@shotingstars Hey there. 6 SIR is the 6th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment, so your vocation would probably be Infantry. If your BMT's with 6 SIR, it's likely that you'll continue to be in the unit after BMT.
@cyberpioneertv hi thanks for the reply, am kind of going army soon but am totaly clueless about it so after my BMT i will most likely be in 6sir until i finish my 2 years? is it possible to join like snipers or some other group after bmt? and serve it till my 2 years is up ?
@shotingstars If your BMT's with 6 SIR, you'll most likely stay there for your 2 years of National Service. In general, your posting during your NS depends on various factors including your personal fitness, as well as the operational requirements of the SAF.

There used to be separate courses for officer and nco. Now all commanders go through GCC. Men will go through GAIT. 3 GDS is 3rd Battalion Singapore Guards.
@MAHLANG Sorry I don't understand 3 GDS. Can you please explain? I meant will there be a video series like the GCC just that it is the officer course.
What @MAHLANG is saying is correct - both the officers and specialists go through the Guards Conversion Course (GCC) together, while the enlisted men go through the Guards Advanced Infantry Training (GAIT).
3 GDS refers to the 3rd Battalion, Singapore Guards.
If you are asking about how to become an officer, you have to go through the nine-month Officer Cadet Course in the Officer Cadet School. We currently do not have a video series on the Officer Cadet Course.
@cyberpioneertv Oh thanks for the replies. Because I would really like to know how to become an officer and about signing on as a regular as an officer. Not to mention, see what they have to go through in officer school. Thanks anyway! Anyway, will there a video series on the Officer Cadet Course in the near future, maybe?
The best of all Guards unit.. 702 Gds (10th Mono Intake) Best Combat/ Infantry Unit 02/03. And yeah dont worry we're still an active unit and always ready to protect anytime if called upon!
@MrFerozswat I thought 10th Mono is 762 Guards? Btw... You guys made us suffer lah... We suffered like hell because of your Mono... 11th Mono 1st Guards here btw...
@kenryou89 using LAD to aim is acceptable. have you gone for ATP? combat shoot? it is almost impossible to aim at night with the scope if the background of the target is dark... hence Laser Aiming Device (LAD) is recommended.
@iantan13 That's correct. The SAR-21's sight reticle is not lit. The M-16 would have been more useful at night because front sight post was illuminated with tritium.
Using smoke grenades at night? Seldom see liddat. And can the laser sights pierce through the smoke? Just curious to know coz elite infantry utilize infrared goggles to enable them to see through the smoke.
@SpecJack15 they use smoke to move from building to building when the distance between buildings are big. Furthermore the UO area is lit up by lamp posts. lasers are capable of passing through smoke. but usually they have a MG team posted somewhere that has a favorable arc of fire/ covering position to create a distraction/cover fire for people crossing.
Ya they go through the same course together, officers and specs alike. Because all of them would need to know what their role is and what each other's role is, even durin planning and execution I guess... Not too sure bout that part.
GCC is to induct both new Specs and Officers fresh out of OCS/SCS right?
So as course trainees, are the Officers subject to the same training conditions as the specs; ie small unit tactics and indiv fieldcraft, drag tyres, must stand in line and do water parade that kinda thing? Just curious.
@therealfakeAlphabet In the recent courses they go through the same training as each other, but in the past I heard their GCC were separated into Specialist and Officers.
The only difference I can think of is during the planning and issuing of orders where the officers are more involved
some of you guys are really stupid. why would you think they are using real bullets? if thats the case, wouldn't our soldiers already died? use some common sense before you post, little kids who didn't serve in the army yet.
I wonder what does the female 2LT do in the GCC...anyway great video ! Although I ain't no guardsman, the video based in tekong reminded me of my times back in that island 7 yrs ago ;)
@mllcg If you are posted to a Guards unit as a combat vocationalist, you'll need to go through a conversion course to get the tab. The only exception that i know of so far is the Signals company in one of the Guards brigades. But all soldiers are still welcome to join the conversion course, subject to slots available.
Guards Conversion Course (GCC) is for commanders ie 3SG and above. For men their conversion course is called Guards Advanced Infantry Training (AIT)...
@voiceoflove If you are talking about medical centre medics, yes they can volunteer. During my NSF times, there were 2 medics (both are CPL) from the medical centre (not Battalion) who have the Tab.
Medical Officers can also volunteer for the course. For all other vocations other than Guards, Guards Conversion Course is voluntary, subject to slots available.
@sLicKVertigO who they fight against? i saw infantry and this guards they go into a building and open fire i thought they were just shooting air/wall O_O they got wear bulletproof vest??
@desdes24 HHAAH what bulletproof vest, it is training and not real gun fight. they don't shoot blindly so there should be a target for them to aim. Too much to reveal on youtube so they didn't record it?
@desdes24 they are using blanks bullet, gives you the effect of shooting a real bullet, close to it. at least better than going "bang bang bang, bang bang". hahah but still, they have to be properly geared up for trainings.
@lkskeith hahahah i got tricked by sLicKVertigO too. i thought they were real casualties -_-'' so i thought they would have worn bulletproof vests and using real bullets. if not they were shot by real bullets thats over hehe
@desdes24 nope no bulletproof vests, they are using blanks, and if cadre see that trainees are not using proper cover during attack, or they taking too long to assault the UO area, they will declare casualties so that trainees will panic. This will allow cadre to see if they can react under stress.
@danoob2110 Hi there, @sLicKVertigO is messing with you :) They aren't real casualties - during the exercise the cadres will assess the performance and "declare" certain individuals as casualties, sometimes because they failed to take proper "cover" from "enemies firing"
@AHHUAT2 not practical if you are already assaulting, plus, by that point, your eyes have already adjusted to the darkness and if you breach a room, you will still be able to see. been there done that :) Furthermore, we always breach and at the same time while breaching, flash the torchlight. This will "stun" the enemy because a sudden burst of bright light in an already dark area will temporarily "blind" them.
@iantan13 oh ya, also NVGs have a certain degree of zoom, so it will be quite hard to estimate and judge distance whilst using and assaulting. MG teams however have a nighthawk scope, it toggles black hot or white hot, allowing MG teams who always provide intense support fire to whack anyone sneaking up or enemies on rooftops or in the rooms through the windows.
