  • you should get a background for your tank to make the turtle feel like there more in the nature

  • @bassboy979 I think I'll have a picture of a shark with its mouth wide open instead. =) I'm sure that will be just lovely!

  • @nerice6 lol that wont scare the turtles at all.

    (sarcasm^^^^^^^)

  • @nerice6 How did you recorded it? With a webcam? And what program did u use.

  • @azzofkowner I recorded it with my camera. I think I just used Windows Movie Maker for this video.

  • One more question: What size tank do you have and what size filter? Thx1

  • cheap 12 cents gold fish will make he tank better its good emergency food and it is fun for your turtles also the turtles chase them when they feel like it and get good excercise and fun :)

  • @CABLETHRASH Goldfish are pretty fatty. I gave them little minnows before. I have a video of it, too. It's pretty fun watching them chase them.

  • you should add 1 or 2 more gallons of water to your tank

  • @Boxers0 Turtles need space between the dock and the light.

  • @nerice6 oh sorry i have a lamp thing that hangs way above the tank! i got confused cuz i didnt know you had that kindof light

  • what is the breed of ur turtles? whats species?

  • @naomiwright27 They're red-eared sliders.

  • i was making airplane sounds when the turtles were swimming in the water lol

  • do you need a special basking light or would a plain fishtank lamp work?

  • @butkicker177 They need a UVA/heat bulb over there basking area and a special 5.0 or 10.0 UVB bulb/strip to mobilize their calcium intake.

  • @butkicker177 I use the light that came with the tank. I give them Reptomin food everyday, which is very good for their calcium and vitamin D (and other vitamins and minerals). You can also take them outside for natural UV light. This all works for my turtles, and I've had them for over 3 years. =)

  • @Hornproduction 10 gallons

  • put some real plants in the man :)

  • @04lody04 I have, but I don't do that very often... it really dirties up the tank.

  • very cute!

  • Ive had a red eared slider for about 6 years and he is twice the size of these guys

  • lol those some fast movin turtles! lol

  • what filter do u use????????????

  • mad fun and im sure at 29secs u see it yawn loll

  • my turtle does that somethimes too

  • nice

  • lol. they look like indecisive little bastards hahaha. theyre not doing ANYTHING. just swimming and going on land. back and forth. lol.

i cant wait till i get my turtles....

  • Would you like me to add a swing set and a ferris wheel?

  • yes, they would probably enjoy it.

  • what do you expect them to do,play on thier xbox for a while before popping out for lunch?

  • yes i do. is that to much to ask for.

  • ha ha,yes it is. they have only just figured out the gameboy.

  • [Warning: Sarcasm overload]

  • nice

  • i got that SAME cave for my snapper

  • my turtles almost never swim but when the night comes they never stop swimming....y do they do this

  • they are probably just not used to you yet and are afraid. Just give it time :) good luck!

  • they swim at night because they try to hunt.and they dont swim in light because they want to bask

  • Hi nerice6, I love those cute super-res!

I just got a painted turtle.

How much do yours eat in a week on average? <3 details plz ty

  • Comment removed

  • well if yur turtle dosnt move much he wont eat much just reply back and ill see wat the problem is

  • lol we got him a tank and a basking area an some fish (he didnt eat them so they're his friends now) but he ate some snails we put in there, and tears up plants he eats like all the time now hes happy an healthy thanks xD

  • just love you vids :D

  • Hehe, thank you thank you!

  • What type of cam. do you use?

  • I have a Fujifilm camera. It's great.

  • I think that if I made a time lapse turtle video like this, everyone would think it was a still image. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that my turtles have secret awesome rave parties in their tank when I'm not home.

  • that is a very beautiful tank! i had my turtles in a 40 gallon but then put them in an 80 gallon pond that i made for them

  • Thank you! And I just saw your pond video. Very niice!

  • thx im glad u liked it

  • aww they are soo cue i bought one slider because the store had it in a plastic container with no food and water he looked real dry soo i bought him and put him in a glass bowl until i buy the tank

  • Thank you. And congrats on your new turtle! Having a red-eared slider is fun. =)

  • ya i think i"ll get a turtle

  • You definitely won't regret it. =)

  • Add Goldfishes(feeder) that would be pleasure to watch them catch their snack :) those are very Excellent Environment For Two Young Chosen Turtle :)

  • Thank you! Yeah, it would be entertaining to watch. But if I put a big ol' goldfish in there, they're gonna rip it to shreds and dirty up their tank like crazy and most likely clog up the filter, too. Ha.

  • Im looking to to get turtles. What kind are those? How big do they get?

  • Those are called RES (Red eared sliders). They are very small when born...as big as a quater. But, BEWARE...their full grown size is as big as a dinner plate.!! So do not get a RES unless u know u can take care of it and are aware that it will grow big. If you want a smaller turtle get a mud turtle. They are small when they are babies and grow medium-small size. :) hope u get the right turtle

  • damn ur turtles go mad fast lol

  • haHA!! brill-YANT!!!!

  • what kind of filter do u have

  • aww so cute ^.^ they look like my turtles

  • ha ha and who said turtles are slow

  • ha lol

  • my red slider likes to swim alot. but absolutely NEVER goes on the dock to just bask. i put a UV lamp. i think it might be because I only recently installed the dock and maybe the turtle has to get used to it? Please let me know if thats the case :)

  • Don't worry about it. I think it's because he has to get used to it too. It's a new environment now and he's just exploring. ;) He'll bask eventually!

  • You already got your UV lamp, is it uv/b or a? Hey dont forget your HeatLamp..

  • A good setup - they seem to like the basking dock. Both can bask on it same time on there, which is good.

  • Thanks. I've got a new one now... because one of them just completely started chewing THIS one into tiny pieces.

  • No problem. That's wierd. I haven't had trouble with my turtles chewing the dock, but they always flip it over, no matter how hard i try to keep it up XD

  • HAHA. Flipping it over, huh? They must be superturtles! lol. Well mine waited for a long time to start chewing on the dock. One of the corners was completely gone and pieces were all over the tank and filter. Eww.

  • Rofl. They must have sampled the dock XDD I learned a valuable lesson to never feed feeder fish to turtles unless your prepared to clean the tank.

  • Yeah, it was a sample alright... not a free sample though. LOL. I kinda figured that the guts of feeder fish would just get all over the tank and plug the filter up hehe.

  • Yeah XDD there were just guts of fish all over the tank in mine XDD

  • Do Turtles Need Heaters? And Exactly Wat Tempiture? im asking this because im getting a turtle in a couple of days

  • Noo they don't need heaters. For my turtles, I just have the lights from the tank that heat up the water and their tank just fine. It keeps their environment at a decent temperature (room temperature).

  • So A uva Light ? or something?

  • You can get a UV light if you want. I personally used regular incandescent lights that came with the tank. I've used it forever now and my turtles are just fine and dandy. =)

  • when you got them as babies, how long did it take for them to start eating? i mean a few days?

  • Hmmm, I think it took a day or two. Don't worry too much. They're just scared and trying to get used to their new environment.

  • Nice vid but it looks like they are going to need a tank upgrade soon! A 75 gallon should house both of them as adults comfortably :).

  • Well they're not quite adults yet, lol. So I will wait.

  • when your turtles were smaller, did they always pop up to the top to get air? i have two very small turtles and they act almost as if they cant swim! theyll go in the water and wont pop up to the top unless they can reach the top just by standing. theyll just strech their legs out. They WILL NOT swim to the top. even over the course of 20 minutes and im afraid of them drounding. : (

  • lower the water too about 4 inches put a few fake plants in and give them a nice warm basking dock

  • I have the SAME problem!

and sadly i think my problem was my fault, because i used to only give him a little bit of water and so did the place i bought him at, but, i just but tons of large rocks at the bottom, so I'm sure he wont drowned:D

  • i thought my turtles were cute yours are awsome

  • Hehe thank you. =)

And I'm sure your turtles are cute!!

  • nice pair of red-eared sliders right? i have 2 of them also you should get like 10 gallons for every1.5 in of turtle but otherwise beautifully simple setup ps could you tell me what u used to speed up the vid?

  • Thanks! There are a lot of different opinions on sizes of tanks for turtles. My turtles have a lot of room. They mostly just bask or swim on only one corner (they're favorite spot for some reason HAHA). And I used Windows Movie Maker.

  • those are awsome turtles

  • Thank ya! I'll be sure and tell 'em that. =P

  • Perfect tank! How big is your tank and how big is your turtles?

(Trying to compare it to ours)

  • Thanks! It's 10 gallons and my turtles (when the video was made) were probably about a couple inches big.

  • Cute. Perfect song.

  • Hehe thanks. =)

  • how much does the vet cost?

  • i got a question my baby res turtle dosent eat wat should i do?

he hasent eating in 2 days :(

  • Well I'm not a huge turtle expert or anything. But I'm guessing you just got the baby turtle recently? If so, it needs a little more time to get used to you first and then it'll start eating.

If you had the turtle for a long time already, then I don't know what to say... take 'em to the vet?

  • maybe you moved or handled the turtle too much, the turtle could be under stress or your turtle feels cold. it will eat in a while

  • Make sure it's comfortable and healthy. Change the water often too.

  • Oh yeah. Super1commenter is right... the water has to be at room temperature. The turtle won't eat if it's too cold.

  • thanks for speeding it up..great action on those turtles

  • Thanks. =) Yeah, they sure move around a lot. Hehe.

  • nice little video. how big were your friends at the time?

  • Thank you. My babies were pretty small when I got 'em. I don't remember the exact size though.

  • is that a 10 gallon tank?

  • Yesh.

  • wr can i buy just like ur baskingarea?

  • You can get it at any pet store. I got mine at Petsmart.

  • hehe waterfall? its a filter putting back the clean water .. u so funny

  • they are deadly i hav a red eared one nd getting another soon how did u make that water fall???

  • Hehe, is "deadly" another way of saying awesome? =P

And the waterfall is from the filter. It's taking in the dirty water and spitting out the clean water, which is the water fall. =)

  • I love this vid! these cute little guys are sooo active and fun! I hope you have plans for when they get bigger, because a small tank like that wont cut it forever. Again great vid!

  • Thank you!! They seriously are active. It's insane, LOL. And oh yes, I of course will get a bigger tank when they get bigger. =P

  • nicee. i have a res, a new bigg tank, when i get my new cam.. check out my video i also have a baby sulcatta!! so cute!!!!!!!

  • cute vid,cute turts.mine are about 2 years old now :)

  • Nope, they have a gooood life.

  • this is a sweet vid

  • Thanks =)

  • wery sweet :)

  • Thank ya

  • how old are they ??? :)

  • They were 8 months old when the video was made. They're now a little over a year old. =)

  • they are so cute....mine has over 3 years now....and i just love it

  • Thanks. And 3 years huh? Long time. =) Turtles are the best. ♥

  • cool turtles and nice tank!

  • Thanks!

  • very awesome turtles!!! very cute great setup for turtles

  • Thank you!

  • I have a yellow-bellied turtle :D

  • Very nice!!! Tell me please- where did you get that basking platform?? I have never seen one like that!! Very nice.Where can I buy one?? I want to get one for my 2 red ear sliders.Thanks.

  • Thanks!! You can get the dock at ANY pet store. I got mine at PetSmart. But I don't use that dock anymore because one of my turtles has chewed one of the corners out completely... and there were little pieces EVERYWHERE... You can always stack stones or something. =P

  • Thank You!!

  • How Big of a Tank is that?

  • I could not tell from your vid.

Are those RES or painted turtles?

  • They are RES. =)

  • It looks like its that time when you should start looking at a bigger tank :D

  • LoL nope. It's not the right time yet.

  • what kind of filter do you have? im lookin for a new one. does it work well?

  • I just got a new one.. the other one started crapping out on me. Apparently the new one is the upgraded version of the old one. It's the Aqua-Tech Power Filter (Model 5-15). It's working quite well! And it's only $11 at Walmart. =P

  • thank ya ver much :-D

  • That last comment was mine dramirezs23. It's my husband's account, sometimes I use it by mistake.

  • They seem to enjoy more being in the water than being outside on the plataform. Mine likes being outside more. I let her walk around the house a lot.

  • That was cool. I love the environment that you set up for them.

  • Thank you very much. =) My turtles LOVE it!

  • nice tank. i have a few videos of my turtles on my page

  • Hey MAn how you Doing?? btw Nice Tank how Are they Doing?? Post A Video soon Please!!!

  • i just got a turtle and i was wondering if lucky bamboo can be placed in there? if the turtle eats it, will it get sick?

  • i have one and im going to buy it a mate, but first i need someone to answer my question: How do you determine if an RES turtle is male or female?

  • Well, you can't really tell if they're male or female as babies. You have to wait till they're atleast a few years old on average.

Males have longer thicker tails. They also have longer claws. You can find out more on Google. There are also pictures.

  • That was fun! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it. =)

  • hey, how old are your turtles??

  • They just turned 1 year old. =)

  • how big is your tank? what are the turtles names??

  • It's a 10 gallon tank. I got it at Walmart for $25. It came with 2 incandescent light bulbs and a filter!

  • amazing setup dude awesome thanks for sharing

  • Hey thankss! My turtles love it. =)

  • Nice song choice.TOADIES RULE!

  • Haha thanks! I thought it was the perfect song. =P

  • there are really cute. cool song too. i just got a RES, a baby. i was jw, can you use a regular fish tank filter or does it have to be a reptile one? waht kind is yours?

  • Thanks! Well my tank came with the filter and 2 incandescent light bulbs. And it's just a regular fish tank that I got at Walmart for $25. =)

  • how did you do a time lasp? by the way awsome tank setup

  • Thank ya! Well I recorded for about 30 minutes and then sped it up before I posted it to YouTube. =D

  • how did you speed it up?

  • I used Windows Movie Maker. It comes with every computer that has Windows.

  • So cute! They look happy in there. Don't you just love RES?

  • Thanks! They really are happy. =D And I ADORE my babies!!! =)

  • haha, awesome. how old are yours? mine are like a year and a half old and they mate...alot.

  • Thanks! Mine are about 9 months old.

And are you sure yours are mating? People tend to mistaken the sign-of-aggression (where they stick their hands in front of their faces and vibrate them) for a mating sign. =P Just wonderin'.

  • thats a really good setup...

  • thank you!

  • Your turtles are awesome... I want one lol

  • Thanks!! =)

  • xD your turtles are teh leet :D everyone go check out the "my turtles say hi to youtube" vid :D i love that one :D

  • its 10 gallon tank?

  • Yes. It's the same tank. I got it at Walmart for $25, and it came with the filter and lights. =)

  • o bout to say 10G tank for 25bucks you just got rip

but anyways you got any idea hoiw to make a land half water tank for turtles? i want to mate'em

  • awe. they seem to follow each other alot =] thats sweet

  • Ohhh they do. It's the cutest thing. ♥ They'll bask together, fall asleep together, etc. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!

  • cool.

  • thanks. =)
