Nader is a true American in that he has shone a light onto some of our worst corporate offenders and has long warned us of exactly the threats we face today, a corporate takeover of the US democratic system. Witness the lifting by the SC of campaign contributions for corps, unlimited access by lobbyists to the Congress & worse, to the executive. We are being sold a bill of goods. Soon, it will be us ourselves that will be sold, as chattel, to feed the insatiable gaping maw of corporate greed.
Both parties suck @ss!! Neither of them have done nothing but suck up a paycheck. And this country is full of idiots that think a Presidential election will get their potholes fixed. It matters more who is in your local government to have direct impact on your life long before it goes up Washington.
Ralph Nadar and his supporters are the only voice of reason I am able to hear in American politics. @Big Purple: What about the great African American hope for change, you numbskull? See any change? Nobel peace prize my balls. That says nothing and says it all. Hitler was nominated as well.
In 2000 Bush & Gore went into the election virtually no difference in their polling numbers. Nader was polling at about 5%; 2/3rds of these individuals supported Gore over Bush.
If Nader would have withdrawn from the race (he wasn't going to win anyway) his constituents would have cast the deciding vote for Gore.
Nader knew this going into the race & he still went forward with his hopeless campaign. In other words, Nader gave Bush the election.
I don't think it was as much of nadars fault as it was our country's terrible election system. If we used the IRV voting system then all of those votes for nadar would have gone too gore. Plus if we didn't have the electoral college gore would of won because he actually had the most votes. so I actually don't have a problem with nadar as much as I do the election
So you think that someone who has millions of supporters (he garnered 2.7 million votes), spent millions on a campaign, and hated both of the two front running candidates would have just dropped out like that?
If he actually cared about America or any of his platforms he would have dropped. If you hadn't noticed G.W. was the most destructive US President since Hoover. Nader could have stopped it; Nader is responsible.
Every poll indicated the Bush-Gore split was going to be less than Nader's impact. Unless he is a total moron, Nader knew the situation.
Giving into my every whim? If Nader's rhetoric had any foundation and he had any integrity he would have allowed Gore to win. But he didn't. He doesn't give a shit about any of his positions. Nader is a piece of shit.
You have no idea what I'm saying, and in general you are sooo out of touch with the issue at hand.
Do you think that someone campaigning for ANYTHING, let alone the PRESIDENCY, would give in that easily? After millions of dollars and supporters, national advertisements, sold out arena rallys, etc... NO! You are out of your mind in thinking that Nader would have given up just like that. He was the most influential 3rd party candidate since Perot. People like him give 3rd parties hope.
So you agree with everything I have said: Nader could have given up in order to prevent Bush but didn't & did so for selfish political gain -- promoting his third party platform is putting his agenda ahead of the country's. In other words, Nader put the US through an unnecessary war, violations of civil liberties, and the largest economic crash in 80 years for selfish political gain.
George Bush, Al Gore, John Kerry, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, etc. I have no idea why you said I agree with you on everything. I obviously agree with you on NOTHING if we are still arguing with each other - stop trying to put words in my mouth. Nader didn't put us through any of this - it was George Bush and the Congress/Senate, who since 2006 have been controlled by the Democrats. What political gain did Nader ever acheieve? He has never been elected - he isn't even a politican - he's a citizen
You are fucking pathetic. it's hardcore partisan democrats like you, still crying and whinging that Nadar lost the election that personsonify the core problem in the system. Blame Bush you scumbag, Blame Gore for losing his OWN fucking state. Blame any other of the independant candidates. Blame your countrymen who voted for Bush. Give Ralph Nadar credit for being the ONLY honest man in Washington. You Prick
I never said Nader was solely responsible. Gore's staff could have ran a better campaign and GOP voters could have voted the other way.
But, Nader could have single-handedly stopped Bush's election & he was the only one person that could have. That is a fact. Instead of giving the election to Gore he decided to suck up 5% of the votes for self-aggrandizement. In my book, that is "fucking pathetic."

You do realize that every 3rd party canidate got enough votes in Florida to cost Gore that state.
In fact here's a wild concept, maybe if apparently 3rd party canidates can affect the election, maybe they should be allowed into the debates since apparently they're a factor since some people actually vote for who they think will do the best job and not just the lesser of two evils.
Hell I don't even like Nader, but you sir are a dumbass.
You're what Nader calls a "political bigot." Freedom to run for presidency means freedom to speak, freedom to assemble, and freedom to petition. Obviously, you're opposed to democracy disneyer3. Also, why is it only 3rd party candidates that are seen as spoilers when Repubs. and Demos. spoiled our gov. system.
Bush further stated in June 1992 to Sarah McClendon the Grandam of the Washington White House Press Corps when she asked Bush what will the people do if they ever find out the truth about Iraq-gate and Iran-Contra? George H W Bush Replied: Sarah, If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched.

Oh god please nader don't talk about how we didn't give the soldiers enough armor. What do they need the armor for? Their casualty rate is already like 1/2000 that of the Iraqis. If anyone needs armor it's the Iraqis!
please chiefnugt, the reason Al Gore lost 2000 is because of Al Gore. Shifting the blame was a way for the democrats to cover up their lousy campaign, especially when you consider the large amount of dems that voted for Bush. In addition, the Dem & Rep parties are essentially corporate owned, which is why they won't impeach Bush. That was enough to make me switch to the Green party.
I agree Gore ran a poor campaign, and should never have even been in position to lose. But once it was clear the outcome was in doubt, Nader should have pulled out and supported Gore. If he had, we'd still have a constitution and a functioning justice system in this country. In fact, the very state of the country now completely disproves your argument that there's no difference between Democrats and the GOP. Think we'd be in this place if Gore won?
The democrats have proven that they are no different then the republicans by voting to continue to fund the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan through congressional budget approvals for the last five years, and by continuing to support the war on terror scam that systematically removes our freedom under the false pretense of providing security, and the democrats also refuse to impeach Bush, Cheney and the rest of those war criminals.
It takes a lot of nerve for Ralph Nader to say anything about this topic - in 2000 he said there was no difference between Bush and Gore. If it wasn't for Nader, Bush wouldn't be president. So, Ralph - shut the hell up. You had your chance to prevent Bush from happening in 2000, and you didn't. Shame on you, Ralph Nader.
Anyone who blames Nader for Gore's loss in 2000 is just in denial. Denial that the US is a corporate dictatorship and that democrats and republicans are working together.
When Gore picked Lieberman for his VP it probably cost him more votes than Nader got.
Lieberman is right wing and is supporting McCain in this years election! Democrats always shift right during campaigns and they continue to lose elections.
Nader is clearly in the majority on most issues. Issues like single payer universal health care, ending the wars now, clean up corporate crime, hold the Bush administration accountable and end the gutting of our bill of rights.
Watch Ralph Nader's interview for the 2004 election where Democrats said the same thing to Nader that they're saying this election which is don't run, saying he's to blame for Gore's loss and vote for Nader will cost them the election, they said this year 04' is different as people just want to get rid of Bush. They said everyhing they're saying now, & he got less % of the vote down to 1% & the Democrats lost by a larger majority to Bush. So Nader isn't the problem, the Democrats are.
The very fact that the democrats haven't attempted to impeach Bush speaks volumes. His approval rating is very low, the dems have control of the legislative branch, and would probably be supported by a number of republicans as well as third party and indies, legally they can do this, it is supported by our constitution...not to mention that several of the actions taken by the bush admin have been pointed out by the supreme court as unconstitutional.
The reason why the democrats don't do it is because they have no backbone with a few exceptions. Imagine what precedence this would set. A US president is accountable for his actions. They don't want that because then it might happen to them when they gain power. All effort is to keep themselves safe and in power with no regard for the people or the constitution except when it is time to put on a show to get elected. They don't care one bit.
It's mind boggling that our congress has not went forward with actions to impeach, Bush is the most impeachable president ever...we went after clinton, but bush has done so much more its ridiculous..
No differences between the GOP and Democrats? You think we'd be in Iraq is Gore was president? Think the economy would be in shambles from tax breaks for oil companies and crushing war costs? I'm sick of people spouting this crap. This is what Nader pushed in 2000, and thanks to him we've suffered from seven years of bush.
Start voting with your dollars. Get your music, movies, books, magazines, and newspapers from alternative media, independent studios, and small record labels. Sell/trade any DVDs and CDs you have from the big 6 media conglomerates. Don't use myspace or IGN which are owned by Fox. Don't even look at a trailer to their movies. Buy American-made products and not GMO products. Give up a little so your kids don't have to give up a lot.
McCain, Obama, and Hillary Clinton should stop running. They are destroying America.
They are unpatriotic, America-hating cowards.
The Democrat and Republican Parties are terrorist organization. Neither legally has won any election. Only Nader, Greens, Socialists, and Communists deserve to win.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ralph, we don't care what you say. You running for president again, after inflicting Bush on us for 8 years by running last time is a crime and you've lost all credibility. Go away.
Do you honestly think Nader cost Bush the election? You've obviously forgotten the voting machines in Florida where hundreds of African American votes (most likely democratic votes) weren't counted. I hate Bush just as much as the next person but get your facts in order.
Dems are all the same, crybabies and cowards. Ask Pelosi why she won't pursue impeachment proceedings against Bush & Cheney??? Ask mighty Obama or refuse to lose Clinton why they don't support impeachment proceedings against them??? Kucinich read 35 separate articles of impeachment into the record on 6/09/08 (why so late??). The Dems have done NOTHING! Don't blame Mr. Nader, blame your gutless, politico, power hungry, cowardly Democratic leaders! And educate yourself!
Watch [Aljezeerah,YouTube] the South Koreans protesting their govt's high-handedness of making agreements to accept older US beef imports [a risk of importing Mad Cow]. The few minutes you see of their pulsing presence in the streeets in their nightly vigil is impressive.
(As a primate?) Having seen that it's easier to imagine such citizenship strength.
Even the troops themselves want to come home. Here's a little factoid: Ron Paul, who voted against the Patriot Act, against the Iraq War and wants to bring the troops home immediately got THE MOST CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY. More than all the other candidates combined. The We The People choices for president are Ron Paul (Write-in), Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Chuck Baldwin and that's pretty much it.
if enough people vote for a third party candidate amounting to the same or more than the winner on either side combind there's a pertty nice message, although it would be nice if all those people voted for Nader, regardless, it would still be a big step in the right direction.
I remembered writing to the Nader campaign suggesting a crossover ticket to somehow get all of the disenfranchised to vote for the same third party. I just recently had this interesting vision of our federal government being much smaller (the Ron Paul/Chuck Baldwin approach) and at the same time having these enormous ever-expanding watchdog groups in each district (the Nader approach). Less to watch over and thus the citizen groups would be much more effective.
I call Pelosi all the time, but I doubt it'll do any good. If she cared about the rule of law, she wouldn't have run on a non-impeachment platform, & she wouldn't be actively trying to stop impeachment now. She obviously doesn't care, & has chosen, rather, to protect mass murderers like Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumy & the like...so why should we even begin to expect that if we just ask her nicely enough, she'll stop. She's got blood on her hands, be sure & let her know when you call.
Sometimes it does, yes, and let's hope so in this case. But if Pelosi doesn't cave and/or these people are not impeached before leaving office, I hope we don't just give up. Impeachment would be nice, but trial and imprisonment are far more important in my view.
Yeah well IMO nader commited the unpardonable sin of "unsafe at any speed". I'd can him for that if I could. Otherwise I would have given him 6 thumbs up. Smooth move Nader.

gore was the head of the epa for 8 years as vp and did nothing to impose carbon sanctions on the automotive industry, he sat on his ass.
and you are mad that nader didn't 'help him out'.
gore was the spoiler for nader. check that out.

Would we have invaded Iraq if Gore were president?
chiefnugt 3 years ago

Shame on you, Ralph Nader.
chiefnugt 3 years ago
Anyone who blames Nader for Gore's loss in 2000 is just in denial. Denial that the US is a corporate dictatorship and that democrats and republicans are working together.
Vote Nader/Gonzalez!

You're joking, right?
chiefnugt 3 years ago
When Gore picked Lieberman for his VP it probably cost him more votes than Nader got.
Lieberman is right wing and is supporting McCain in this years election! Democrats always shift right during campaigns and they continue to lose elections.
Nader is clearly in the majority on most issues. Issues like single payer universal health care, ending the wars now, clean up corporate crime, hold the Bush administration accountable and end the gutting of our bill of rights.
Vote Nader/Gonzalez!
nowellian 3 years ago 4

Harikus 3 years ago
The reason why the democrats don't do it is because they have no backbone with a few exceptions. Imagine what precedence this would set. A US president is accountable for his actions. They don't want that because then it might happen to them when they gain power. All effort is to keep themselves safe and in power with no regard for the people or the constitution except when it is time to put on a show to get elected. They don't care one bit.

It's mind boggling that our congress has not went forward with actions to impeach, Bush is the most impeachable president ever...we went after clinton, but bush has done so much more its ridiculous..

I am fed up with the Dems and the GOP. Other than their rhetoric, there are very few differences between them.
Despite the fact I know they won't win Nader and Gonzalez have my support in this presidential election.
TeeDub106 3 years ago 2

Democrats and republicans are working together for the American ruling class.
America has become a corporate dictatorship and it is time for real change.
Impeach Bush/Cheney!
Vote Nader/Gonzalez for president for real change!

Do you honestly think Nader cost Bush the election? You've obviously forgotten the voting machines in Florida where hundreds of African American votes (most likely democratic votes) weren't counted. I hate Bush just as much as the next person but get your facts in order.
preedrush 3 years ago 3

Why doesn't Nadar get together with Kucinich and promote the impeachment together? Ron Paul might even join them. It would be a powerful group

Dennis Kucinich read the articles of impeachment this weak but the media blackout is withholding that information for the country.
Slavesrevolt 3 years ago 7
Even the troops themselves want to come home. Here's a little factoid: Ron Paul, who voted against the Patriot Act, against the Iraq War and wants to bring the troops home immediately got THE MOST CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY. More than all the other candidates combined. The We The People choices for president are Ron Paul (Write-in), Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Chuck Baldwin and that's pretty much it.
8DoverNJ 3 years ago 4
if enough people vote for a third party candidate amounting to the same or more than the winner on either side combind there's a pertty nice message, although it would be nice if all those people voted for Nader, regardless, it would still be a big step in the right direction.
votethirdpartynow 3 years ago 4
I remembered writing to the Nader campaign suggesting a crossover ticket to somehow get all of the disenfranchised to vote for the same third party. I just recently had this interesting vision of our federal government being much smaller (the Ron Paul/Chuck Baldwin approach) and at the same time having these enormous ever-expanding watchdog groups in each district (the Nader approach). Less to watch over and thus the citizen groups would be much more effective.
8DoverNJ 3 years ago

Impeachment would be nice, but trial and imprisonment are far more important in my view.

that's why it's important to follow up and vote third party - according to the lastest polls democrats think this is going to be a cake walk
