@ArtificialFlavaFTB2 No, the battle systems are quite different to each other. There are way too many differences, for example in Mana Khemia you can interupt turns, you can call in other party members during combat, both defensively and offensively, and your moves get more powerful over time, really the whole battle system gets more complex and fun as you get further in the game. But for what it is worth, they are both really good games. I'd recommend buying them both.

Even if there is, you'll forget about it pretty damn fast, because I'm willing to go as far as saying that the Mana Khemia battle system is one of the most fun battle systems i've seen.

@kanagii Actually, one of the characters in the game is Ash Ketchum (punny last name lol). He falls for a mermaid with a sorrowful past. You don't get him on your party, he's just a mortal fisherman kid. You get the mermaid, though. She kicks butt! Magic user. I'm pretty sure all the girls except Lenneth (and only the girls) are magic users. There's only three and a half classes in that game so yeah.

SPOILER: The mermaid kills herself. Get this, by drowning. Ironic? Or sad... :'(

You have to meet a lot of qualifications to trigger the A ending.

You need to play on normal or hard, reduce Lenneths seal rating a lot, recruit Mystina and Lucian, sent Lucian up before a certain chapter. If you did everything right, at some point you will see a scene with lucian and loki, that will trigger the A ending path.

It is definitely turn based, in the sense that you get a turn and the enemy gets one, but as you can see, you can use all your characters at the same time in your turn.

What? This game had some of the best english voice acting ever in an JRPG. Sure there are some unfitting voices (mostly Yumei and a few of Lenneths more emotional speeches near the end), but overall it´s genius. Just listen to battle quotes of Lezard, Mystina, Arngrim oder Janus.

ehh ps2 had great ones like VP2, star ocean till the end of time, kingdom hearts 1 and 2, the xenosaga series 1-3, breath of fire dragon quarter, FFX (although not the best it was definitely great), Grandia 2 and Grandia Xtreme, shinmegami tensei nocturne and the digital devil saga as well as Persona 3 and 4 (both great ones), dark cloud 1 and 2, suikoden 3 and 4, and the list goes on. I would say that ps2 has comparable rpg's to ps1.

xenosaga 1-3 =3 games, nothing to do with any ps1 titles even though a relationship with xenogears is "implied" but no. darkcloud 1 and 2 original ps2 titles, kingdom hearts 1 and 2 original ps2 titles, shadowhearts 1,2 and 3. Persona series originated in NES or SNES, ICO, Orphen, Disgaea, Radiata stories. Want me to make a bigger list? i haven't played every rpg for the ps2, but yea, it has memorable ones that compete with ps1 hands down.

It's impossible to do that. Seraphic Gate is a one-way trip, you can go in, you cant go out. Neither can you use Angel Slayers anywhere outside of Seraphic Gate.

arngrim is your best muscle until u get brahms in seraphic gate. ideal crew is lenneth, lezard, brahms and maybe freya as your 4th. if you got an angel slayer, lucian is better than lawfer hands down.

Never cared, never will care about these "uber" characters you get near the end of the game. I'll stick with my guys that i've been through the main game with. I did the exact same in VP2, You again get some op characters, but I just sticked with the guys I used before.

I'll admit I would have used Lezard if i had the chance, but not because he's better (hell you wont even notice the difference with the casters!) but mainly because he is the man!

Nothing wrong with him. I use him in all my games, simply because I love the guy. Sure he might not be the best anymore near the end, but I never really cared, aside from lezard I usually end up using the same group in Seraphic Gate as well. I really don't care for Brahms and Freya at all.

It is the weapons. Level ups only give you a little STR and ATK. you won't notice the difference that much. Just try to get a Gram and you'll see. you can get one for free at the end of chapter 7, if you're lucky. If not, keep reloading till you do.

Yep. When I gave Aelia and Lawfer crimson edges in Chapter four, they were on crack, and Aelia was slightly underleveled.
