  • This is so amazing to watch this!! as a Taiko player myself I can appreciate the hard work that went into doing this! Awesome work guys... this got me excited about Taiko all over again!

  • thank you so much for sharing this video... It is my best medicine... Ki really works when you understand how to direct and re-direct electro-magnetic energies with sound (wave and matter)... with love

  • I miss the performances of Sacramento Taiko Dan. I always have to work when they perform these days. Watching this on Youtube is good, but being there is awesome!

  • this is major sacred and the energy is flowing through my body.. or should i say 'ki'

  • soooo... south asian indians are not the only culture to use the conch shell... how beautiful and together we should be

  • From the group's website: "Tsunami" Performed proudly with explicit permission by Grand Master Seiichi Tanaka. Fushu Daiko is honored to be considered worthy by Sensei Tanaka to perform this prestigious piece.

In that case, they have my blessing :)

  • Did they get Tanaka-sensei's permission to perform his piece? I've only seen it done by the SF Taiko Dojo.

  • Outstanding performance, mindblown!

  • Awsome. Just awsome.

  • This is a great video, because it shows how loud they are. Especially when you watch it from the beginning.

Is there any amplification? Where are the microphones? No? Then its the real deal. They dont need amplification.

  • @kurtilein3 No electronic enhancemens needed. It gets the blood pumping. Definitely !

  • sounds great but looks like angermanagement :P

Still impressive to keep beating so long :-o

  • Kiara,9yrs old! this is AWESOME!

  • Is the gong a traditional Japanese instrument or is it Chinese? If it is from Japan, what is it's name in Japanese? If know there are traditional Japanese gongs, but there sound is very different from this gong's.

  • This, is wonderful! I really do wish I had the energy and physical ability to just hit those Taiko drums and be one of the crew, I really wish I could!

This is amazing, I love the synchronization that the team has and how enthusiasum (sp?) they have!

It is just inspiring and makes me want to move, it shifts my soul!

Very well done, and I can't wait to see more like this!

  • Has anyone noticed that the drums tell a story. Musically the beats and changes in rythem depicts how a tsunami is. First it starts quite calm, just like the beginning of a tsunami, then the drums become stronger as if a large towering wave was storming in. And as the "wave" picks up speed so do the drums. Until finally the wave crashes into the shoreline and the devastation occurs. The big drum with the two guys is most likely the crashing wave, just showing how monstrous the wave is.

  • even the gong sounds like part of a wave. Taiko drumming is so much fun

  • @PANDORASBOXRELEASE You read my mind. was thinking exactly the same. the name fits perfectly!

  • shoulders of steel.

  • this is seriously awesome.

  • now those are drums

  • man, this must be quite a work out! i wish there was a professional mp3 of this, so that i could use it to get pumped up for stuff :)

  • White people? o_o

    I'm white.

Where can I get in on this? xD

  • KICK ASS!!! that had to be one of the greatest performances i have ever heard!!!

  • Japanese are awesome... respect from Ireland

  • at 4:43 the white guys seems to be punching the drum... -.-

  • subarashii !

  • i wish the people in the crowd would shut the fuck up

  • @DaScrewUp Me too

  • Comment removed

  • This is awesome. I can't explain it. It's something about the beauty and cultural diversity of this planet that is just really inspiring sometimes. Thank God for YouTube so I can see stuff like this in the morning before I go to class :P

  • Haha, else noticed the drummer at 7:54 on the far left? I guess after the drum cry he was so pumped for energy he hit the stick out of his hand

  • HOLY CRAP!!! I WANNA DO THIS NOW!!!! NO MORE VIDEO GAMES FOR ME!!!!

  • Taiko Drumming is my life I'm planning to go under Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka when i'm 21 3 more years -.-

  • awesome performance!!

    素晴らしいパフォーマンスですね

    全力を出し切った感じが最高です!

  • Now THAT'S a mother fuckin' drum circle!

  • I have to say, seeing these gaijin pounding away put me off at first, but I got over it fast! This has to be the most energetic performances I have ever seen, and Taiko as performed by "real japanese" musicians can feel a bit dry and academic. This was amazing. 5 stars. I'm going to look into this group.

  • The yelling is part of the show. It's to give your team energy. Taiko is all about the energy, guys. And hearing it from the crowd gives us all the more energy to pound it out on those drums.

Taiko takes a lot of work. Take it from me; I'm a taiko drummer myself. And I throughly enjoy listening to this. Makes me want to pick up my bachi and start practicing some more. (And white, black, asian, it doesn't matter. If you feel the energy, you can do it just as well and with just as much feeling.)

  • @sorcerousfang bravo on that comment !!

  • ONE F***** QUESTION:What they are hearing when they are screaming?Shut your f**** mouth when the ART is going!!! Awsome performance, but I just can't focus. Fuc*** "popcorn in theatre MTV hamburger whatever unartable " audience.

  • @Ciula What the fuck are you saying?

  • @Ciula the screaming if coming from their teammates, it gives them power... save your acid comments for an art you know about please

  • @aReZneR eat your hamburger, and save your acid PM

  • Decent Taiko drumming, although I cant get over how awkward to see white people doing it...

  • @iverson25allen i agree !! some of us non Japanese, love Japan so much we're trying our hand at what used to be an only Japanese art form.

to see me doing Calligraphy (i'm from Maine ... USA mind you) would look rather odd i'm sure, but one of these days i plan on moving back to Sasebo and god willing marry a Japanese girl there (^.^) !

  • @richsail47 marry a japanses girl in osaka, get some sake, become martial arts master, and be a great samurai... im a white man from Oklahoma, I don't mix either, but we're all humans. at least I know im not alone in my wishes to be japanese

  • @Coaco98 .... working on the marrage part :D

i prefer Shu-hi (sp) and one of the flavorings... so far i'm learning calligraphy.. i figure it's a start... spent 3 weeks over there last month and already planning on my next visit.

    just can't get enough.

  • @Coaco98 Awsome!!.Japanese culture is absolutly beautiful and it's people are the best in the world. What a work-out.

  • I just 5king had a headache

  • oh lordy...i hope i dont sound corny but i feel like this is perfect medicine to remove inner demons.....esp, envy & anger LMAO

  • Awesome drumming but it loses a lot with the the yelling, must be the American influence, how regrettable.

  • better than antidepressants 3:-)

  • too bad it isnt the Shogun 2 Tsunami, that would be sick

  • i was ok till the blowing into the shell

    excellent

  • It is such an honor to be one of the few chosen teams by Sensei Tanaka to play this arrangement. Every time you play you must try to give %110 of your sincerity and dedication. I hope that we make him proud with our attempt. He is a mountain in our taiko landscape. With appreciation, - Ben Miller

  • 1: I plan to listen to this the next time it rains hard.

2: What are the different kinds of taiko drums?

  • @WarBandit111 taiko in japanese mean drum so all the japanese drum's are taiko except the one that have a hourglass shape

  • Hi, thanks for the post. Our URL is now .ORG. Would you be able to correct?

  • lol its awsome that we white guys love to cheer lol but in Japan they'd watch

  • Very wonderful "kumi-taiko" or grouped taiko drums' performance.

  • they must have ALOT of experience with those taiko drums... if i tried to play that, i would smack my face with the drumsticks right at the first note!

  • i was lucky enough to see this troupe twice here in boston many years ago when they first started traveling. first at an outdoor concert on the banks of the Charles River. i was so taken by their performance that i went a few days later to see them at Boston's Symphony Hall. one of the most thrilling performances ever. being in a concert hall enhances the whole perfomance. the drumming utterly "drums" through your whole body.

  • What's up with the white kid.

  • @AmericanShadowman who cares when the white kid can play just as well as the rest of 'em? :D

  • excelente!!!!

  • Amazing... the awe-inspiring power of these thuderous drums must be experienced in person to be fully appreciated.

  • @sushicinema you said it--I'm sitting at home and listening to this on not-so-good computer speakers and I've still got tears in my eyes from how utterly amazing it is. just... WOW.

  • @sushicinema Same too many people are talking and making it kinda hard to hear

  • @sushicinema that they are ...you feel the drums when you are there....its something i'll never forget

for some reason it reminded me of being on an Aircraft carrier in WWII with these playing in backround

  • @sushicinema or played...
