  • Love this film, but Hitchcock isn't the best at selling it and stop giving away the plot. Lol

  • *as one...for me he is ...!!!

  • And about Alfred, all the time he was nominne and the academy never awarded him with the oscar of the best director of the year!!!Anyway,Alfred Hitchcock is known from the audience sa one of the best directors of all time!!!For me is the absolute best!!!

  • This film is really a masterpiece!!!It's the best film of Cary Grant, that's sure!!!But I just have a wonder!!!Why this and so many other Hitchcock's masterpieces like Vertigo,Rear Window,Notorious,Dial M For Murder,To Catch A Thief,Shadow of A Doubt,Marnie etc were not nominees for the best picture of the year!!!But what someone can expect from the Academy, when they gave 9 nominaions for Pup Fiction and hey never gave an oscar for Cary Grant, one of the 5 best actors of all time!!!

  • my fav hitchcock film

  • he reminds me of james bond

  • Un bon film :)

  • Hitchcock = one of the world's greatest ever film makers. But definitely not one of the world's best talkers ;)

  • 200001th viewer, I feel special :)

  • must have been the best film i've ever watched. period!

  • man, poor thornhill guy...things just kept getting worse for him...great movie guys...but not in the master's top-5 in my opinion...definitely in the top-10 though...

  • Man, I kinda wish Movie Trailers nowadays were like this.

  • Would you like me to get up there and show you. Horny ole Hitchcock was pretty good with the blondes. Look at Tippy Hedren etc.

  • North by Northwest is much better than On the Waterfront is

  • I thought I didn't care for Alfred Hitchcock or Cary Grant movies, or any movies from that era. But I was just sucked into North by Northwest on TCM, and it was a great thriller/mystery.

  • My favourite part of any Cary Grant movie is when he goes to a place and does a thing

  • @sygnus5 Like Grandpappy would always say "No matter where you go, there you are."

  • Hwo´s the best Kubrick or Hitchcock???????

  • @saqibk1

The real question is which one would win in a fist fight.

  • New York, where Cary Grant can go places and do things.

  • this movie sucks...full of cliches and bad acting

  • The word "Classic" is overused. It should be reserved for movies like this.

  • And the best Bernard Herrmann Hitckcock soundtrack. Moooore than Psycho

  • Amazing. Masterpiece!

  • Honestly, this movie really isn't that great compared to amazing films like Charade and Shadow of a Doubt.

  • el classico de hitchcock... bien chingona la pelicula

  • Awesome trailer, so different then the type we see now

  • The great DIRECTOR Alfred Hitchcock. He started the 'angle shot' and the 'multiple shot. He also created the 3D look f most of his movies. He was pure GENIUS!!!

  • Como falta talento nos filmes de hoje!

  • @TheMarcio2014 ta brincando neh? qlq suspense dos irmaos cohen da de mil nesse lixo ae...

  • God bless the Rembrandt of film.

  • Hitchcock makes a lot of good thriller movies

  • Where do I sign up for the "Alfred Hitchcock" Travel Agency?

  • A classic by Hitchcock! Great film :)

  • Great short of one of the best Movies I've ever seen. Hitchcock was a great publicist among all his other talents.

  • i love this story and hitchock is a real master...

By the way,i wonder if the secret services over the world have already used a part of this screenplay

  • "The serene nobility of Mount Rushmore". Ha!

My favorite scene is when Cary has climbed into the aggressively modern-style house near Mt. Rushmore and the housekeeper sees his reflection in the TV screen as he's trying to sneak around upstairs.

  • @hebneh I agree. That scene was genius! He was way before his time.

  • Oh shit, 1950's WIDESCREEN

  • --I mean, I used the soundtrack for this movie for MY movie that I attached to this YouTube site. It is called, "We all do dumb things".

  • I pay FULL TRIBUTE to Hitchcock for NORTH BY NORTHWEST when I used the soundtrack by Bernard Herrmann for this movie. Hitch's movies are the BEST!

  • great

    more i didn't can say

  • LMAO! @ 1:13

  • This is my favorite Hitchcock movie AND my favorite Cary Grant movie!

  • Worms<Ke$ha<Lady Gaga<Glee<ALFRED HITCHCOCK!

  • ohhhh! classic film...and vertigo...and rear window and......well, most of them realy!

  • oh god....i'm going to despise this class..............

Ways of knowing: intro to american culture....EFFFFFFFF

    too dry for me.

  • true gem!

  • Hah. He's General Ising.

  • A pleasant vacation - "from all your problems" - with Hitch!

  • A brilliant film! The acting, editing, narrtive structure are unbeaten even today.

  • Im not used to seeing trailers like this, but i liked it

  • This was like the first James Bond movie. Only better.

  • @TerryCraig23 Much better.

  • Like this one.

  • Im interested in seeing this movie...But thats one cool poster that I just saw...

  • The photograph of Cary Grant with the knife at the UN owns the movie for me, people talk only about the suspense but forget how FUNNY this movie is.

  • Absolutely brilliant film. Look out for a remake with George Clooney in the lead role! Also check out DCI Stark a character that Hitchcock considered for one of his last films.

  • like when she say: should i climb up and tell you why? . I say yes :D

  • I love this movie :D

  • is this movie worth 2 buy?

  • its a classic one, worth some money if you like this classic stuff

  • It is.Trust me.

  • Also the name of Tech N9ne's new Canadian tour.

  • family guy was making fun of this.

  • :P alfred hitchcock travel agencey, idk why but that made my day

  • Check out that awesome poster. classic.

  • Most certainly one of my favourite Hitchcock's movies; a masterpiece indeed!:)

  • The following year in 1960 was Hitchcocks next movie,Psych:-o!

  • Excellent movie,brilliant director Alfred H.

    Loved it.glad I bought it

A memorable Sunday Midday Classic ;-)

    Sun 3.1.2010

  • Does anyone know the name of a little movie of Hitchcock Presents in which a woman goes to prison and plans with the coffin man her escape. She is burried alive and waits for him to save her but, on that night in the same coffin, he is burried too...her surprise when she lights a match and see who is burried with her.

    WHAT´S THIS MOVIE NAME, PLEASE??'?

  • north by northwest, in french '' la mort aux trousses '' by alfred hitchcock .

  • thank you very, very much!

  • I didn't like this movie, maybe it's not my style

  • some people were complaining that this film was not included in the hitchcock box set collection

  • The true master of suspense.

  • what's it about?

  • LUV Hitchcock suspense! R-luv

  • "even if she has to shoot her way in"

  • "where Cary Grant go places and do things". scene:Cary and the stabbed man. hahahahhaa. a must see movie before you die indeed.

  • excellent movie guys :) its available to watch at 'bigmovies4free' - gr8 acting all the way through

  • "North By Northwest": written by Ernest Lehman & starred Cary GRANT & JAMES MASON--but it's unrelated to the STONE CULT or basketball player GRANT HENRY HILL DUKE Univ. & the NBA. The doomed flight's number, 255, matches the listed weight of Nick Vanos at multiple internet sites (255 lbs). Northwest 255 crashing onto Interstate 1994 could evoke calendar year 1994, when GRANT HENRY HILL (later a paid endorser for Northwest) was drafted by the DETROIT Pistons 2,509 days earlier (June 29, 1994).

  • @peter pan, and you re mother make sit ups on my dick...comprende..

  • @nitemare129654 Ohhhhh! and that peter does not know good movies if his 'Young mom" forces him to watch it.

  • excellent movie guys :) seen it already at "bigmovies4free", anybody else seen it? gr8 acting all the way through

  • best film ever and ever, and who say grant was too old better shut the fuck up!!!

  • He looked as old as his "mother".

  • Yes but James Mason was playing his own grandfather Grant was playing himself - a gay man having a mid life crsis

  • Mason had a severe heart attack soon afterwards.

  • Grant has to do so much to keep up it should have been him that got the heart attack he 'Mr Kaplan' of the screen but barely does anything a brilliant performance

  • sorry I meant to say that Mason acts 'Mr Kaplin' (Grant) off the screen

  • And all you folls going "Grants too old and it's outdated" clearly cannot understand art. Grant, Hitchcock, and this movie were AMAZING then, now, and forever. Compare that to the film's we get today. For every good originaol film, we get 20 bad ones.

  • Grant was FAR too old at 55 to play Thornhill. He looked the same age as the actress playting his mother. They should have cast a better actor like William Holden.

  • Oh age is just a number. The guy still looked pretty good for his age. That's like saying Harrison Ford can't play Indiana Jones and Daniel Craig is too old to play the new James Bond. Besides back then actors were more confined to one studio and Grant was one of Hitchcock's favorite actors so it's no suprise he was in this and it's perfectly fine that he was.

  • I'm a major RonPaul supporter anyone want to chat about politics and maybe get a little naughty afterwards? lol

  • I like how Nolan wears a suit too on his sets, copy the pro's. cool

  • besides the fact my life is sumed up in Alfred Hitchcocks movies, what i wanted to tell you is look at the scene where the camera looks down from the building to the street. The more you advance technology the more it looks like the past. Example computer movie graphics compared to 50s blue screen. Whats old is new. Dont let the effects, contrast, or set become the star. Hitch and I both like blond women, see most of the leading ladies.

  • wow. Hitchcock himself on the line. wow wow wow

  • I like this sort of trailer, but it does give away a few major plot points without actually telling you the plot!!

  • Hitchcock is NOT boring. HE is one of the best things to happen to movies.

  • @balrog13571 very true

  • obvious troll Scott. obvious troll.

  • Ironically, James Stewart lost the role cuz he looked too old YET he was 4 years younger than Grant. Go figure...

  • I think it was also because Stewart wouldn't have been believable as a suarve New York businessman.

  • Yeah maybe...I'm a buisness man in NYC and believe me, I'm not suave. LoL!

But previously, Stewart had done "Vertigo" with Hitchcock, and even though it is considered a classic now, back then it was somewhat of a flop. Even Hitchcock said that Stewart looked OLD. How fucked up was that? Stewart was devastated.

  • Also just before filming began on North by Northwest Stewart did Bell, Book and Candle, a film where he was considered miscast as the romantic lead due to his age. He was 50 and Kim Novak was only 25.

  • That's right. Mixed reviews on that too. Older men - Younger women pictures were the norm back then. Take Bogie and Bacall (whom I met a couple of times - nice lady) in "To Have and Have Not" and in REAL LIFE. Go Bogie! Wooo!

  • I thought To Have and have Not worked because Lauren could have easily passed for older than 19/20 whereas Bogie always looked pretty much the same. Stewart's grey hairpieces really didn't help, in the DVD version of "Rear Window" it's so obvious that he's wearing a wig.

  • Yeah...I noticed how stiff Stewart's hair was in that. I heard he was pretty much bald after WW2. I wish someone would make movies with the same camera shots as the ones we're talking about now...along with a real orchestra. Until then, I'll have to settle for today's piece of crap.

  • omg What is wrong with you

YOU try and make a better movie!

  • @PeterFirthFan WILL YOU STOP SAYING THE SAME THING!!!!!! Geeze!

  • in my opinion this was the best film Grant did with Hitchcock, it's rated as one of my top ten films of all time

  • the trend for trailers these days has become an over dramatic 1 minute montage of explosions, all trying to convince the audience that it is the most epic movie ever made...we are losing attention span for sure

  • I wish they would bring back trailers like these

  • No kidding. This had a real personal feeling to it.

  • In 2001, the American Film Institute named North by Northwest the fourth most thrilling movie in American cinema.

  • Cary Grant isn't gay Mr. ObamaRules4Ever

  • then why did he spend so much time having sex with Mrs. Betsy Drake?

  • Did Mr. Grant tried to fuck you, you idiotic brat?

If not, shut up and go watch Teletubbies. I believe that's entertainment of your sort.

  • Uh,..Grant foddled me when I was a kid.

  • @ObamaRules4Ever Obamablows4ever.

  • Comment removed

  • Both untrue

  • this movie is one of its kind, so so innovative

  • Don't think I've ever seen the trailer. Al does the movie justice as only Alfred can. Haha!

It is a good movie. A real classic.

  • I forgot how much better this is in a big old fashioned movie theater! (If you ever get the chance...)

  • ahh. got it, thanks :)

  • Two outstanding animation shorts:

    "Kiwi!" by Dony Permedi

"One Rat Short" by Alex Weil

  • you can watch this great movie online, for free:

    blogger-films.blogspot.*com/2008/11/north-by-northwest.html

  • blog doesn't exist..?

  • Im'm sorry I must got it wrong. Just enter here and serch it there:

    blogger-films.blogspot.*com

  • whta's this movie about?

  • this movie looks alright. when does it come out?

  • Dork: Do you just copy and paste this same remark on every trailer? I saw the same thing on Raging Bull.

  • whats wrong with that?

  • Dork: 'Cause if you constantly do it, it gets old.

  • I only did it twice. I'm not hurting anyone anyway

  • if ur sarcastic ur hilariuos. if ur for real ur a f'n tard u stoner

  • El: Like I implied, I think he just goes around and says that on trailers.

  • North By Northwest is a great movie, and anyone who thinks otherwise, must be retareded. Sad to say, but true. 8th of all time... should be higher, but Godfather etc was pretty good aswell.. so, 8th is fine. ;)

  • you odviously don't know what your talking about when you say this movie sucks........it must be good if it ranks 8th on the all time greatest movie list.

  • Hush fool.

  • Best movie ever. ur screen name says alot bout ur intelligence anyhow

  • El: Don't pay attention to that ass. He thinks Jimmy Stewart is racist so I think that shows how he thinks.

  • HAHAHA!!! u made my day when its been beyond shitty lol! I notice his comment is now hidin

  • El: Well it's good to know I did something helpful. ;)

I've dealt with this guy, though I'm not a member I've had people tell me that he's been 'terrorizing' IMDB.

    Trolls just never die.

  • Wait, did you say you've dealt with him before? Who is he -- a sock puppet of HarveyCartwright? The two do sound awfully alike.

  • Norn: Yes, I have and I'm positive it's the same person.

  • NGS712: In that case, I know who he is. Sponge417, aka Evan Peacock, pretending to be a British schoolboy just for kicks. No big surprises here, although why he keeps coming back despite having been exposed before is a mystery to me.

  • Norn: 'Cause sadly there are people who like to be assholes online for no reason at all.

It's like a different breed of people.

  • NGS712: You might be interested to know about that frantic message I've received from our troll friend. Claims that Evan Peacock is just his Myspace buddy. Indeed.

Big barrel of laughs, isn't he?

  • Norn: Some people are obsessed with having multiple accounts to troll with.

    Pathetic.

  • His face looks like a pie.

  • Hahahahahaa XD

  • love the "kinda spooky" way hitchcock talks... surely fits his works...

  • Viva Alfred.

  • Easily Hitchcock's best film.

    It has EVERYTHING in it.

  • the clueless leading guy. he was hilarious in this movie which made it more of a comedy and drama. highly recommended. My fav line that I can remember:

    "im a big girl."

"yes and in all the right places."

  • My favorite movie of all time hands down!

  • Ditto ! Fucking incredible x
