@33arrow Besides that, this defense is weak as fuck vs the counter. He acts like it is powerful, but most counter plays now are using pulling guards. If the guard pulls over he will take out the end. The FB can now directly block the Mike, and the back is through for a huge gain.
@37NAU Actually S and W are correct. As far as the FS coming up, they probably do this so if they get doubles formation, the LB's don't have to break the box to cover the receiver in the slot.
@TheoRoosy no, they are not. the WS should be lined up on the weak side (thus WS) which means the side where no TE is. the SSLB lines up on the TE side, thus making him the strong side backer...
a 4-3 defense form my experience vs a 3-4 can be much more effective with lower quality players. like in a true 3-4 you need a very good solid man at that nose gaurd position or that defense goes belly up allready. you can have decent DT in a 4-3 and still get away with it. same goes with line backers. a 4-3 OLB has more coverage responsabilities vs a 3-4 OLB that has pass rush and coverage responsabilities. if you have the right guys a 3-4 is better if you dont run a 4-3
what are advantages of having mike play 2 gap vs sam 2 gap?

I personally like the 3-4 defense.

Am I missing something or am I misreading the diagram? Why is the WSL lining up with the TE? it looks reversed...shouldn't the SSL be on the left?

almost always on a counter the fulback goes away from the play

could you please get your terminology correct-the SS comes up for run support, and the S and W LB's should be switched.

Please make more videos. I learned a lot from this, great video. I've been waiting forever for some more.

This lecture would be much more effective if he added some game footage of successful defence plays.
