Are you Lannerianer still debating this??? Lanner himself would likely admit that the developement of the Wienerwalzer was a joint effort between himself and Johann Baptist Strauss. As to the greatness of various composers, it should be noted that people with not even a casual interest in Classical music could hum a few bars of the "Blaue Donau" whereas few classical music afficionados could hum any part of the "Hofball Tänze" walzer. Now quit running down Strauss just enjoy the music already!!
