@znap07 As already said in the comments, these are not built-in presets. Take a piano sound you like, some strings sounds, mix them in combi mode and you're done!
j'adore cet instrument!!! il n'est plus en vente maintenant c'est le Korg M3 qui le remplace... mon rêve c'est d'en avoir un mais c'est très cher... tu joues très bien!!
Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I've left Open Labs and started a new company called Music Computing. Check out the new gear at Music Computing or click the link below for videos. - Thanks, Victor Wong
@mattliebl6199 On the Triton Extreme, the combi mode allows you to use up to 8 instruments on the keyboard at the same time, whereas the prog mode allows you to build or customize one sound (using 2 oscillators, that is to say 2 sounds generators).
With the combi mode you can mix the sounds different ways: overlay, split keyboard, based on velocity, or all of that together :P
@mcdux and is there any way to switch between sounds in the middle of a live performance? lets say i have to go from an organ sound then switch to a strings sounds right away. is that possible?
@mattliebl6199 I thought about that a few years ago as I needed that feature too. I think the Triton Extreme might not be the perfect master keyboard for live performance. It's first a sequencer (another mode i didn't talk about, which allows you to record your playing on 16 tracks).
However, I think there are several ways to switch between sounds, more or less quickly. I'll explain them in the next posts (thanks to youtube that limit the char in a post). :P
@mattliebl6199 Here are the different ways I've found to switch between sounds:
1. (i think that's the official way of doing that) Use the program or combination mode and define your personal settings you need in the correct order. User's progs and combis are store in the Bank E, so for example, put your first settings in E000, your second settings in E001, the next one in E002, etc. You can then use the switch pedal to switch between E000, E001, E002, etc.
@mattliebl6199 This method has 2 drawbacks: you have to choose one way: move forward or backward in the banks numbers; you can't go backward with the pedal if you choose forward. And more important I think, you could hear a little break in the global output sound when you move to the next bank number. Especially if you use some reverb or that kind of effect that hold in time...
@mattliebl6199 2. (a workaround) Use the combination mode and use only one bank number. Define all you need (for example, organ and strings) on the keyboard as you need, and use the volume or other parameters you can quickly control with knobs or pedals to mute the sound of one instrument and de-mute another one (more complicated, but doable).
@mattliebl6199 The side effect of this second method is that you can't change the global effects as you don't change the whole parameters (there are insert effects (applied to each instruments) and global effects (applied to the general output)).
3. Other methods consist of using midi and multiple keyboards, or using a mix of all these method during a song.
Where can I buy one of these? The sites that I usually order from said that they are discontinued. Your inprovs are great. You should build on them... Thanks!
Ok I have an 88 Extreme but is it just me or does the acoustic pianos sound glassy too thin...is there a step by step procedure to adjust the knob controls...because I also have a yamaha but the pianos sound better when I amp it. Suggestions appreciated.
Great Demo, Lovely playing. Buy, why?. why? Do people reviewing synths, alway's seem to play piano?. We know what a piano sounds like. If you want piano, by a piano, we want to hear synth sounds on a synth, but al, we seem to get is Piano's, Ahhhhhh1. surley i'm not the only one who feels like this,m am I ?;. Really nice sound though and superb playing. LOL .
@anstonian If he bought a piano, he wouldn't have the strings and bell sounds, or the ability to mix sounds in and out the way he is doing in the video. Plus it's much easier to transport a keyboard than a big cumberson piano. Plus the keyboard cost less, but sounds very good. I bought the 76 key version of this keyboard, it's got some good synth's in it, especially if you get one that has the MOSS board inside it.
@anstonian Bloody good point man! synthesizers are for "synthetic" textures and sounds, unheard stuff - I agree with you! But real piano talent by the way
@anstonian Thanks for your comment, but I'm sorry, I disagree with you.
First, I'm not really "reviewing" the Triton Extreme here. If people that review synths first try piano sounds, it's probably because these are the most difficult sounds to synthesize (a good piano sounds can reach 200MB or even more; it's huge, especially embedded in a device).
If you think that keyboardists shouldn't play piano on their keyboard, I think you just don't understand the role of the keyboardist in a band.
@anstonian this is because one of the common tests of a good synth is how good does the acoustic piano patches sound like. are they realistic? or thin and weak? that's a good place to start on how the sounds overall will be.
plus this wasn't a review. he was showing us his own favorite sounds that he uses in the triton.
@j2smooth30 He just explains what instruments are being played and what the pedal does, and at 3:50 he says that there is a preset that allows you to play one instrument when hitting the key gently and another instrument when being ruder on the key. That's most likely about it :)
it depends on what style of music you play. for gospel or r&b they are both very good. although they are very heavy. but if you are more of a jazz player i would suggest the kurzweil pc3
