I would think gearing down the turbine shaft would produce more power as I woud think you'd get fairly abysmal acceleration and hill climbing abilities using just the thrust.
Your problems with the under-steer could be from a poor center of gravity. Those racing slicks like to be hot, too. When you go into a corner, grab the wheel and pull yourself forward and into the corner, that should give you a better idea of what the problem is. Good luck! Great jet!

That is the exhaust gas temperature EGT
The temperature of the gas driving the turbine wheel
800 degC is about the limit
