Properly speaking, actually that really is a jig saw. That's what they were called before the saber saw was invented, and the ad boys, not knowing any better, called it a jig saw too. These days, to tell them apart, "scroll saw" works for the fixed tool and "saber saw" for the handheld. "Jig saw" has become meaningless: it means one thing to the old-time craftsman and something different to the noob.
