Sherlock is not going to die, Steven Moffat has said that he wants to go further than 2 series. And Benedict said in a recent interview that he'd like to do more. Granted, they could be saying that so it'll be more of a shock but somehow I doubt it. This is a very popular series, it would be very silly of them to end it so soon.

@TheTotallyCaptivated its based on the original book (the final problem) in which Sherlock and Moriarty both died falling off a waterfall while fighting, locked in battle to the end. but Sherlock was later revealed to be alive, and faked his death to bring all of Moriartys followers out. but in the pictures ive seen, i think he dies. hope this helps.
