This brings tears to my eyes... the way IT'S SUPPOSED TO!!!!!! these were the last real opera performances. Keep your Flemings and Di Donato's. This was IT!
Unbelievably moving! Her "crying" singing is one of her best qualities. Such depth of interpretation is something we don't see every day. And her vocal performance is still excellent, considering this 1977 video was made when her prime had alreary finished...
She was just sensational when singing at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires long ago: Cleopatra, Manon, Lucia. You´ll be always remembered. God save the Queen "Bubbles"!
Rest in Peace to a wonderful lady. I met Ms. Sills in my role as meeting planner/guest speaker handler. What a privilege. She was as kind and unaffected as she could be. The highlight of my career!
Henry Price...I always liked that voice. This was one of the first operas I ever saw, on an old VHS that my dad bought at a garage sale because he knew I liked music. Sills is the one who got me hooked on opera.
Elle était magnifique! Et sa prononciation était parfaite.
