hello, did u fixed the problem after replace your last fuse?? Im having the same problem, my last fuse is not working but i want to be sure if i have to replace the fuse or the whole heater.
"And that was my problem. So invest in one of these bad boys"
Huh... that was your problem AND... what did you do to fix the thermostat discontinuity? The most important part is missing. Identifying the problem is not the same as fixing it. If I still have to call a repair person to change the damn thermostat, there's no point in watching this video.
lol. Let me help you out. Once you figure out which one is causing the issue, buy a replacement. Then take out the wires and screws and put the new one in. Then reattach screws and wires....
just to let you know... when you test continuity you should never test it with the spades terminals still connected because you run the risk of getting continuity through the wires instead of the stats or anything else you are testing
@pojhmongyangI have a Kenmore Elite. None of the auto cycles work I have use the manual cycles to get the dryer to complete a cycle. When I use the auto cycles the dryer shuts off after a few minutes. any clue on what would cause this problem.
Thanks. Bought a multimeter after guessing (trial and error) on repairing this stuff for years. It was great to be able to KNOW what was wrong. In my case, the heating element. The multimeter confirmed all the other thermostats were fine. $60 later, my dryer is working.
My dryer over heated badly last night its never ever done this before i replaced the heating coil long time ago believe me its working too good.Is it a sensor or thermostat thats gone bad or a heat limiter sensor help? My clothes were allmost smoking they burned my hands could not touch them.Glad i checked on it cause it was near out of time but a little long been a fire for sure.
You have to remove the wires (or at least one of them) off of the item that you are checking for cont-a new-a tee or you may get a false reading when you're testing with your meter.
you're lucky you found the problem. When you are testing the thermos and fuses, you have to remove the wires in order to get the best results. Whenever there is an open thermostat of fuse, there is a reason, they do have temperature limits. If you're dryer is clogged and for other reasons, it is not working you can put in a new part just to blow it in a few days. Testing equipment with all the wires connected and not using a schimatic can cost you money for putting in unneeded parts.
FYI, What you are doing is checking the continuity of the thermal fuse and various thermostats with a digital volt ohm meter. What you are holding in your hands are called probes not diodes. Checking continuity you can use the audible meter setting, but it would be best to use the lowest resistance setting and look for zero ohms at room temperature. The audible continuity setting can mask a starting to go bad thermostat aquiring some low internal resistance. I prefer analog meters for use here
con-ta-new-ity phonetic spelling for continuity. also always remove one wire from each component for accurate testing. and secondly they are not all thermostats . they are sensors, thermostats, and thermal/switches or fuses. trying to teach before you learn could kill people!

Yes, (after unit is unplugged) each component can be checked the same way, if there is continuity the component is good, if nothing is reading it is a bad component!
One thing i would add is check the coils on the heating element by moving them a little to make sure there are no breaks. I was still getting good continutiy reading on the element eventhough there was a break on one of the coils. The broke ends were still touching so i was getting a reading.
i may have a crappy volt meter because i only can get readings sticking the prongs into outlets. one question i had was about "checking the fuse/breaker" on your wall. if your fuse breaker was out, you wouldn't be able to start the dryer, right? we're just trying to find out why the dryer won't heat. thanks for posting the vid, though...
I beliece all those thermostats are for safety reason. If the heating element heats up so hot then it shuts off the power to the heating element. Try not to put too much clothes in your dryer and also check your heating ducts for arteriosclerosis , ie lint clogging, dead squirells etc.
Thank you VERY much I tested my dryer and found out my problem . Great Video better than paying a repairman $100.00 to tell me the same thing that I found.
This is normally caused by either the vent being blocked or partially blocked OR the high limit thermostat (250 degrees) being shorted. By the way, the gentleman making this video should pronounce continuity as " con tin U it ee " and the the things he is holding in his hands on the leads from the meter are called probes, not diodes. He did very well for his first time though and I am sure he helped a lot of people.
yes the video helped me , and you are right about the pronunciation, its not "con tin U us ee"... I did get a little laugh from it but hey, we all make mistakes lol

Worked perfectly and fixed / repaired my Miele Novotronic T234c condenser dryer with no heat but drum turning
4 screws to take back plate off and expose thermostat
left thermostat had failed and didn't beep on continuity test
£28.99 replacement from Buyspares arrived in 2 days with normal shipping
You will need a torx screw driver to remove the thermostat. Might be able to remove with long nosed pliers
20 minute job!
