@jonicurn1 If he is so merciful then y did he create Osama? Why did he create hitler? Can u explain how your loving god set these insane killer to us?? Millions of people were executed for not believing in him. And jesus just waits and watches has all those people die. That's seems very kind. Don't u agree?
@macstu Will you shut the fuck up you ignorant cunt and take it for what it's worth. Thats this persons interpretation, doesnt have to be yours. go fuck yourself you waste of food.
@roxtar55 You reply to a simple philosphical question with "cunt," "ignorant," "fuck yourself," and "waste of food." I'm sure your teachers and parents would be proud of such a retort.

No offense, but adding music ruined the video. And how could you not include the story of his sister? That is a part of what makes his story so special!
What does anything have to do with divinity? Since some of the key words in the description are jesus and god, then that must be the point the maker of this vid is making? Great sporting moment, no doubt. Just check out the vid by SamEyde on the race itself, just listen to the norwegian commentators. The whole world backed Dan Jansen, because his story was that of human struggle against adversity, and nothing about any divinity whatsoever.
The most touching part about the dan jansen story is that he promised his sister who was on her death bed that he would win her a gold medal thats why it was so special to him. Its pretty inspiring.
It's because they put so much pressure on these athletes! Every Olympics they find one athlete and haunt them under their event which they either win or completely lose, then ask why they cracked under the pressure.
No, I think he was being metaphorical. Just as many have had a "false start" with their lives, living without a relationship with God, doesn't mean we have to let our past effect us. If we pursue Him, God is waiting for us with open arms.
No, I'm really not that kind of person. I'm actually a quiet person who stands up for what I believe in. God is not a topic of conversation. He is GOD.
If you ever picked up a Bible you would realize that God's plan for mankind was "EDEN" , not the world we live in today. We (Adam) are responsible for the sin and destruction we see on on a daily basis. The fact that you still have a way out (JESUS) shows that He's loving and still merciful!
No. Adam and Eve, according to the bible, are responsible for the sin. If the bible's assertions are true, then I am not responsible, as I have taken no action. God is the only force according to Christianity who could cause (or stop) that devastation. If he inflicted such pain because of something 2 other people did over 6 thousand years ago (by the bible's estimations), then you need to provide a better argument for worship of a god who "so loved the world".
If you are wrong, you have worshiped a god that has caused the suffering of untold numbers of innocents because of the decisions of others. Worship of that god actually sounds like selling your soul to the devil. I do kind acts to others, not because it will get me into heaven, but because it is simply the right way to act to your fellow man. If your god sends me to hell for that, he is too narcissistic for me to worship. If not, I have nothing to fear.
actually God gave us 'free choice' to to either go the sin route or to seek him. The argument your presenting is really not an argument but a something I see all the time, which is pointing the the finger at someone and something and not holding yourself accountable for your decisions.
@quintasarias almost sounds like i should be pointing my finger at myself for the tsunami. I'd be willing to bet a LOT of money I have more volunteer hours than you, and I'm agnostic. I feel doing the right thing to get into heaven is not much better then saying what a girl wants to hear so you can sleep with her.
You're so right. There is nothing you can do that is good enough to get you into heaven. The only way is through God's son. "God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved." God is not impressed with helping little old ladies cross the street, He's impressed with Jesus Christ. Don't miss your mark.
nothing against jansen, i'm very happy he got the gold in the end for himself, his family and his sister. However, objectively speaking, he probably doesn't have quite the concentration level as some of the other elite athletes. I totally understand why he fell in '88. But 4 years later in albertville, there's no excuse for his slips....he just lost concentration. Even more so in his first race in Lillehammer.
i disagree with your assessment. In Albertville he just did not skate well and was a victim of soft ice. if you recall that was the last time they raced out doors and it was fairly warm. the fact that he set a WR in the 1000 shows extreme concentration as it was not his best event. before the Lillehammer he held the WR in the 500. the 1000 was not his best event so for him to set the WR in the 1000 on the biggest stage is most impressive.
Hmm...I don't recall the details about the ice conditions but assuming it was soft, didn't the rest of the field also have to skate on the same ice? Again, respect DJ for what he had to go thru. Just am a little disappointed he couldn't attain what he deserved (more gold, more WRs).
There is zero connection behind Dan Jansen being a great athlete and your mission statement to "find Jesus". You should be ashamed of yourselves for using Dan's accomplishments to push your personal agenda.
If you believe in talking snakes, magical trees, virgin births and the dead walking you are a very sad person. My point still remains that there is no connection between Dan Jansen and your cosmic Jewish Zombie who is apparently is his own father.
@atrasz Better than having nothing to believe in isin't it? What is the basis for your life? Why are you living it? Why do you not break the law? Is it because you are afraid of the consequences? Why are those laws and consequences from? Are they from what people think are right and wrong? If so where did that come from?
If you want to debate me on things like ethics, meaning of life, a person's contribution to a functional society and the origins of those values, please let me know. We can set up something where we debate live.
well, as much as I agree I would like to point out that vigin is a mis-translation. It just means a woman who hasn't given birth, not necessarily who hasn't had sex
It can also mean a person who is uniformed or unititiated in any way. This would be when using the word as a noun.
When using it as an adjective, it can mean anything that is happening for the first time, unused, or something that is natural or unrefined.
For example: "I was a virgin of Lambeau Field until I bought tickets". I had yet to experience it. Another: "The virgin forrests of Northern Wisconsin are of great beauty."
Actually thats just your opinion of what a realist is. Who defines what realism is? On what do they base that definition? And yes ill debate ethics with you anyday. I owned you so bad, you are having to take time, and do research to find a comeback to my earlier comments. Sad day.
You owned me so bad? Umm.. no. I can answer each one of those questions without research. There is a limit of 500 characters for a response. If you want to ask me one a time, thats fine. You appear to have a feeble mind though. It is much easier for you to say magic man dunnit than to have to invoke thought. If you think snakes can talk, I don't think I can reason with you though,
Awesome response. My only problem with what you've said here is that I didn't get to say it first. This is not a crusade to find Jesus or any other religion, but rather a spectacualr journey of an athlete who we should HATE for taking away all of our excuses to not get back in the saddle when we fail! And no, I don't really hate him, I only hate that he kills my excuses for my own shortcomings! Jesus wasn't strapped into those skates, Dan was. And Dan, alone, deserves the credit for it.
I got to meet Dan( at a Duke Hosp event ) and Eric Heiden ( at a bike race )but years apart.Dan now lives in NC.His two daughters must be 16 and 14.Sorry to hear his marriage ended. He seems happy with the second wife.
