  • they were used a lot in Australia and the USA yes we have some imported trucks RS haul had a fleet of modified landtrains longer chassis and a box cabin at the back they were used up to the early 1990s best foreign truck IMHO sad 2 see its not around

  • Ive just found something interesting on Youtube. Put Yorkie Chocolate into Youtube and youll see an old Ad featuring a fleet of some of the last Leyland Landtrains. This was part of a fleet of these belonging to Pilot Distribution ( now I believe part of Canute ) These were the top spec highway tractor version of the Landtrain . Theyre all 1986 / 1987 3029 s with the 12 litre Leyland engine. This fleet was also used by Carters soft drinks. Super trucks , rarely seen now sadly.

  • Nice to see the Leyland Landtrain. These were very under rated and little known trucks made by Leyland. I used to drive two of these ( I am retired from driving now ). The last one was a 1986 3029 double drive tractor unit . It was a regular road going tractor unit and a lighter version of the one in this video , plus a lot more refined / comfortable. These were superb trucks but quite rare here in the UK . Very reliable and very easy to work on. You hardly ever hear or see of them now.
