THANKS NIKE, CONSIDER FOR THIS AS A SPORT, IN VENEZUELA TO HELP MAKE A LOT OF FAILURE. AS OF 1000 OF BRANDS THAT ARE IN OUR COUNTRY, ONLY 10 Media helps skateboarding.
Peoples' points about the golf and tennis ones not being particularly accurate because they are on a golf course/tennis court are perfectly true. Skaters don't get kicked out of skate parks. However, the running one is the most effective - replace "the moment I do this I'm a criminal" with "the moment I step on a board I'm a criminal", and you have captured public opinion about skaters very well. Skateboards of all kinds are a legitimate form of transportation, and should be treated as such.
The whole point is about equal opportunity for ALL athletes and to eliminate the dangerous factors that make up the public status quo. The fact that when we skate on a piece of "public square" that nobody is using all of a sudden we get kicked out; even when we take a joy ride through downtown we are still stopped. Some of us just like the freedom and why should they take that away. I dont know about you, but to get to the nearest skatepark id have to travel over ten miles. Its absurd really.
How often have you seen skaters kicked out of skate parks? Never. If they abide by the rules then they have little to worry about from the police. Its when they destroy public property and present a public nuisance that they are hassled. They should get over their "I'm a victim" crap.
That's actually a very poignant statement and very true , there are many legitimate sports and pastimes that because they don't necessarily conform get singled out.
In reality it is a mode of transport as legitimate at cycling.
exactly how is skateboardin any diferent than any other sport like we arent aloud to skate downtown but people run downtown and i have never bumped in to people when skateing but runners have bumped into me
@uber0kuhl you can pretend that skateboarding doesn't fuck up public and private property, you can prentend that boards don't go flying into traffic, people etc, but you'd only be lying to yourself, so what's the point? If tried to play a game of tennis in a public square, what would do you think the cops would do?
@floatinginspace100 thats not the point tennis was made to have a court. skateboarding was make to be free & express yourself, unlike tennis which is just something you like to do. a even better example of a sport that is made to express yourself & not to be contained is freerunning or parkkour. which the sport is literally expression threw movement. its a very intense sport & is made to be done everywhere. and people think we are criminals because we jump a wall or do a flip in a public place.
@the80h PARKOUR PARKOUR! but everyone knows freerunning is super gay right ;D by the way this better be john or else you won't understand what i'm talking about
Too true ...

Amazing, show this to the Council in Cape Town, they just passed a law that says Skateboarding on any Road or Pavement in the City is illigal.

Except they were at a tennis court/golf course. When police start kicking skateboarders out of skate parks, you can complain.
