  • Big Jim was just awesome.

  • How about Louie Louie ?

  • Is that Charles Abee playing the piano?

  • Who's all singing here? I only know of the bass singer.

  • where is bert dantow damn-it ??

  • This is really good. I personally prefer Jay's voice but Johnny was really good too. He was better than Jay in some respects, such as vibrato and such, but Jay had more range, and I just happen to like Jay's voice better. Johnny does an excellent job here though!

  • No one could sing this song like Johnny Parrack! wow!

  • The reason people get the tenors and other members mixed up is because of the kingsmens ability to change members and keep the sound very close to the same.. A great group and a great bunch of guys!! I oughta know!!

  • Charles Abee is the guy on the paino

  • Boy, Ray was sure excited there at 1:47! Good Video!

  • whos playing the piano on this video

  • i do not like this new southern gospel stuff..give me switchfoot or somthing to that effect..but this older stuff..i LOVE..a little bit of soul a feeling to it..

  • Went to see the Kingsmen in a little Baptist Church in NC last weekend and Ray can still hit them low notes after 46 years.

  • Is that Gary Shephard singing lead ? I love Squeeky's singing.

I wish someone had him singing I know what Jesus did for me.

  • @sonshine04086 No, the tenor is not Gary Sheppard. It is Johnny Parrack who was a couple tenors before Sheppard.

  • yes this is wonderful southern gospel, like we used to sing when I sung back years ago. I do like the Gaither homecoming music. I see lots of people rating tenors. My pick is 1. Denver Crumpler, of the olde Rangers,, & Statesmen. #2 Johnny Parrak, love his voice, and would like to know where he is now. Keep up the good work. God bless you all.

  • just bought the cd of this concert, now just have to find it on dvd.....

  • @1954terry1954 No luck on DVD..I bought a VHS & transfered it to DVD with my DVD recorder..Created chapters for each song...Fantastic music!

  • Johnny Parrack is a wonderful tenor and was the best. So glad he is still in ministry with his son, Jay, who is also a great tenor. Both have clear tenor voices and sing with great emotion and joy. See his website for more information.

  • Whats up with all the negative comments? I love The Kingsmen and they're Gospel. I dont see where anyone could'nt like it.

  • Southern Gospel has always had a full share of really good tenors, back in the day with the Statesmen right up to today.

  • @joshuadavid1996 didnt say I didnt like SG today, just said todays isnt as good as yesteryears in my humble opinion.....Cathedrals, Kingsmen, Hinsons, Goodmans were head and shoulders above todays groups....just saying...

  • Watch this video and receive a real blessing.

  • Love it!!!!!

No group had more fun then the Kingsmen

  • Love this style of gospel quartet music!

  • Johnny Parrack is the best! Love Big Jim Hamill & Fox....Ray Dean..great bass...................Just can't say enough...

  • Well, we know where Jay gets it.

  • Southern Gospel ...the BEST music!

  • It is the best...its too bad there isnt much true Southern Gospel left. "Pop Gospel" has taken over. Its a shame!

  • tools of God

  • its hard to beat the kingsmen they are great

  • Everyone has their favorites, but IMHO Johnny Parrack is the best of all time in Southern Gospel music at singing the "girls part!"

  • LOL Ginger, I was shouting way before I read your comment. THAT was the days if ole Squire would've got in with them. I have been looking for the 40th on DVD but cannot find it.

  • Neither can I. If I find it, I will let you know, I would appreciate the same.

  • When that man raises that high voice makes ya want to shout!

  • Johnny Parrack is great!

  • Hey y'all, for those who didn't know....Little Ernie is still alive, however, his health could be better, but, could be worse also. I am in occasional contact with him and his Family. Another baritone from this time period, Wayne Maynard (another kingsman from the late 70s-early 80s) is doing well as I am in regular contact with him.

  • The best group ever to sing the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord. I myslef love the 70's and early 80's era. With John Parrack and Ernie Phillips as tenors. Esquire Parsons, Big Jim, Ray and of course Eldridge. Nick Bruno was one of my favorite key musicians of the Kingsmen. The world today will never know what it was like to see them live.

Thank God for those years of the Kingsmen.

    Chris Wriston

  • Best Kingsmen song ever.. I love the Kingsmen.. My group is actually recording this song on our new album in July. We have a video of us singing this on here we are called New Day Music Ministries. The recording is ok.

  • that sent chill bumps all over me!

  • That tenor sounds amazingly like the tall skinny blond haired screaming tenor Gold City used to have. It's uncanny.

  • That's because this tenor, Johnny Parrack, is ex-Gold City's Jay Parrack's dad. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

  • Without a doubt my favorite kingsman song.

  • How about Gary Sheppard?? Not bad either!!

  • Who is playing the piano on this video? He's great. Thank God I can sing this song with all assurance.

  • That's Charles Abee. He played the piano for the Kingsmen in the early Seventies. Does anyone know if he's still alive?

  • Could you put the encore version on here too?

  • Johnny was good but Ernie Phillips was great.

  • what is the next. song they sing?

  • If I remember the video correctly, they did an encore of this song and then did "Look For Me at Jesus' Feet".

  • this is the southern gospel i enjoyed back in the day; i might be a little prejudiced but i dont think todays equals yesterdays. just saying.

  • me too Terry-i'm 87 and this is what i remember so well. I love it and appreciate Knewtz2000 for all the Kingsmen items especially. Thanks

  • @1954terry1954 Yeah, Southern Gospel today is more like contemporary than anything else. I love the old timey stuff. I might get to see the Kingsman in the next month or so, but I don't know, they just aren't the same....

  • @1954terry1954 i completely agree most of the new stuff today is either contemporary or either like gospel rock or somethin......im only 16 and i know this....as young as i am southern gospel is my most favorite of all....always will be

  • @1954terry1954 You do have that right, they don't stick with the "stuff". I am only in my thirties, and this is what I remember and love still.

  • @1954terry1954

I KNOW today's Southern Gospel doesn't equal the old Southern Gospel. :-)

  • Johnny Parrack is one of the best tenors ever!

  • Johnny was not ONE of the best, he WAS THE BEST ever.

  • AMEN!!!

  • @JOELW999 sorry, I gotta disagree...Brian Free is the best tenor of ALL time in southern gospel music.

  • @TDWright48 really... the best tenor? Brian Free sing like Mickey Mouse...

  • @JOELW999

Johnny Parrack is a wonderful tenor and was the best. So glad he is still in ministry with his son, Jay, who is also a great tenor. Both have clear tenor voices and sing with great emotion and joy.

  • I am not the one who requested this song But Thank you for sharing this it brought back memories I sang in a Quartet for 12 yrs singing the Tenor & there was not a night that we didn't sing this song
