  • who's the pianist??

  • @neody14 -Ron Pedley

  • That was fucking phenomenal! Does anyone know if there was a better recorded audio of this?

  • Maynard Ferguson has always tried to reach light speed with his tempos. I love it all

  • One of the best trombone solos ive heard. Loved it.

  • wow it felt like he was angry and getting alot of release from it. one of the best performances of take the A train i've ever seen.

  • the pianist should have been hunched over....

but i can't change what happened 28 years ago.....

  • maybe he's color blind and has to get close to see the dif between black and white keys :P

  • to you. No accounting for taste I guess.

  • Can no one recognize Maynard when you see/hear him?

  • absolutly amazing the band is great!

  • the pianist looked like she or he was like possessed with the piano but i t sounded good

  • i think it's Stan MARK on this video.

  • I think Stan Mark was the one who drove the limo for prom a few years ago.

  • terrible posture..

  • i love it!

    Bravo!!

  • The piano man is briliant!!!

  • I think the pianist was on drugs. But once the band kicks in -- those cats could swing!

  • IS MAYNARD THE CONDUCTOR!?

  • yep it looks like lol

  • The "A" Train, 8th Avenue Express, is still running. Let's take a ride.

  • I think that Mr. Ellington and Mr. Strayhorn would be smiling! MEGA kudos to the piano player, too!

  • I like what the pianist is doing at the begining, its different

  • I like the studio version batter. (Especially the trombone solo)

  • *better

  • FYI - the 1963 studio version has MF playing his behind off on the valve trombone, as well as te trumpet - and this is one of the best charts this band ever played - kudos to Don Sebesky!

  • Yes, and in 1963 my Brother bought that album an I listened to it every day for 6 mounths..I was 6..I was HOOKED on MF

  • The piano into is brilliant! Love the Lush Life quote in there. However I like the trombonist Chris Braymen even better. He plays his ass off!!!!!! What an amazingly talented man.

  • 1982

  • This piano player is UNBELEIVABLE!!!-what ideas with little strettos from the melody. For me it makes the chart that much more interesting. Thanks for the posting. What year?

  • Great !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gotta love Maynard.

But man, that pianist soloing at the beginning plays some strange chords.

  • strange chords and strange pants.

  • Yeah I really can't get into the pianist at the beginning, But once they cut loose it's great.

  • wow. this is amazing. do you have the file so i can have it for my own collection. i'd love to show my band director, but he's not too internet savvy, so i'd have to put it on my lappy and take it to him.

  • Thanks for posting this, AWESOME!
