How can that horse shit ever be as exciting as a sport where literally any fight technique you want can be utilized, from Muay Thai to Jiu Jitsu to Boxing to Sambo to Karate to Kickboxing. It encompasses everything, therefore it's superior.

I think Toney is trying to dismiss Dana's concerns about his ability to defend takedowns and legkicks just to settle the arguement of boxing vs MMA. The thing about the debate is that one fight will not settle anything. Getting caught and knocked out doesn't make one fighter better than another. Remember the GSP-Serra fight? Serra caught GSP and took advantage, but in the rematch GSP dismantled Serra. Boxers have the power to contend in MMA, but they need all the tools or they become a timebomb.

Let me be the first to tell those people; James Toney is one of the most technically sound, skilled, and feared, heavyweights in boxing history. @periechontology It really wouldn't. You're still only allowed to do a set number of moves. K1 outright banned the muay thai clinch, and for a few years before that they made it so you could only throw 1 strike in the clinch and had to let it go after.
How can that horse shit ever be as exciting as a sport where literally any fight technique you want can be utilized, from Muay Thai to Jiu Jitsu to Boxing to Sambo to Karate to Kickboxing. It encompasses everything, therefore it's superior.

And guess what? 9 times out of 10, the grappler beats the striker. It's a fact. I'm sorry that this isn't an alternate reality where fights are kickboxing matches, but in real life, 90% of fights go to the ground and most of them are over in less than a minute. MMA is a way to convey realistic fighting between the best competitors in the world.

I think Toney is trying to dismiss Dana's concerns about his ability to defend takedowns and legkicks just to settle the arguement of boxing vs MMA. The thing about the debate is that one fight will not settle anything. Getting caught and knocked out doesn't make one fighter better than another. Remember the GSP-Serra fight? Serra caught GSP and took advantage, but in the rematch GSP dismantled Serra. Boxers have the power to contend in MMA, but they need all the tools or they become a timebomb.

MMA will be dancing on boxings grave in a few years, Boxing has been dying for several years now. Only hardcore boxing fans even know who the HW Champ is, who is he? NO ONE CARES! when was the last time boxing had a relevant PPV? Look boxing USED to be good back in the 80's and 90's. Bottom line is that MMA is here to stay and its only gettin bigger. RIP Boxing

@Randy2477 and mma is facing the same problem as boxing, it has a bunch of half ass fighters, that are gonna be fighting diminshing the skill of the sport. it is the truth, it sucks but when you have a bunch a people who want only money and dont care about the fighters the sport suffers.

@ggqbc i dont care how much training he gets, he will never have the MMA skill that Randy has!!! I predict Randy will do like he said he was gonna do and give James a proper welcome to MMA...
