It would be interesting to see if the dirt from a crop circle worked any better !!! or worse, or any difference at all !!. good video guy. very interesting stuff. got me thinking.
I dont know if you have experimented since the video, but i noticed that the dirt you are using appears to be mostly clay type dirt. There are many types of soils. You may need to add some sort of aggregate. Im not an expert, but a battery produces power off a chemical reaction. That said, you need water, which you have, and there may be minerals in the soil that work against you, like a soil that is more alkali or more acidic may neutralize the reaction, thereby reducing the output.
@roystervi I can hear him, Just need to remember to turn vol, back down. I call this a "Shart my self video" 1 can Shart them selves if they don't turn volume back down when clicking to another video. ;)
I think flattened piece of metal rather than a round piece like a nail would result in higher voltage due to increased surface area in contact with dirt.
IMPORTANT question.. what is the best way to produce more power with more lifetime ? is it the amount of sells u create / the more mud in each sell / "rotating" the copper more then twice around the nail ? what is the best "thing" to putt in the sells ?
sir if we make a mix of salt mgso4 and kmno4 and mud then i think it works the best because every material i mentioned makes a small amount of current just try it and help me out please
the only way to raise the amperage is to make the anode (Neg. - Zinc) surface area larger. the larger the surface area the more the amperage! Even if you use a 4'x4' square of sheet metal it will not make more than 1.5-2 vdc. you must hook in series but a plate that size will crank out the amps.. Salt water is best or some acid like vinegar or lemon juice. actually just stick nickels and pennies into lemons and they will do same thing if you keep lemons on a plastic sheet! Cheers!
they last as long as the galvanized nail has zinc on it. Once the Zinc anode rots away the battery is finished. They cannot be recharged! this is called "Galvanic" electricity. the copper cathode will not rot but the zinc anode will. Use salt water to mix in the dirt and it will make more voltage. even like all batteries they will never make more than 1.5-2 vdc. even a 12 volt car battery has 6 - 2 volt cells in series and Duracell batteries are 1.5 vdc as they are just carbon and zinc!
you should used somthing acid lemon to increas the chemical efect on it ,and realease more power .and yes becas you whast it alot of power whas draind away by the water .
Howdy Lord ! I have made what you made a little different. I use mortor with fine sand ,copper, and alluminum wire. I have a carbon rod in the ground and hook that to the aluminum wire side of the EB.I put an aluminum pipe to the south, I hooked up leds between the copper side of the EB and the aluminum pipe They have been on for over four years. So it is hooked too the ground in series w/ the EB.I have hooked car batteries to the ground with good results. They need water every coulple of years.
Interesting idea, you have to wonder what a large, buried and optimised cell bank right in the acidic subsoil could deliver in terms of current. Some way would have to be found of separating each "cell" electrically, but it could be done. Theoretically, nature would replace the lost soil acidity through breakdown of organic matter and the generation of nitrates and keep the battery 'charged'.
Great experiment. Have you tried acidifying the soil with vinegar or lemon juice etc?
Well under good conditions you will find this design will START its life over 20Volts+ i have built many of these and i can grantee you that much just copy my design. Make sure you use good quality copper very important in the build as this is one of the main conductors. This battery is extremely low on mille Amps if you stay tuned to this channel I’m working on a work around for that.
As far as life goes POOR compared to a normal $2.00 alkaline battery but good for free ECO power device. It will power X1 LED for one WEEK continues NO PROBLEM! It will dim by day 5 but still enough to see it in the dark. Depends on LED Size.. I tested it using 5mm LED’s..
As far as recharging It re-dirtying it takes about 5-10 minutes and can be done about X2, 3 times at best each time getting a shorter life span .
If you change the connecters EG: copper and zinc it will continue its cycle for ever but is pointless as the time to change the connections will out way just using an alkaline battery. SO IT’S NOT VERY Practical. HOW EVER I believe there is a way improving this.
Please remember it’s not the dirt creating the power the dirt (Earth) Can be substituted for other properties EG: CLAY, FLOUR, JUICE may other chemical properties ETC... THE KEY is to have it moist WATER IS THE KEY it will run on water alone if you can stop the water from coming out of the unit.. If you put your mind to it you can achieve anything..

Seems like if you had a small copper plate in each cell instead of just a copper wire you would greatly increase the voltage.

Try some magnetite mixed in with earth. It may increase your voltage.
