blind mag is the perfect role for her, if you like SB you should watch this whole movie, she is very well-cast in it...the scenes where she explains why she leaves the opera house explain why she takes out her eyes and why she chooses to die overall...if you're already part of the repo opera i apologize for over-explaining, but if you're not you should watch it and see how she brought so many people on board (like myself) to watch and love this film.
As for the voicing thing, I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure that they did what most musicals do: Play out the scenes, then record the actual music in a studio and sync it with the footage. If you've ever seen a vigorous dance scene with someone singing that totally sounds fine, that's why. xD
Sarah is the Best!!! <3 The Song and Setting etc are perfect!! But i hate Rotti this fucking A********!!!! He killed Mag!!! She was so strong that she decided to take her eyes off alone, to say that he can leave her alone and he kills her!!!!!
Exactly! When she sings live, especially in recent years...the quality of the performance is less than expected.
Is it any wonder how she sounds amazing in concerts set up entirely by her own crew (Vienna, Symphony Tour, etc etc) yet when another crew sets up the equipment she sounds horrific? That's right. Lip syncing.
The Symphony Tour lip synched? Sure you are one of those pathetic persons who haven't gone to one of these concerts and only through youtube says Sarah lip synchs. I really doubt she is lip synching since the volume of the voice changes a lot according to the distance from the microphone. I say this because I've gone to two of her concerts in front row seats. But you make a judgement only with youtube videos. That's pathetic
I went to the Symphony concert, thank you very much. And it was just as obvious to me then, as it is watching various youtube clips. All of her performances from different venues sound exactly the same!
Also, she even uses old recordings! Hijo De La Luna/Storia D'amore are the same as the albums! WAWW, Dust in the wind, nella fantastia, la luna are all the same from the Harem tour.
I am not stupid. I was given a brain, and I do like to use it. :D
really? I went to two different concerts from The Symphony World Tour and she sounded different in both of them. It's really weird how you say you are not interested in Sarah and that you are not a fan anymore yet you go to her concerts and still watch all of her videos. mmm weird.
Pay no attention to Windgrace. He's just a troll who likes to spew nothing but negative about Sarah Brightman via Youtube. He used to do it on her own website too until his obvious dislike and disrespect got him banned from it.
I went as personal confirmation to myself as to whether or not it was live. It stands as fantastic proof, as opposed to just watching video clips taken on crappy phones at the venues.
Live concert and live vocals are two completely different things, and no, I don't think "hearing" the vocals "live" is a decent way of looking at the fact someone is lip syncing to pre-recorded material. Her voice isn't live. She is, but her voice isn't. Very, very different.
Maintaining ones voice is different than lip syncing an entire show. Celine Dion lip syncs to preserve her voice...Sarah has total reliance on it. She physically couldn't sing many of the numbers she performs.
What about the fact that there is no orchestra, yet pieces like TTSG, FDM, POTO...all require bombastic orchestrations? Where's the great choir for lines in CDT, FDM...
Pre-recorded. It's sickening watching her take a bow for credit she doesn't deserve. I'm fine with her early work. :D
There was no orchestra probably because of the economy. Paying for an orchestra is likely to be very expensive so they're probably cutting back on costs. Same for the choir, though they did have backing vocals and used the dancers as the choir but it's obviously not the same. There are many reasons why Sarah lipsyncs, but you can't be so sure of why she does it. So why do you care? If you're so unsure there's no reason fussing over it, we're not going to get a definite answer. Just live with it!
Correction: Windgrace is a troll! It was dumped off Sarah's Boards for breaking rules, now it slanders Sarah every chance it gets. Pay no mind to it...
I don't know but I saw Harem twice and symphony and those were most definitly live. I had great seats for.
You just can see her little body has to brace for some of those high notes. I was in live theatre for a while. You can always tell a lip sync performance from live.
The term "Mezzo" it's not correct. The correct term is Mezzo-soprano.
Yes, it's right; there is not "mezzo-contralto". However, there is an appellation that is used in the chorus and in some countries; it's the alto. It's almost the equal of the voice of contralto....but it's not the contralto.
A long time ago a fatal bird named Chromaggia met the arrow of an archer while flying Along the lava coasts for years, thinking it was being chased it escaped the arrow Chromaggia why don't you face danger? the arrow was attached to its wing and it flew trying to shake it off Pulling the arrow others get wounded because of me... down! towards the devil's mouth! its arrow,my eyes Chromaggia, come take these eyes...! I would rather be blind...
If I've made the correction it's because, the term "Mezzo" is not correct. The correct term is Mezzo-soprano. In this fact, you can not say; that is the same.
Really?Sarahs voice sounds very sharp and quite screamy in this song,i guess its because of this performance and maggs style, because if she had to sing chromagia higher, how she would sound?
OMG! She gasps in releif after she gouges her eyes out, thinking she can return to a normal life... Then BAM... She dies... :( How depressing... I love mag and sarah brightman.
i don't wanna talk about the story of the film, but the performance of Mag (Sarah Brightman)i ca say that's the most amazing Sarah Brightman interpretation.
Mabey coz You like some fake things, You can't see the diference from a good thing to a fake thing.... perhaps Katherine who? which is a horrible thing...
What I don't understand is that I really don't spend that much time listening to Katherine. I still listen to recordings of Sarah's more often than of KJs...
But don't you dare say she is fake, especially when this diva present lip syncs entire world tours.
Hi Windgrace. Yeah, maybe Sarah uses lypsincs on her world tour, it's like a fever in this times, and she will not be the first doing that things... xD. But not for nothing she is the Biggest Selling Soprano Of All Time. xD.
This movie was made by Darren Lynn Bousman, producer of the SAW movies. That what you call "fake" was actually intentionally added to the movie. It was their intention to make this movie more as a stage-opera than a film. That's why the sounds and effects look "un-realistic".
Wow, Rotti has some class, killing Mag in front of an entire opera house...anyway, the song leaves you speechless. Totally builds up to her dramatic death.

Exactly valqueso.
I was in amazing seats. Along with the mic part you mentioned, you could see her little body contorting as she belts the high notes.
She also sounded completely different on some songs. She changed Let it rain and Fluers Du Mal a little. Phantom was best ever.
It is just so very obvious she is live. To here someone say otherwise is insane.
I can honestly say she was in the best voice of her life that night. I was so blown away words can not describe...

If any would like to see she does not always lip sync. Look for her Classic Brit Awards, Pie Jesu performance.
She had a very off night! I love her but It was pretty bad.

I agree with youthe "Classic Brit Awards 2008"; is at 1000% in live. Sarah is really disastrous for this performance of "Pie Jesu".

I do believe that not everything was live in that show but that's not normal, you have to maintain your voice as much as you can.
Why are we still talking about this? This is a Repo! video. *continues to watch one of the best scenes in the movie*

Katherine Jenkins is not a mezzo, but a mezzo-soprano. And this song "Chromaggia" is sung at the register of mezzo-soprano.

mezzo and mezzo-soprano is the same*
