The conservationist is saying that we, the West, should be able to kill big game in Africa because Africa is poor and needs the money for our sport. Like the plains buffalo in the Wile, Wild West, which were hunted to goddamned near extinction. Sounds like the same racist and backwards ehtics that we've seen for decades. Human management of those systems. Okay. Like white people have been good at managing "systems." Like the dodo, the plains buffalo, the spotted owl. It sounds like they're just justifying sport hunting by attaching it to "sustainable development." Since when to humans need to eat lions? Since when did we ned to regulate "development" of lions? My opinion is that you shouldn't kill anything you don't intend to eat, unless it shows direct aggression towards you. Stalking an animal and pulling a trigger (assuming u know the basics- steady, aim, breath and squeeze- if you don't know these... you shouldn't even have a gun lol) is not hard. If you want sport even up the odds... use a sword and light armor. It sounds weird but at least you even up the odds and earn your "trophy" instead of just getting an easy power trip from a gun.
And what of the villagers in Africa who face the threat of being killed in the field by a lion? Minus the power of a gun predators such as lion stalk their targets the same why we would them. Survival of the fitest isn't exactly fair.
If it's directly threatening villagers that would fall under my aggression rationalization. Lions that prey on humans are usually the weak ones that can't catch it's normal prey, probably cuz some hunter killed its parents. Plus, the lions eat what they kill, they don't do it for sport. I'm sure the guys that hunt lions aren't doing it to protect the villagers, there are better ways to do that than killing lion by lion. The video is titled sport hunting and i'm saying it's not very sporty.
How about eco-tourism? How about all the grains use to fatten up slaughterhouse animals that can feed world hunger? Killing is NOT the answer . I have a link on my site about trophy hunting and conservation lies.
