Can you do a Lois Lane tutorial? Some more ways to dress up your ponytail in a cute pin up way would be nice. Some more updos for spring and summer for the hot weather. Where I live gets super hot like 105 in the summer. I will post videos of myself doing my hair when I can. I learn a lot from you. Thank you.
@VintageGodess10 I have a high humidity hairstyle with a ponytail option and several other options as well. Since my hair is short right now, I can't really do any now but please check my pror videos. :)
Do you have naturally curley hair? Because I do but I want my curls to look like yours after the curlers come off. If I go to sleep with curlers in (when my hair is wed) will it still turn out with those 1940s curls?
@slideshowgurl No my hair is straight. But yu can try these rollers and see what you think of the finished product. It's all about practicing diffeerent techniques on your own hair...
I have been drewling over your hair for three days now... I'm really inspired by your videos! (And they're not as slow as some, good thing.) You must put a lot of time and effort into making them! Thanks for sharing!
I did this hairstyle for halloween and it worked perfectly! I guess when ur a 40s fanatic you'll do anything to get that look right:) Thanks Lisa I love how you get ur styles so perfectly:) Ive watched every video you've uploaded:)
You have the perfect features for the pinup look... I however am half Greek and half Persian...
It's a very exotic look, and I'm aware of how to exaggerate it.... but I'm very much in love with the pin up looks. It just doesn't fit my features... but I'll keep trying.
Pillow rollers are more comfortable to sleep in but I don't recommend using them on towel dried hair because it takes forever for the hair to dry. The sponge roller is more porous and therefore dries more quickly. Not this time, of course. :) However, the curl is very similar.
Hi Lisa, I love your series of videos, you are really talented .
I was wondering if you have any idea of how to keep the curls nice while you are sleeping (and without scaring my husband). The thing is that I love the pinup look and my hair is curly, but I wake up looking like Albert Einstein!
ugh my hair always does that. it literally does not dry when i put it in sponge rollers. i have super thick hair and it always turns out like that, so i just stick with my heated rollers instead.
Mine usually turns out well, as can be seen in other videos. I jsut didnt wait long enough this time. You probably need to be putting less hair on each roller. That will allow the air to drift all the way thru to the sponge and dry. :)
awesome vids sooo beauitiful... im so excited to be growing my hair out! ha ha I always cut it short because I don't know what to do with my hair... this is so fun and beauitiful!! thanks!
First of all, I must say I love all of your tutorials - totally fab and super easy to follow! I do have a question though - I have short hair and want so bad to try the pin curls, but I'm afraid it would look like a big poof ball after brushing it out - any suggestions?
Thanks for all of your wonderful vids, I really enjoy watching them!
See Myrna Loy and Norma Shearer...both achieved pin curls w/ shorter hair and yes, there is a hint of 'poof ball' but that is what trial and error is for. See what works for you...see where you need to place more hair in the pins...use a pomade to tame it. I'm pretty sure you'll find something that works.
Loving your tutorials. Can't wait for my hair to be long enough again so I can start using them! Thank you for making these; I always thought it would be impossible to recreate! =)
Naturally enhanced by Manic Panic...haha. Does that count? Alas, my natural hair color is dirty blonde...I think. It's been awhile since I've seen it!
I love this series of videos you did! I'm actually going to go out and get some sponge curlers tomorrow to try this look. Do you think it would work just as well with my crazy thick hair?
It should work fine and you'll have more volume to work with! But if it turns out too big or if you don't like the results, just keep practicing w/ different ammounts of hair per roller, a different level of 'dampness' with the hair to begin with, or rolling in different directions. Good luck!
I just wanted to let you know that I tried this hairstyle yesterday and I loved it! Thanks for being such a cool retro inspiration and keep up the good work :)
lovely! as always! i have pillow rollers too n i tried using them, but it's so difficult cuz of my layered hair. can you do a tutorial on using pillow rollers? please?
It's easier to use pillow rollers on damp hair and sometimes, you may need to soak the ends even more to get them to stay put while you wind the curl. But I have found that the curls are very forgiving and even if you have to work the loose pieces in sloppily, as you roll, the curls still turns out just fine. :)
SOITENLY! The music is by one of my favorite California Ska bands, The Dance Hall Crashers. These two songs are from their first record...:) 'He Wants Me Back' and "DHC"...

Is there a difference as to which is better, pillow rollers or sponge?
