@salvadoraugustus. Thank you for the comment. All the food is put on a local lorry which is donated by the haulage company, the lorry arrives at our centre in Bucharest where it is unloaded and placed in our own large store at the back of the residential centre. We have high walls all around the perimeter. I can assure you that the food is not stolen. Thanks again for your comment.
I would like to send some of the soap I make to the street children of Bucharest. Would you take it for me please if I post it to you? I live in Ayr, Scotland. My soaps are made with natural oils. I would send small soaps for the children if you can let me know how many children do you look after.
All perishable food is purchased in Romania, The Irish transport company donates the lorry and lorry man, thus saving on transport costs. And yes, we are currently approaching Romanian businesses, but as you say, they don't look at the situation in the same way, but we're making a start with them. Thank you for your comment and interest.
It's great work what you guys are doing but surely it would save a huge amount of money to buy the food in Romania and by doing so supporting the Romanian economy rather than buying and transporting the food all the way over there??
All non-perishable food is donated by Irish people at food collections outside supermarkets all over Ireland. Even the transport company donates the lorry and lorry man! Fresh meat and vegetables are purchased from local markets in Romania. Thanks for your comment.
I was thinking that exact thing mairtyler, even buying perishables there would save transport costs. Has anyone approached Romanian businesses for donations? I know they don't look at the situation the same as 'western Europeans' might but it's worth a try. It's a great project and I hope it's going well.

just to say i think you are all doing a wonderful job, and the children in Bucharest are so nice and it is so good they have hope, God bless you all.
I make handmade soaps from vegetable oils, and it is so good - if you need any for these children, let me know.
