  • INCREDIBLE!! Where did this come from??

  • can they please do this for the lost episodes?

  • Patrick Troughton to perfection!

  • how could anyone dislike this, everything about it is perfect! The animation, the timings, the sets, everything. As an animator myself (despite being a a stopmotion person) I can definatley see how much effort has gone into this one small, but amazing, piece. Since Cosgrove Hall are now out of business I think you should submit this to the BBC as a possible means of recreating these lost stories!

  • That cheesy voice ruined those scary eyes.

  • This CGI is outstanding. No exaggeration - the best I've ever seen!

  • I saw this in Doctor Who Magazine- brilliant work!

  • This is the one of the best animations I've ever seen! You should be working for the BBC.

  • I saw this mentioned in the Doctor Who magazine

  • i remember a few years ago they put on the episodes from this story on bbc 2 i think it was brill they should do that more often put classic eps on the bbc mabye even put on a 1st doctor story a 2nd doctor story the next etc.

  • @GlasgowGamer101 they did that a few years ago, a season called 'the five faces of doctor who'

  • That... is awesome animation. You go down to the BBC and offer to help restore the First and Second Doctor serials right now! Because that is incredible and the perfect way to restore them.

  • WOW ! Being nearly 53 years old I actually remember seeing this trailer ! I'd forgotten all about it until I heard it at the end of the Enemy of the World audio release - What a brilliant piece of work , well done and many thanks for letting a vintage Who fan relive this trailer !

  • Very cool !!!

  • Wow, awesome animation, very impressive

  • I love the charm of this... 'If your mummy and daddy are scared, why don't you just hold their hand...' Very well played. Too bad it's lost. I share in the interest for the recreations of those lost episodes via CG. Pretty cool it would be. ~noirgwio

  • Excellent stuff, can't wait to see more!

  • It's too bad that the BBC won't relinquish some control over Doctor Who and go into partnership with another broadcaster. I'm a Doctor Who and a Japanese animation fan and keep thinking that the BBC should form a partnership with either TV Tokyo or the NHK to recreate the lost episodes or maybe even all of the early Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s, with the original audio, and unlike Hollywood they wouldn't butcher the narrative of the stories.

  • woah this is stunning animation!

  • I actually remember this trailer it has stuck in my mind since 1968 never thought I would ever see it again brilliant really well done.....

  • @michael00794 I saw it too. Funnily enough I recalled little of the six part story other than 'the abominables' were in it. I think I may have been too young at the time to fully understand the plot. Great reconstruction.

  • @sct353 I think a couple of episodes escaped the BBC cull it would be excellent for this to be reconstructed like the invasion I haven't heard about any more lost episodes receiving this treatment although the BBC will soon run out of DVD releases so who knows they may turn to this to release more "lost" episodes.

  • There's 108 episodes (106 thanks to The Invasion DVD), that's 50 hours of television, which don't require actors, writers, directors, or any other production costs apart from the animators (and for them the look is already there in telesnaps!) which will have a guaranteed audience and which can be sold internationally and on DVD, why are they not commissioning this? Even for BBC4? Cheap production values and a guaranteed market, why is this not being snapped up?

  • I'm guessing one day all the lost stories will look like this.

  • This is bloody good.

  • OOh--the BBC erased the friggin' TRAILERS too??? UGH. ANYWAY, I love this! This is how the Lost Episodes should be re-done, not as cartoons like in the Invasion dvd

  • Best Doctor Who animation so far.

  • Was it difficult to make? Because if not you might be able to do the rest of the serial!

  • It's a shame that the BBC hasn't either computer animated the missing ones, or done just cartoon animation like in The Invasion. That, or just do a series of specials by hiring a whole new doctor and companions that look similar to Hartnell and Troughton and their companions etc. and just redo the episodes. They could do them in black and white or color, with modern props or without. It doesn't really matter. It would just be a nice thing since they have the scripts and audio to draw from.

  • Where can you can you get the recording

  • One of the sole reasons the BBC don't animate lost episodes is because they don't feel that they'll make a profit.

Do they seriously have any idea how long Doctor Who fans have wanted these episodes in existance? Do they know that some of the best stories of all time are lost?

It's all their bloody fault anyway! Wiping classic British sci-fi from existance because the actors didn't want them to show repeats. How very dare they!

  • @powerhousechipmunk23 that and, when they did do animatics to audio of lost episodes, a small yet vocal minority of fans made so much fuss about it that the bbc doesn't seem to think it's worth doing anymore.

  • This is an excellent reanimation, would it be possible for you to do the whole story?

  • Very well done. I like the facial expression change near the end. Very convincing.

  • This is excellent!

  • Wow. That's some of the best Who animation i've seen. I'd love to see some missing Troughton stories done in this style. Brilliant!

  • Awesome!

  • this is brilliant in every aspect. camera movement, animation, lighting everything.

  • @klisher Agreed. This is excellent.

  • Amazing work! I'd love to see an entire missing story done to this level of quality. What software was used to make this? There's something about it that makes me thin it was done with Valve's Source engine.

  • Absolutely brilliant mate!

  • Awesome recartion

  • Absolutely 100% Brilliant! The animation is very smooth and fits with the audio very nicely.

    Jamie

  • While this is great work, could you get the face to be more like Troughton's?

  • Very good! More of the missing esp should be animation like this. I like how the missing parts of 'invansion' were done. But, like most of the comments posted this is far better.

  • This is really good! You should make recons

  • Comment removed

  • @yeepsi Probably from The Enemy of the World Audio CD.

  • @yeepsi

It tells you in the video information just below the video itself...

  • I'm convinced you could construct the 4th episode of 'The Tenth Planet' What a plus that would be. I've not seen it since 1966 Ps the Cybermen were far more intelligent and frightening then the present lof of over theatrical tin soldiers

  • That is exceptionally good. I am extremely impressed with the skill of your work.

  • Not even considering the stellar work that's been done here, that trailer is jolly epic, isnt it, for it's time? The announcer at the end, the music... cor, that's bloody exciting.

  • Can you Make the full version of the episode aka the web of fear in animatesion

  • This is the only person who could do this scene.Eveything he says is what you would expect from him. It's also nice how he reasures you by asking you that if your scared hold your mum and dad's hand. Its Bad how its gone it would have been nice to have seen it for real. Sorry if i said "it" to much and it has annoyed you

  • Absolutely amazing quality!

  • What programme did you use to make this? it's really good!!!

  • Much better animation then some of the other examples on youtube. Shame you cant use motion capture.

  • this is brilliant!

  • Brilliant my favourite Doctor too.

  • Fantastic! I just about remember this being transmitted. DRRevamp is right, he did sit on the platform edge, I remember the London Underground roundel on the wall behind him

  • Thank you for posting this especilly since I never go to see this because I live in the Us and I was only 3 then.

  • I meant I never got to see it.

  • absolutely fantastic recreation, if only they used this to recreate all the missing episodes, theyv been unseen by many whofans, myself included, for far too long!

  • hi check my account out for doctor who vids and more!

  • Fifty million times better than Dreamland.

  • the animation on dreamland is horible

  • Too bad they'll never be able to spend the money required for this level of character animation. I mean this animator really put work into it, really brings out Throughton's personality... That's top notch work.

  • @hcvang agreed. I think it's an awful shame, as so many of the audio recordings exist, so, they could use the same process of tracking through the original script to find out camera angles, e.t.c, that they used for The Invasion eps 1 and 4. It may take a little more time and effort, but this is exactly what we've all as whovians been looking for! If I had the money, I would most certainly fund this type of process. Good Job.

  • @IanLevine Dreamland was embarrassing.

  • @Durwood71 Dreamland was quite good fun actually IMO

  • @BillyIsATwat23 It may have been "good fun", but it had atrocious production values.

  • @Durwood71 ;-) Oh bog off back to your fan reconstructed Marco Polo DVD-R collection nerd :-P

  • Pity, I would have loved to have seen that.

  • That was pure awesomeness!! Well done!

  • Just a small point I remember this trailer when it was first broadcast and the Dr.(Pat Troughton) sat on the edge of the platform. It is nice CGI though

  • That means he did not sit on a bench right? Maybe u should restore this the way you remember it. That would be interesting to see.

  • Great work, you should do some lost episodes...

  • Wow... very impressive - and very rare too.

  • That was beautiful. :)

  • what did you do that with?

  • Very good tardistimegirl, I'm really impressed!

  • That was really good!

  • coudn't agree more it brilliant well done

  • Incredible!!!! Very well done. The facial features, expressions, everything!!!!

    Bravo!!!!!!!

  • WOW!

  • REALLY GOOD stuff. Love it, the facial features very good indeed

  • Quite an oddity, this.

  • outstanding job!!!

  • Amazing work. Well done.

  • That is an amazing rendering of Troughton o_o

  • Good heavens, that's utterly fantastic!

  • WOW! I actually remember this trailer, I think, but in my memory it was in a London Underground tunnel at the end of the "Yeti" series, and the "old friends" were the Cybermen! Strange... Either way, presumably, it was hoped that viewers could be persuaded not to turn off because they'd found the Yetis/Cybermen UNfrightening the last time.

  • you are thinking of the invasion

  • My god!! I've always wanted to see this promo and you've done a cracking job with it. Remember Pat's dead tooth at the bottom...

    Brilliant though. :)

  • *Jaw drops* That is bloody amazing! Are there plans for an entire episode? Loving it!

  • Very well done :-) Pat Troughton is my favourite Doctor

  • I really want the BBC to animate all of the lost stories and episodes! I mean to them it was really expensive for The Invasion, but come on. Shows like Spongebob Squarepants don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars to make the episodes, but they do it. And the animation is great. And look here. People on Youtube animating episodes for hardly anything, even for free!

I WANT RECONSTRUCTION DVDS! Even if it's not very good animation!

    WHO'S WITH ME?

  • Well they didn't earn enough from the DVD sales to justify the cost of reanimating them. They aren't going to be broadcast on television, so only BBC Worldwide are allowed to spend money on it and it's the law that not a single penny from anywhere else in the BBC but BBC Worldwide can spend money on commercial ventures like this.

It's just the way it is. You're just gunna have to put up with it I'm afraid.

  • It's the new generation I feel for though.. Poor kids. They are without quality British Science Fiction. Oh yeah, check ya E-mail! I've sent you a message Michael!

  • I'm shocked. 14 you say? My God. Then again, if you even slightly an individual.. You can understand the faults of the New Series. It's Like OK magazine, Elton John & Russell Brand all Wrapped into one shity program!

  • What a Great Suggestion! Thanks man! Just what I've been looking for! Can't thank you enough! If you live local .. I'll buy you a drink!

  • Well you sure know your stuff fella! Very Impressive I must say. Yeh Tristam Carey's last work was The Mutants if my memory serves me right.

The Orchestral shite today is crap. Just like the new series on the whole. If you haven't watched it already, go to My Faves & watch a video called 'Dr Who - Old Vs. New'. It's a brilliant Video!

But yeh, Delia Derbyshire is Turning in her grave no thanks to a) The BBC Bottling it & resorting to Orchestral Music & b) Murray's awful arrangement of the theme.

  • Oh yes! And we see the entrance of the Brigadear! Only one episode of this exists & a few clips here & there. The 1st episode I think. And yeh.. The bit where the Professor tries to convince that other bloke that these things are dangerous is well creepy! Love the Stock Music from that scene aswell. Gota love the Music in Dr Who aint ya?

If you want to learn more about the Music in Dr Who, or desire to have MP3s of some of the classic sounds from this era, then message me & we'l swap E-mails!

  • Yeh, there's only one vault that we haven't searched now & I doubt we will ever be able to if this petty war carries on. But otherwise, I think that we have found all that exist. So sad. I'd love to see all of the space Pirates, or Marco Polo, The Highlanders & of course Fury from the Deep!

It's Typical that they loose Dr Who's Most chilling era. The Faceless ones, Power & Evil of Daleks, The Moonbase etc. Still, at least we still have Tomb & Mind Robber.. They're Classics!

  • It bring many fracking tears to my eyes knowing that this story & many others don't exist! BBC British Bastards Corp.

    Great work here.. Very pro.

  • Very cool!

  • WELL DONE ! LOVE DOCTOR WHO

  • Very well done, its amazing this audio bits have survived.

  • Brilliant.

  • OMG I think I just had an orgasm! That was the best thing ever! I WANT A YETI!

  • wow...more! make more!!!

  • wow that was cool. you brought patrick troughton from the dead!

  • Great work, i'd love to see this story in full, animated or otherwise!

  • this is amazing!

    5 stars!

  • This was absolutely brill! We need to get talent like yours to work on recreating the lost episodes!

  • omg, can you find any other "Lost" trailers and post them please, we love them. Have you seen the Power of The Daleks trailer on the lost in time box set.

  • Brill! Just one small point, the announcer would have read out what he said over a caption "DOCTOR WHO Saturday 5:25pm BBC-1", rather than the wristwatch globe.

  • Wow, that was brilliantly made, and I loved to see good old Patrick again (and Yeti, I want the Great Intelligence back in the new series one day).

  • Amazing! Please make more of these1 With luck we can recreate all the lost episodes this way!

  • OMG WOW Thats All I Can Say

  • This is great.

  • Excellent!

  • Great work

  • Brilliant.....thanks for the effort,it's suberb!

  • wow he seems so nice. especialy how he says "If your mummy and daddy get scared well you can just hold their hand." how kind of him!

  • That is neato! Nice job.

  • Enjoyed that very much. Thank you for sharing the terrific work. x

  • Brillant work.

  • Excellent work!

  • Fantastic work! Thanks for a wonderful treat. I hope you are encouraged to do more like this.

  • this is simply incredible

  • Amazing

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • Amazing, truly amazing!

  • Brilliant, if the BBC hired you to do all the episodes, it would make alot of fans happy, the telesnaps are ok, but this is far superior, keep it up.

  • AWESOME!!!! WOW! I agree with

Dalekfactor7 the BBC should get you to do the lost episodes!!

But I doubt it as they need to be able to afford Jonathan Ross!

  • Briliant the BBC should hire you to recreate lost episodes!

  • Brillant! Loved it to bits!

  • Incredible!!!

  • My word! That's absolutely awesome! Seriously try to recreate some more lost footage! 10+/10; first class; A****; FANTASTIC!

  • This Looks So Cool!!!

  • Excellent - perfect. Thank you.

  • its so realistic its creepy

  • fantastic stuff, you've truly captured the

second doctors likeness and mannerisms.. one word AMAZING!!!!

  • Brilliant

  • Dude please do some episodes. I'm bad with character animation but I'm great with backgrounds and machines. I'm make the backgrounds for you just do the sound sync and the characters. THAT LOOKED FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! this is awesome!!!!

  • Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Bloody brilliant

  • Absolutley brilliant! i love it i was going to do something simular with telesnaps but you beat me to it and im glad you did.

  • FANTASTIC!!! 1000 Stars!!! SUPERB!!! There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe how brilliant this is!!!

  • I shed a small tear of happiness upon seeing this. I especially love the jolt that the Doctor gets at the beginning of the trailer. You have captured the great Patrick Troughton so perfectly. BBC Worldwide should open their wallets and let you do your magic. Many thanks for this.

  • THAT WAS AMAZING!

The Web of Fear, was/is quite scary for little kids so I can understand why they made this trailer. But the trialer was also scary?!?

    AWESOME RECONSTRUCTION!

  • WOW!! thats fantastic!! you should get some evil of the daleks stuff done, or some of the audio stories

  • Very good!

  • That,is really rather something =)

  • Gorgeous. Thanks for letting us see it!

  • Super proud of you! Good work

  • Yeah I agree season 5 is great. I really wish I could have seen it but I have heard all of it on CD and it sounds great and I have seen the incompleate episodes and there fantastic. Hey why not do a whole episode rather then a trailer? it would be great

  • AMAZING! Season 5 is THEE best of all DW. Sadly, it's missing the most eps. S5 defined DR Who as we know it today. This clip was done with love and I appreciate your efforts. Do more, please!

  • Start doing some reconstructions. The BBC should hire you just for them! Where's the petition. I'll sign it!

  • I would agree! They should hire you to fill in some bits. Amazing work!

  • A Brilliant piece of work!

  • Apsolutly superb animation, totally blown away by the lifelike characterisation of the 2nd Doc.You are supremely gifted & talented.Keep up the good work. :)

  • Bloody brilliant. I want all his missing episodes recreated like this! :) With the miracle of CGI, Hartnell and Troughton should live forever!

    Ade

  • This is cool - it has a sorta Gerry Anderson (Late 1960's) feel to it. I Like it! :)

  • Wow. In the US, they'd just say "Due to some violent content, viewer discretion is advised."

  • That was awesome.

  • Fantastic!

  • That is really really really good.

    First class job.

    Thoroughly enjoyed it.

How about doing the complete story now ;)

  • Excellent job! I bet Troughton himself would be proud of that :)

To everyone poo-pooing the Invasion animated segments, I loaned the DVD to two fans of old Who (one of whom is my grandad, he likes his Who REALLY OLD), both were very skeptical

and then returned the DVD and said how impressed they were with 'the cartoon episodes'

  • Words can't some up this video! My Uncle was about fifteen when this trailer was shown, he watched this video with me and said it was basically the same except he ran down from the tunnel and sat on a platform! Other than that I would love to see you recreate some scenes from this story, the audio does it no justice!

    Keep up the good work!

  • Brilliant!

  • I've seen most of the CG recons on here - that's by far and away the best. Well done you!!

  • Absolutely amazing! :)

  • Absolutely astonishingly good. I was never that keen on The Invasion animation - it was ok but not that lifelike. This is. It's almost exactly like the real Patrick Troughton even down to the facial expressions. I just hope this kind of animation is used for all the missing episodes. Only thing that needs a bit more work is the walking as it's a bit gorilla-ish at the moment.

  • Well, it's about as realistic as the Invasion animation is - this is just in 3D. Movements are still cartoony as hell, but its very good nonetheless. I'll bet it was done on spare time, too. Marvellous.

Frankly, I'd rather like to speak to the creator about some commissions...

  • I think his eyes need to be slightly wider apart, and his head a little longer from back to front... nice movement though.

  • Absoultely superb!!!!!

  • Superb! Very impressed at the way you've captured Troughton's mannerisms.

  • That is made of awesome.

  • You are a genius.

    You are FANTASTIC.

    You are the BEST

You put all the amateurs to shame.

There are not enough words in the dictionary for me to praise your volume of talents, and you are the hope for the future, the guiding light, and the first real chance we have ever had of getting our missing classics back to existence.

Your style of animating Troughton's mouth and his eyes and his mannerisms put The Invasion to shame, and THAT is saying something.

    AMAZING.
