Jesus taught us that proper education focuses on the truth so we can be free. Unfortunately, there is no such thing taught in modern education; after all, we here in America like to pretend separation of the teachings of Jesus from our children's conscience is somehow a good idea. Little Johnnie and Jenny are taught to get good grades, get a scholarship, so they can go to college and earn more money; the focus of 'education' is thus, completely out of focus with what will actually help us.
A great way to present this issue - the current global economic meltdown unfortunately doesn't seem to have changed world leaders' views of how to get out of it! Maybe this video plus the book "A Short History of Change" by Ronald Wright (2004) should be required reading for all politicians, educationalists and employers!
"Too much capitalism does not mean too many capitalists, but too few capitalists." GK Chesterton.
"Rats and roaches live by competition under the laws of supply and demand; it is the privilege of human beings to live under the laws of justice and mercy." Wendell Berry.
