I got to the top and all I could think was "holy crap this thing's gonna blow over!" it's kind of a cool feeling teetering back and forth like that haha. very cool view though.
Great video Lonnie, beautiful view of St. Louis from the top of the arch. It makes me homesick! I'm from Kansas City, Missouri, but never got the chance to visit St. Louis and see the arch, but my brother has and your video is just as he described it, plus he said the arch sways a little bit in the wind and as others have mentioned, the top was a bit scary lol!
@51sbeck I'm glad you liked the video, 51sbeck! Yes, visiting the arch was a bit scary. The scariest part was the ride to the top in those ... round pod things they call elevators. I'm glad I braved it though, because it was certainly a memorable experience.
Just got back home in Wisconsin. I was in St Louis over the fourth of July to see the Brewers and Cards. I didn't get a chance to go up the arch because of the crowds. Had a great time in St. Louis. Very nice people. How long can you stay at the top of the arch before they send you down?
@andrewrush If there was a time limit, I wasn't aware of it. I know the elevators left to return to ground level every 10 minutes or so, but they didn't require me to leave when they arrived. I kept taking pictures while the elevators came and went a few times.
wooooooooooooooooo when the when blows up there you can feel it wave back and forth and i was up there right after a flood. so when we got to the top , one side was city one side was flood
Hmmm. That thought didn't come up as I was recording this video. My thoughts were all about how high up I was and whether I was really safe or not. LOL
Thanks for your comments about the video! Actually, the ride up to the top is pretty scary and confined, but the good news is it doesn't last very long. Unless you're extremely clausterphobic, I think you'll be okay. Just close you're eyes and find your happy place until you're there..
Thanks for posting! I went up to the top when I was 4 years old and can still remember the scary elevator ride to the top!! I wanted to take my kids up to the top when we were there in 2007, but the lines were to long. I am so glad you posted this video so I can show my kids what is at the top!
i went up there when i was like 5 and i still remember the river, but it has changed a whole lot, it was a pure blue when i saw it last time, now it looks terrible, but very nice vid
Well, if you have a serious fear of heights, then you don't want to be up there. I don't like heights myself too much, but I was able to go up there. I was nervous, but I'm glad I went up. It was a memorable experience and I got some great video to share on YouTube! I also have some photos on my website.
Not quite as high as the Burj Khalifa, but it's still a nice view.

great editing and beautiful view. I'm going to St. Louis in July. I hope the ride up isn't as clausterphobic as I hear :)

Lived in the Fairview, IL area my whole life and I've not been up the Arch yet. Fear of heights. Nice song, and good shots from up there
