Very talented!!! But I have to agree with other posts: in my opinion the execution of this materpiece requires A LOT of expression!!! Don't worry: with your talent more expression is very simple to achieve
I really enjoyed your rendition of this masterpiece, you obviously have great skill as a pianist/keyboardist, remember even Banks himself doesn't seem to want to play this live ( surely it aint too hard for HIM !! )
I think the quality of recording didn't help in letting us hear your expression, so don't be annoyed by some of the crap comments, just remember, there are those who can really play, & the rest of us become critics !!
How can this be? It is indoubtedly a flawless performance, however, put EXPRESSION into it. this cannot be taught. You must find it in yourself, and you have,as of yet, not. I am so terribly sorry to contradict everyone here, but it was a very dry performance
this is very good- but if you'd play that along with the original performance- you'd find that there are quite a few mistakes along the way... nevertheless, that's great :D
by the way, i have written down the sheet music for this and printed it, i think it's fairly accurate... is anyone interested?
some people are so jealous, they make bad comments, but have no talent. you did a GREAT JOB and must have practiced a lot. thank you for posting this video.
Hey man, looks really EASY how you play that intro. very good! but i know it is hard work. i also play it, but i always mess up with the damn left hand, because i never had piano lessons! keep on posting!
Nice job. I have the sheet music for that. I found it online about 5 years ago. It was transcribed by some oriental person, I believe. It's only 2 sheets of paper but I worked at it for a long time and eventually played the instrumental section with a band but I usually screwed it so we dropped it. We'd go from middle on out through the last verse, etc. If anyone wants the sheet music and can't find it I might be able to help. email me at jimhere1961 at yahoo
I've heard/seen the nearly exact note for note piano solo of this song on four different youtube vids. All great. Wondering, is there a songbook from which all are reading from, methinks so. Keep up the great work. What do you think of "Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man" Genesis youtube vid I did for my boy?
nice. you should take that middle part (the one in e minor where peter gabriel has the flute solo) and add that to the beginning, playing the flute part on piano like tony banks used to do after gabriel left the band.. i used to play this back in the day, and always did that. it made for a nice buildup to the main piano part.
Awesome; did you have actual music for that or did you learn it by ear? I got some music but after listening to the actual song again I realized that a bunch of it is wrong.
the path is clear, though no eyes could seee.....
well done!!

Good job. I remember being about 7 years old, and my godparents' son sat down at the piano and played it. I was in absolute awe of the song.

I guess ineptuser is mistaking musical expression by facial expressions.

you must not have ever seen the writer of this song perform.
Tony Banks has about as much expression as a shoebox.
ineptuser 4 years ago
Musical expression is something Banks has in abundance. his skills as a writer and player are outstanding.
I much prefer Banks the way he is instead of those morons who concentrate on looks and image because they have nothing else to offer.
you obviously arent familiar with his works

I like how you play the fast triplets right before the high notes. Why can't my fingers move that fast? I ruin the tempo every time i reach it.

my bassist can play it and he is 14 :S

I played it, and I don't think it is very difficult... you just have to try and try, and you'll learn it ;)

I DO use the pedal throughout song. Just listen to the beginning, there's a hold on the Bb bass...

It sounds emotionless because he plays all the notes with the same loudness. Sounds robotic like someone talking monotone.
