  • that "snakes creeps down" is amazing.

He is so fluid, but strong. EXCELLENT.

  • luv'd every moment of it ^-^

  • There are a couple of moves in this that just amazing...people probably wont realize how are they would be to do and make look easy.

  • very nice! He covers an amazing amount of ground very quickly!

  • wow what a really good demonstartion of real kung fu, hard skill aquired through time!!! and practice!!

  • Show'em how it's done!!!

That was excellent!!! REAL Shaolin Fist!

  • @mymyharlow No problem! Glad to be of help!

  • @mymyharlow Wushu = Performance martial arts not combat martial arts that's the difference. Wushu is to Kung Fu what Gymnastics is to pre-gunpowder European combat methods. That's why in Wushu forms they use those floppy weapons that would never work in a real battle. It's for art not combat.

  • isnt it common sense...you know your question......wushu tournaments is for show performance, as in demostration....while tradional chinese martial arts is for combat, so the forms are more straight forward with a purpose. Its not that hard to understand....lol

  • Please tell me who is performing the form???

  • by the way this dahongquan is very good , the modern shaolin temple has fallen way off!!! few there now a days can compare with this demo. they seem to be disregarding the Qi completely and just doing majic tricks as hard Qigong demos

  • thaartofdez does not know what he is talking about. Wushu is a combination of 5 major traditional northern styles, It is not like XMA. This form is pure basic Shaolin, so it is linear and compact. wushu does have added aerial movements, however most are from the traditions of Cha fist, and hua fist which move around alot and in many directions. there are people who are brain washed into thinking that modern wushu has no tradition that is usualy because they know little of cha fist.

  • Traditional cha fist, and hua fist uses all of the same fancy but very effective and traditional techniques, and footwork. It is usually people who do not do these styles who scoff at modern wushu

these people often think that the form is fighting and hold it as a sacred thing that should not be changed or modified. but the truth is that the actual combat use of these techniques looks very different than it does in the form. the form is for basic training, you never hold to the form in combat.

  • yeah!

  • as well, what is impractical about running around and moving fast? In a fight with many people with swords and spears you better not stay in one place!!!!!!!!

many of these styles come from war time hence the name wushu, or "war arts". it is not like cage fighting or something to do in your living room!!!!!!!!

you will be much better off moving quickly if 8 people are chasing and fighting you, or if you are on a battle field with 1000 people in every direction!!!!!!!!!

    now that is the history

  • yup modern wushu was created from the 5 major styles of long fist, but the intent and focus is for show and performance. winning points n looking good, besides the aero jumps n flips the basic movements n techniques are from tradional forms with a purpose, the only difference is the intent which has shifted to sport instead of defense, so yea we know it has tradational roots, the applications just arent the meain focus anymore.

  • I agree, Modern wushu without traditional wushu is pathetic and it has gotten worse in the last 5 years as the understanding of the traditions has faded more and more. but Traditional wushu without modern wushu is not better! modern wushu can teach you how to move your body in every way possible way, while traditional styles each tend to be specializations for different body types and strategies. If you are a hard core traditionalist just remember that Modern wushu can be good cross training!

  • Wushu is kind of like the Extreme Martial Arts part of Karate (like steve terada). It' meant for demonstration and show. While forms like this is like your basic Karate forms that are traditional and actually have applicable techniques. I hope this helped =D

It's like And1 Streetballing versus actual NBA basketball

  • Yeah, it's "large flood fist", not red.

  • I KNEW IT!!!! IVE BEEN CORRECTED ON THE NAME OF THIS FORM BUT NOW I KNOW FOR SYRE ITS RED FIST...LARGE RED FIST AND THEREIS A SMALL RED FIST HAHAHAHAHA!!!....sorry

  • PLEASE HELP ! do somebody know style TANG JOU CHUAN FA ? where can i find something about it ?

    thx

  • Really, i have lived in china, this is a famous form. There is a Da hong quan, and a Xiao Hong Quan. Although the sound hong means red, it is a different character and meaning i assure you. It is not red fist, but Flood, or Torrent.

  • i like big red fist but i think small red fist shows more application and there is just something about i like so much it's my favourite form

  • This is a great video. Real traditional da hong quan. By the way Hong does NOT mean red in da hong quan. This is a common mis translation (chinese is difficult) The word hong means flood or torrent.

  • Thanks whoever put this forth - This is ORIGINAL Shaolin Dahong Quan from Qing Dynasty - Comparing to Master Shi De Yand below in orange uniform, every single move is present - Observ the frames carefully - its extended Dahong!

  • Awsome

  • Fantastic!

  • It's nice to finally see some real skills using the tag word "martial arts"

  • Not bad!

  • This is very good!!!!!
