Hey guys I'm 17 and I just bought a 1.8L lance mr and I only have like $100 to spend on an exhaust and at super cheap auto there is a cannon 5" (the smallest there), is that to big for my car I mean would it sound loud or would it make a stupid noise because of the size of the engine, or where can I get a 3" or 4" cannon? WHAT SHULD I DO PLEASE HELP ME MUTCH APPRECIATED
@IIxSaVaGeIx on a regular gasoline car, you should not go bigger than 2,5 - 3" More would just be uncomfortable and noisy. It may also lower your performance, if you have to big outlet.

because i have heard glass packs on 4 cylinder engines before and doesnt sound half bad and it makes it different because everyone puts thoes dumb cans on their cars that cost like $60+ Vs a glass pack which is like $25
no its more like 400hp and 375tourque at 16mpg that make that power at like 3000 rpm and your little ricer over the has to be doing 9000rpm with forced induction to make mabey 220hp my 85 caprise has spanked many ricers and so has my 02 silverado and both are bone stock
ok i lied it has rebuilt 383 out of some old hotrod truck the 305 wore out some 300k ago but i can still manage 16 mpg and is way more simple than your stupid forced induction 4 banger that is why i hate ford mustangs they cant do shit without that supercharger but camaro does it all moter
@jab953 simple is what is easy to fix and easy to make power you can just put in a different cam and theres 80hp and if you have a v8 and i4 making the same hp the v8 will last much longer because it doesnt have to work at max load every time you get on the interstate or try to pass someone, lets say your tring to change a head gasket, you more than likely will have to take it to the mechanics because you got all that gay DOHC and stuff vs a v8 where you just do it like its nothing
If you just want to make power buy a supra w/ a 2JZ.... 3 liter straight 6. All you need is a big turbo, lots of fuel, and an open exhaust. You can get decent fuel economy while not on it. AND when you do tromp it you will destroy anything. I don't care, bring a built NA LS7 (Which is an excellent motor by the way) and it will kill that at less than half the displacement.
BOTTOM LINE: old v8's suck, at everything! Sorry to hurt your feelings, enjoy that 165 HP caprice your gramma gave you!
the reason i like that car and that i still have it is because it is a good memory of my mother that died in a car crash when i was 6 i didnt get it expecting it to be lightnign fast but that thing is a good solid car and nothing you can say can change that the only thing it needed was a tranny rebuild at 310k but i wasnt stranded thanks to reverse and the newer motor but the old one still ran...BTW everyone knows 350's are the most ledgendary engines around
in america about 75% of every mud trucks/ rat rods have 350s or 454 its not just numbers that make them good its durability, easy to make high hp, and cheap. another amazing engine is the 3800 that is a peice of work but i can name a couple pos engines too Chrysler 2.7, all of fords straight 6's, the Gm I5
How about a LS9 stuffed into a camaro against your 2JZ? Its still the good old pushrod engine with i know ..forced induction but at 640Hp out of the box whats not to like?

@gobbygoo Depends what you mean by smoother power. Cause if we are talking quality. Power to wheels, most V8's these days have shit parts used to put all that *power* to the wheels. Resulting in an overpowered car, trying to use all its torque to tug its 2 tonne ass to 60. Not to mention higher pitch notes are what alot of people look for. Motorbike for instance, sound incredible. They sound nothing like a V8. Turbo'd Supra, 3L V6. Not a muscle car, but will blow the balls off an SS anyday.
