Thanks for the video! The Poly 61 was my first real keyboard as a 15-year old, and I am now rediscovering its wonders as a 42 year old with may too much gear to choose from...Love the percussive organ tone it has...
I wish I had this one... I got a Yamaha DX7 (Classic), Ensoniq Mirage, Casio CZ-1, and Oberheim Matrix 6. Nice Playing! Nice Patches! Does anyone know of an arpeggiator that you can use like an effects pedal?
What a Brilliant Demo. if only all Demo's were like this. No speil, no flashy playing skills, No Piano. why is it always the Piano. These are synths. And this guy, has done such a great job, taking us through the patches. He has completley sold me. I dont want one. I need one. I think I'll just manage to get another synth in, where the cooker used to be. Thanks for a great Demo. Well done. come on you synth Demonstrators. this guy has set the standard.. LOL .
I have one! I have been dragging this thing around for at least 10 years. I am in the process of cleaning the contacts and getting it to properly work. I was going to throw it on ebay, that is how I found this video and comments
Who cares about that. I'm sure it's much heavier than Poly-800 maybe twice or thrice becouse of it's wood box. Yep, this tank is made of metal and wood chips.
I really miss my poly 61... ive been a korg man since i started playing, poly6, poly 61, dw 8000, M1, O1w, Trinity, then triton. i dont even remember what i did with my 61, loved it!! 80,s synthpop al the way,i remember the first song i learned on it, Spandau ballets "true( patch #12!!)
Sounds a little sharper. Nice envelopes here. If you don't want to sound like a Roland (ie like EVERYTHING), Korg's a good bet. At least with these polysynths.
No miks8. you can simulate pianosounds on this synth, maybe a good electro piano but thats it. the poly-61 is an analog synth not a digital like the roland xp-80
I didn't know how lucky I was when I scored a Poly 61 at the local flea market for $10.00. I took the keyboard apart and LOVINGLY cleaned each contact and now she works absolutely perfectly! I couldn't be more pleased. Actually that's not true... I got a Yamaha FB-01 that works flawlessly with the Poly 61 for $5.00! The MIDI cable to connect them was $15.00 so that really brought things int perspective for me. Oh Yeah. Great demo, I think I'll keep them rather than Ebay!
Actually, I hadn't thought about it like that... Sorry. I guess I was just so happy to have been able to get something that wouldn't normally have been on my radar and have this great opportunity to listen to new music and a new instrument to try that I didn't think about the effect of my comments on others. Once again, I apologize.

How much is one of these worth now in very good condition?

My first ever synth, fine tuned a good fat "jump" sound out of it. The new synths don't have the guts these old beasts did.

Just another question,
How much does this baby weigh?
Is it as heavy as the 106?

I seroiusly want one of these now, but I heard its difficult to find one in good working condition?
It reminds me alot of the sound of the Yamaha CS-80 for some reason.
SynthWho 3 years ago
You have to choose between good working order and nice shape. I don't know why.

Can someone give me the parameters for a great organ sound on the poly61?

Dude, I bought one of these new in November,
1983, in Charlotte. NC. Paid $1100 for it at
the old Reliable Music store. Lifelong regret
that I sold it. The DX-7 didn't much on this
bad boy.

how does this compare to a juno 6 or 60

this is a synthesizer, not a piano emulator.
