To people who are wondering why some didn't leave their homes - many people only had 10 minutes warning before the fire was on them, and by then it was too late. The fire itself was moving in some instances at 110km/h. Apparently people were dying within 100 metres of the flames because of the insane temperature. Pretty hard to outrun that.
