  • Nice simple design. Arcs are beautiful.

  • Dude, that is really cool, I like the design

  • Great video, and Tesla coil!

I'm just wondering, how many turns are your secondary? and what are the diameter of the coil?

    Thanks :D

  • can he works witch 24V ?

  • isnt that a tessla coil in the back ground at 1:30

  • @MrPopcanban Yes, it is one of the five or so projects I have sitting around waiting to be worked on. Going to school full time and working during the summer does not leave me with a huge amount of time sadly.

  • How would i change / tune the frequency , to operate my coil with this circuit?

My coil is 3.5" by 13" around 450 KHz res frequency would this circuit work for it?

and a smaller one at 800 Khz

i have built this driver but it only seems to oscillate way over my res frequency 0.o

have a frequency meter probe readin 1.4 - 2.7 Mhz

  • very neat.

  • The 4v bias starts the oscillation by allowing some current to flow through the FET.

The RF does not bother the monitor but does cause my keyboard to go nuts and type lots of random characters.

  • @cr99991 Any HV arcs within 10 feet of my TV causes it to lock-up and for the speakers to constantly hum, I have to physically cut power to it first to get it to work again!

  • Why is there a 4v bias on the gate? Also is the RF messing with anything it's right next to your monitor >.< GASP!!

  • Any idea on the amperage off the line side.

  • @sirHOAX About 2A at 120V RMS for a total of 240VA input power.

  • Awesome!

A nice TC and a schematic, just what i want!

also, what does "class E" actually mean?

  • @holycrapapie Class E is a topology that uses a critically dampened circuit to achieve near zero voltage switching of a FET to get very quiet and efficient operation.

  • Very nice! Could you give the details of the 47 uH toroid choke? This circuit is simple enough for me to try. Can you buy the choke or did you wind it yourself?

  • @helixwinder I wound it myself on a type 2 powdered iron core which I bought from Amidon. It has about 40 turns of 18AWG magnet wire on it and is about 1.25" outer diameter.

  • Ahhh, I see it now! Thank you very much! I might try this if I have time.

    Thanks Again!! :)

  • 60 volts on the gate? i'm surprised your mosfet hasn't blown up already!

  • @thevectorfilms My gate is protected by back to back zeners and the 60V centers around 4V or so, so my gate sees about -26V to 34V

  • Nice Job!!!

Very well done, and professionally made.

I dont suppose you have a link to the schematic?

Or do I need to pay?

    Regards,

    Mike
