy's sake. I don't care about what they do off stage as long as they make me laugh on stage. By the way, I've been 'on stage' many times myself. I don't have a 'schtick', but they laugh their asses off just the same.

  • Well, maybe you need to gear your material, perhaps try typing S-L-O-W-E-R. Maybe then he'll get it, that you were referring to him spelling "looser" - as in not tight, as opposed to "loser" - as in not a winner & what he meant. ;o) Creative spelling, a great American past time.

    since he went to a private school in Nebraska until the age of 16, why would he? So in public he always pretends to be someone he's not, I guess figuring that if the people who made him rich realize he berates & makes fun of them by imitating them rather than being one of their own, he might not be so popular or successful.

  • I find it offensive that Larry is a character Dan Whitley created when he wasn't doing so well as himself. Sad, he dis's his own fan base,"dumbs down" his responses in interviews so his southern red neck audience relates... though he's not southern or a red neck, just plays 1 on tv. Since hitting it big I've never seen him as himself, always in character - kind of a fraud.
