  • Nice song.

  • THIS ... IS ... AWESOME!! WELL DONE!! :)

  • That's Jeff Daniels singing/playing - thanks for sharing this!

  • Michigan...Bad ass as always. But seriously, this got me a little teared up. Great job.

  • I left the Detroit area because of the numbskulls running down state and moved to the Travrese city area...ill never return to lower michigan..

  • @wolverine58 There are numb-skulls everywhere, including Traverse City.

  • As a Maryland Unionist, let me say...I like your state's version of this tune a lot better than ours!

  • I have never actually left the state. I'm proud to be in Michigan, but it really sucks right now because my uncle and cousins live in Texas and my cousin just had a baby with a girl I don't even know her name, and my oldest and only girl cousin is getting married to a guy I never met. Oh Michigan!

  • I have never been so proud to call myself Michigan born and raised. This song brought tears to my eyes.

  • I once visited Traverse City. BEAUTIFUL!

    Cheers from Massachusetts

  • @Thelookoutslookout In about 21 day we'll be kicking off the National Cherry Fest which is July 2nd, hope to see you there in Traverse City :)

  • Now you've gone and done it... lol... putting tears in m'eyes and a lump in m'throat.

I proudly accept this tribute as being one born in this great lake state of mine; Michigan, My Michigan.

Excellent presentation... and very deeply appreciated.

  • Trolls? What do you have 'gainst the LP?

In all serious, beautiful, truly. :)

  • Nice video. Its funny so often referred to as a "civil war" but in fact it was a war against succession, that's it.

  • I love this song, it touches my heart.

  • my great great great great grandpa served in the civil war from michigan where my whole family and I are from

  • Oh, and greetings from the Furniture City.

  • -tears-

You oft-downtrodden, bankrupt, rust and concrete-blighted, water-bound, snow covered, too hot in the summer too cold in the winter, fields of lazy greens, autumn of brightest reds, seas of simmering blues, unemployed and out of the way; most BELOVED republic and land of my birth, how I love you more than life itself!

  • I always loved the state when I did my "High school years" there. ^_^ Just as Cold as england. XD I was right at home.

  • What a great song!! I may not like the cold, but I have ALWAYS loved My Michigan!! Makes me proud to be a Michigander!!

  • It's a beautiful tribute.

  • I WILL FOREVER LOVE MICHIGAN. THE UPPER AND LOWER PENINSULA UNITED! The most simple yet appreciative people I have ever known! The most diverse land I've seen in a single state with the most diverse people!

  • At 1:11 I know that place! thats a bend in the Asauble River, I go canoing there all the time when Im up north!

  • my dearly missed home Michigan!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Photo of the Asian American at 2:25- what's the history of that? Is he from a Michigan unit? Nice tribute to my home state btw!

  • @Cashtro5 That photo is of Felix Baldberry who was born in the Philippines in 1842 and served with the 11th Michigan. He was one of some twenty Filipinos to have served the Union. Before the war, Baldberry served on an American merchant ship and immigrated to Leonidas, Michigan when his Captain retired and offered him a job. He enlisted in 1863, served in Georgia and Tennessee, survived and returned to Michigan where he married and worked as a tailor until his death in 1895.

  • @WelshWebb im of filipino decent, and its awesome that some of us served in the American Civil War. A Good tribute as well ^^

  • @Cashtro5 was up im a fellow wolerines greetings from detroit

  • Beautiful song, just not long ago someone sent a reply comment to me after saying about this ipad install in car....which I have to see to believe, I wrote down comment about text and driving and now these smoke ban. This guy say "Cuz your state sucks". I wanna scream at him, however I give him our motto:

"If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you."

I'm proud to be living in this beauty state and I wouldn't care to go to heaven. Michigan, My Michigan is my heaven place.

  • @DogmanIsReal Sadly, our so-called "leadership" is doing their best to make this a less pleasant peninsula and something more akin to a nanny state. The strength and spirit of those Michigan men who served in the Civil War does not flow through the veins of those who serve in Lansing.

  • @WelshWebb Sorry took so long to reply, but I agree we became the nanny state. But anyone who insult this state of michigan going to get the old yopper can of whoop ass and i can play dirty if I want to.

  • Wonderful video, thanks for uploading it.

  • anyone notice the tune is almost exactly the same as o tannenbaum

  • @wilso2k That's because it is. It's also the same melody used in the song "Maryland my Maryland."

  • great job!

  • Great video

  • Even thought there were a few verses that were left out its a great song Im proud to be from Michigan the Greatest State in the country

  • I had a hard time finding a decent rendition of "Michigan, my Michigan" so I settled for this one by actor Jeff Daniels. But you are quite correct, it's sadly shy on verses.

Likely that's just a well as I was having a very hard time finding enough good Michigan related Civil War photos to make up the video!

  • yea you can find the whole song on wikipedia

  • you can find the whole song on Wikipedia and as a Member of the Sally Port Mess this is by far the best song ever

  • As a member of the 21st Michigan Volunteer Infantry Company H, I am proud of what they have done during the Civil War.

  • I moved out of Michigan 5 years ago. This video and song just put tears in my eyes I miss home so much.

Awesome work, I am sharing this with friends and family.

  • I moved to Texas five years ago and realized I made a serious mistake a week later. It took me four months to raise enough funds to move back.

I love this state and her history, but our economy is shot, our state government filled with complete idiots and our weather this year has been pure rubbish. So you're not missing much right now.

Hopefully things will turn around and I won't have to move again myself. I can handle the weather...I can't handle the poverty much longer.

  • I've been gone eight years. I miss it too.

  • Michigan rocks! I am a proud Michigander and i hate it how buckeyes treat us like slaves just cause we lost at football a few times against them (wolveriens actually won more games than the bucks

  • Beautiful song. I moved away from Michigan when I was 7 (31 now) and miss it so much.

  • Thanks for uploading. I am able to say that I am a proud Michigander!

  • @mrtrouble01

Sure you're not a Michigoose? I prefer Michiganian.

    :) Howdy neighbor

  • Thank you both. I'm looking to join the Michigan 24th this week after meeting them during the Plymouth Independence Day parade. There may be larger reenactor groups, but having lived in Plymouth for 10 years, the 24th is near and dear to my heart.

  • As a membwer of 1st Mich Light Artillery Batt C Reenactors, I must say this is well done and welcome.

  • @redleg269 im a member of the 4th michigan reenactors

  • God Bless Custer's Wolverines!
