  • Robert è il miglior attore di tutti i tempi e non è giusto che ci siano video su Youtube che invadano la sua privacy! Un conto è se mandi su Youtube un filmato di un film o un filmato in cui siete assieme (magari!),ma questo proprio NO!

  • It looks like Guy and Joel are argueing over something ?!?

  • Better than Spielberg this guy is.

  • Aww Susan!

  • I wonder what kind of coffee they're drinking... Just a bit curious

  • susan downey's such a natural beauty. wonderful quality to have.

  • more like mr. pap smear

  • I wish that paparazzi didn't exist. Because the only thing you get out of them is trouble. All you need are the people who appreciate the actors and the actors. Not crazy people who see talent and think of money.

  • He was... drinking something from Starbucks, smoking, and chewing gum at the same time?

    Damn THAT'S hardcore.

  • AHhhhhh the downeys. Holding hands, sharing coffee, rubbing backs, smiling goofily.

Have you ever seen a more loving pair? I haven't.

  • paparazzi .... is their a job thats adds as little to society ? what a pointless profession you have. to paparazzi everywhere - Theres nothing good about who you are or what you do.

  • he makes smoking so hot.

  • Haha! I wonder what he's drinking....I'm a barista, and I'd love to be able to call out, "Venti Iced Quad Caramel Macchiato upside down for Mr. Holmes"

Sherlock Holmes: "Er...Is that for me?"

    Me: "No shit, you"

    :D

  • man you were close... Downey's a class guy

  • The only good that came out of this is that I saw a hat that I really liked (Susan's). Just leave them alone.

  • Geez, he looked like he was filming his Charlie Chaplin movie again (costume).

  • Oh my gosh! Robert Downey Jr. is ah-doooooorable!!

  • leave them alone you jerk!.. hey that's a Starbucks Rdj is drinking..

  • i feel wierd watching this ... stuff being paperazzi, i now know what it feels like 2 be a stalker .. :| and btw robert downey jr was PERFECT for this role! love the movie <3

  • Ritchie and Downey are genius in their own right. Bloody brilliant movie. I loved it so much I made a speed painting of Downey as Holmes, check it out on my channel.

  • Robert and Susan aww XD

  • i saw the movie and it actually suprised me, he is such an amazing actor. He was the right man for the role

  • slow dld? watching online is sooo fast..

    And in DVD quality

    ••••

    BIT~DOT~LY/holmes-dvd

    ••••

    replace ~DOT~ with .

  • In 0:50 , RDJ really does look like Chaplin, which apropos nothing, is a film everyone should see.

  • someone who's making a film to be seen by millions and make them millions is entitled to privacy? wake up and smell what you're shoveling

  • Susan and Robert are so sweet! (L)

  • so they rlly shot in london?

  • All paparazzi are assholes and you should be ashamed of yourself for invading someone else's privacy, as well as wasting time and energy for what? A convoluted hodgepodge of sneaky camera shots?

  • @frissy61 "invading" his "privacy"? Seriously? In case you didn't notice, RDJ was in a public location. Broad daylight, London, city streets.

  • @phoebexanne yeah, that's what I said, PRIVACY.......and it is serious.....everyone has a right to his or her own space, no matter were it is, whether you're famous or Joe Schmo, making a picture, walking down the street, picking your f**ing nose, or whatever.....have you forgotten Princess Di was KILLED because of those assholes? Seriously?

  • @frissy61 If someone wants privacy 24/7 then they need to stay home 24/7. If a person is in public the right to total privacy is not present. That is just the reality (good or bad, fair or unfair), it is the reality of our world. You can hate it as much as you want, but it will not change the nature of public vs private life.

  • @phoebexanne I don't speak for anyone's wants, or rights. I speak from my personal feeling of what I believe to be. You sound like a lawyer, or should be, maybe defending the actions of someone who profits from some other person's misery. And I already am a realist, but I'm not a hater. There' s nothing natural at all about comparing public and private moments, because YOU don't get to decide one or the other - the individual does.

  • @frissy61 ... 41 people and you included must be idiots ... granted there are press photogafs that take it to extremes but there also those who do that as a legal job and get they´re money with it ... cause either they have fun on it ... or cause they can´t get another job for reasons ...

so actualy u should be ashamed of yourself spewing that BS without a second thought ...

  • @MrTBSC Yeah, you're the coolest of them all, I take it, because you can't even spell, and have no problem presuming to call people names when you can't even converse, and obviously can't keep a job because of your lack of integrity and proper grammar. I'm NEVER ashamed of speaking or knowing the truth, and YOU "must be the idiot"

  • @frissy61 yeah..always come with the grama nazism boy..as if i care bout spelling on a damn videoportal community..besides i am no fotojournalist.. and yeah i have no problem presuming

calling someone out as u don´t have no problem presuming to insult whatever u don´t like with absolutly no idea of what they realy do..so u not "must be an idiot"..no you ARE already one..spewing BS, hating everything and having no life..just f**k off fucktard

  • @MrTBSC You're rather pitiful, AND hilarious....what a combination. Good for you, going right for the obvious lack of maturity, profanity, name calling, on this precious "videoportal community". That reveals a lot about yourself, dickhole. I've got to hand it to you for stumping me on the "grama nazism boy", though. Whatever. Good luck with that.

  • i like robert :p

  • It must be amazing to see a famous actor on the street.

  • RDJ is so awesome.

  • i love seeing behind the scene stuff. he looks kinda funny and out of place there in costume with his starbucks. but then when you watch the movie you're like. WOW. it's Sherlock Holmes ! i even think i reconize this as the first scene. And they were talking about the jump. cool beans. RDJ, looking like a shmuck in a costume downtown...pulls it off as Holmes.

  • On a lighter note. I love when he puts his hat on Jimmy and starts taking photos.. very cute xx

  • Oh my God. What is with all of you? "Robert wont pull it off" Robert isn't right for the role" "Bad Casting.." etc.. Do you remember what everyone said about him when he was cast as Tony Stark?? And he blew everyone away with his performance. Critics were saying that if it weren't for Roberts performance the film would have been a flop. You watch, Robert is going to knock your socks off as Sherlock. It's what he does.

  • @LilMissDowney he was amazing as charlie chaplin also.quite rare 4 american male hollywood actors to take on roles like this.jonney depp is also great 4 his range of roles..

  • Omg Look At Mrs. And Mr. Downey

  • Robert Downey, Jr. is such a great actor. I mean, the last person that he was was a drug addict. A person addicted to drugs and liked it. He said it tasted like metal. And he liked it.

But now, take a good look at him. "Iron Man", "Tropic Thunder", "The Soloist", "Sherlock Holmes". He became a different man. He took another direction in the road of life. He turned around from the negative stuff and became a new man.

I mean, could you imagine an actor was addicted to drugs up and running again?

  • OK, so here's a challenge for all you "forget the past" - "live a little" chatters:

Name your favorite recent movie, and I will re-cast it with "old school" actors and see how long you can keep your middle school lunches inside your tummies...

Go ahead - bring me your favorites...

And then remember that you have just as many "preconceived" biases as us old farts.

Jude Law and RDJ are FINE actors. This, however, is a project where the shoes are WAY too big for their itsy bitsy feet.

  • By this 'project' you mean Sherlock Holmes?

Both Jude Law and Downey Jr. are excellent actors and expecially Downey who is at his career's peak, finally ridding himself of drugs.

I don't really know any actors who could have done a better job, and by you say "old school" you mean 'old' actors like... say, Harrison Ford or Sean Connery?

I can only laugh at you.

  • Glad to bring a little humor into your day. There is too little of it in the world...

By old school I mean actors like Jeremy Brett who immersed himself in the character - it's a lost art.

Have you seen the previews of this film? It's played for yuks and Robert Downey is smirking the whole way through...as if to say...I can't believe they let me play this part. He didn't even bother to have them cut or style his hair. Gotta look up to date on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

  • When you say "he" didn't bother to have "them" cut or style his hair, you're making an incorrect assumption about the movie industry and theater business. In addition to a myriad of other professionals on board (in ANY professional film or theater endeavor), the director provides the necessary information about era details (such as clothing, language, geography and of course hair style). No one's at fault as the hair is accurate. And Downey Jr. would cut his hair--- just look at The Soloist.

  • The hair is accurate for Sherlock Holmes?

funny, the only time in the stories I remember Holmes having hair like that was when he was in disguise wearing a wig.

  • How bout Richie's last film RocknRolla?

  • oooo even better. how bout 'Doubt'?

  • Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

  • @LilMissDowney hell yes kiss kiss bang bang. hell yes. :)

  • Im 22 by the way.. so not even close to "middle school" and i still think you're a yutz!

  • look like chaplin

  • You guys are stuck in old interpretations. Live a little, re-read some old Holmes, adventure and mystery begs to be rough around the edges. I think it will be a good looking film.

  • Gad...it must be really tedious making movies. Lot's of time standing around for a few seconds of action.

Don't have high hopes for RJD. I like him in lots of other things, but this is miscasting.

  • Yes but when you are paid then u forget everything...

  • RDJ for miscasting?? What about Jude Law?!

  • He is perfect for holmes, if there is anyone qualified to take the role it is him.

  • I personally think RDJ will do fine, its Jude Law. He's a bit... not watsony

  • Yea I agree

  • oooh! that's St. Paul's!

    i was JUST there

  • whoop de doo

  • I don't want to be pedantic but what happened to the deerstalker hat?

  • I was thinking the same thing. He looks like Chaplin. Or the Artful Dodger or somebody in a Dickens novel.

  • That woman in the hat is such a bitch, i talked to her on the set in Liverpool.

I know it's stressful or chaotic on set but it's no way to treat people that badly...

  • I think that woman in the hat is his wife.

  • Don't be so damn rude! that's RDJ's wife, you don't know her so don't pass judgement so quick

  • My mistake, it was a location scouter who had that exact same hat

  • Love Downey Jr., but what a fucking crock. I think all anybody involved with this movie knows of Sherlock Holmes is his name. -_-

  • From the reports I read, the movie looks awful. Holmes tied naked to a bed?

  • Don't forget that James Bond (Craig) was also naked and tied in Casino Royal. You remeber that scene, don't you? I agree that Holmes naked is awful but we must wait 8 months to see the movie!

  • I didn't see Casino Royal. James Bond being British is probally the only thing he has in common with Holmes.

  • Comment removed

  • holmes will be naked?

  • Well, that's what I have heard!

  • God dammit! When was this, I was in London and I think I saw some wierd looking people around,I could've possibly seen RDJ!!!*bangs head against wall*

  • ha ha... he looks more like Chaplin again. Glad him and Ritchie are both working big again. Word to the wise, dont marry Madonna.

  • Oh! After taking off his facial-hair I think he's suitable for the great detective. Robert looks really cute. Though I prefer the British Sherlock Holmes performed by Jeremy Brett!! With pointed nose and deep eyes, Jeremy probably resembles Sir Conan Doyle's Holmes the most.

  • doyle's holmes has a pointed nose(hawk-like), and deep eyes(grey by the way). downey jr. must be a very good actor beacause he has no physical resemblences with holmes(which would help him)..

  • Comment removed

  • If Holmes doesn't look like Downey, then Dr. Watson's description of Homes in his writings are greatly distorted and people hiring Holmes at 221 Baker street must have been schocked to see the Downey looking guy here.

  • This is Sherlock??? My God...poor Doyle.

downey is too fat for sherlock

  • @Baammbi RJD TOO FAT? LMAO. If you've watched the movie now I bet you saw how skinny built he is.

  • I think Downey Jr would make a good Sherlock Holmes, however, i'd cast adrian brody, he's suitably cadaverous and has the right shaped kind of head.

  • that venti black brewed coffee from starbucks never leaves robert's hands.

  • uhm.. isn't jude law taller than downey jr? watson taller than holmes?!

  • Comment removed

  • Sherlock Holmes is a closed book after Jeremy Brett. No one will ever be as good and this film is going to be laughable.

  • You are right! Brett is the ideal Holmes! Althought a fresh look on him will be accepted by me! The first clip was good! But Holmes's clothes... :( ( I have read all Doyle's stories and I have all the GRANADA episodes!) :)

  • isn't holmes supposed to be over six feet, skinny and with gawnty features(as described in the books).. mm brett was born for that role.. i think holmes fans are goin' to be quit disapointed.. well, maybe not..

  • You're damn straight! We're already disappointed!

  • omg what is he wearing

  • I love how hes so affectionate with his wife

  • for a second there, i thought he was playing Charlie Chaplin again

  • Yea the suit does remind me of Chaplin

  • lol! you're right!

  • Yep just give him a toothbrush mustache and a bamboo cane, and BAM. There's Chaplin right there

  • You guys know that House M.D. is based on Sherlock Holmes right? So basically imagine House as a detective and you get the "unhollywood" version of Holmes.

Hmm come to think of it... I want Hugh Laurie to play Holmes now heh.

  • bshieldsbb01 I totally agree with you. From the books we realise that Holmes is always well dressed! He is a gentleman!! These clothes make him look idiot! And it will be difficult for RDJ to replace Jeremy Brett...

  • Maybe this scene here is Holmes in disquise?

  • We hope so!

  • Al Pacino as Sherlock Holmes.

    "Gimme all ya got!!")

  • Fuck He's Hot.!

  • Robert Downey Jr. is going to make an excellent Sherlock Holmes!!!!!!!!

  • you're damn right he's going to :]

  • The popular image of Holmes as a well dressed gentleman is pure holywood. If you read the books the image is more like this, disheveled and scruffy. Holmes would basically lie on his sofa between cases, whacked out on cocaine. It was Watson that kept him on the straight and narrow.

  • cocaine? in the 1800s?

  • "cocaine? in the 1800s?" Cocaine is not a recent invention. It's been around for centuries. Drugs go back to biblical times.

  • Holmes "...affected a certain primness of dress..." in everyday life. When he dons a disguise, that's a different matter.

Read the original stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Look at the Sidney Paget illustrations that originally appeared in The Strand Magazine where the short stories were originally published.

  • I find it hard to imagine anyone other than Jeremy Brett in this role.

  • Jeremy Brett really did make the role his own, didn't he?

  • Sure!

  • Whose that chick with him?

  • Jammed9000 : his wife, Susan.

  • His wife is rough with no make up !!! Plain jane !!

  • When will the film be completed???

  • I agree with TxLonghorns15, Robert was amazing as Chaplin, and his British accent in the film was really convincing, he's a very talented actor and I think to take on a role as challenging as Sherlock Holmes is very commendable. I think he'll do great as Sherlock Holmes.

  • Robert Downey Jr. did brilliantly in the movie Chaplin, He is truly one of the best actors of our time. I'm convinced he will do just great in Sherlock Holmes.

  • any idea about the release date of the first trailer??

  • why did they cast an american as SH?

  • american or not, downey is by far the best actor ive ever seen. hellz, i was convinced downey was black in the movie tropic thunder. hes just that good. im sure a british actor wouldve done just fine, but downey better. =)

  • Well, he has to improve his accent. :)

  • Actually, I thought that his British accent was pretty good back in Chaplin.. :S

  • No doubt

  • it was good at the beginning, like a proper english accent but then as the film went on it just turned into a posh stereotyped english accent

  • guy is HOT

  • Well from the photos that I have seen he wears strange clothes! I would like him to wear something similar to Jeremy Brett

  • This particular story in the SH series he dresses in differnt guises to get all the info for the solving of the mystery he needs. He looks to be in that guise now.

Downey is a good actor-let's hope he pulls it all together.

  • It's more about the acting than the look. Sure since it is such a historic story as Sherlock Holmes the image is important, but I say if he potrays him good enough the movie should be good.

  • I never said I thought the movie wasn't gonna be good, don't misunderstand me. I'm just saying he looks nothing like him. If he portrays his character correctly then I should have nothing to complain about : )

  • The guy at 2:58 isnèt a crew member per se. He's RDJ's assistant and close friend Jimmy.

  • You did a very good job (know it ´cause I work for tabloids myself-not that I like it, I hope I get away if I find a better job. I have been stuck in this biz for too long). Love RDJ, but he looks kinda complicated. Like Guy´s movies, but don´t like himself. He is a pretty tough and edgy kind of a guy.

  • Do you know if they will be there next week?

  • Holmes had a personality that could find anything in a mess as long as it was "his" mess if that makes sense. I wouldn't necessarily call him a 'slob' though.

And he was addicted to cocaine, a seven-percent solution as he states in [I think, don't quote me] either a Scandal in Bohemia or the Sign of the Four. Either way he breaks it by the end of the entire series. He also did morphine on occasion but that was only mentioned in passing.

    ringo

  • is that dude with the stache Joel Silver?

  • It appears to be.

  • him and his wife are so cute together

  • I feel guilty watching this (hate paprazzi) but I seriously can't wait for this film! RDJ with an English accent? Gold!

  • lol his finger snap :D

  • I think Downey will make a good Holmes. But I wish they'd lose that bowler hat. Holmes is more of a tophat kind of guy.

  • do you know anything about sherlock holmes? I doubt it. The true holmes was a slob, and had cocaine addictions so you can all stuff that up your talking arses.

  • I wouldn't say a slob, per say. He was pretty professional. But he WAS a drug addict, I agree with you. Mostly morphine and cocaine, like you said. He told Watson that he does it to achieve "perfect atmosphere needed to solve difficult cases".

  • Holmes is always donning disguises and RDJ was discussing a jump or something with a stunt double, so I bet the bowler hat/Charlie Chaplin look is just a disguise.

  • I thought Holmes was more of a deerstalker hat type.

  • Actually, in the books Holmes never wore a deerstalker. It was one of the illistrators that drew him wearing one, but Doyle never put it in his stories.

  • 3:21-3:24

    oh. my. god.

  • oooh, the way he talks and looks at his wife! *melts*

i'm so happy he has someone he enjoys being with this much, and they've been together how long, 4-5 yrs now?

  • im very conserned because smoking is VERY bad for your body

  • concidering what he's done to his body in the past, let's just give him the smoking. he seems so in love and happy. :)

  • god i love him.

  • Don't smoke, RDJ.

I thought he quit smoking already?

  • He might be getting himself ready to smoke the pipe that Holmes smokes.

  • holmes never truly smoked a pipe but ok

  • He did in a few stories I read.

He did in Young Sherlock Holmes , because it was based off the stories where he did.

I also read the cocain rumors , but never read any of the stories where he did that.

Young Sherlock Holmes was based on a drug like cocaine, maybe that's where you got that from?

  • lol my god he looks like Charlie Chaplin!

  • Robert must show great respect to his role. Sherlock Holmes is a legend. Jeremy Brett was just amazing and it will be difficult for Downey to play the same. I can't wait for the Movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hope they keep this one mystical like the one in the 80s which was just WEIRD with the acid trips.

  • It's great to see RDJ at work, with his lovely Susan near to him...It will bee so long before we'll see "his" Sherlock Holmes...^_^

  • that's kinda weird that your able to get so many good shots of him chillin on the set. At the same time..so many passerbys have no idea who they are passing.

And RDJ doesn't react to the people taking his picture. it's just so..what's the word? surreal?

  • We can't wait until the filming comes to NYC! The set is going to be a COMPLETE MESS filled with hungry paps. Including us.

  • Yeah it sure will be, literally.

  • Oh and thanks for the friend invite along with the threat pap.

  • Next time I'm in the city I'll be happy to look you up.

  • Holmes is a bit scraggy looking,

    Maybe he's supposed to be

    in disguise or something.
