Good video. I've had problems with my crappy crimps failing on my motorcycle and you know those critical splices are just waiting for you to get way out there before they fail. Additionally, any loose wires increase the resistance in the splice. So soldering with heat shrink tubing is going to be how I do electrical work on my bikes in the future.
I'd probably do the same. It may take a little more time, but like you said not everyone has professional crimping tools. Good solder is far cheaper, you can get allot of uses out of it, if you buy a big enough roll and extreme audiophiles solder all of their ends onto the terminals of their speakers and crossovers. So it's been a chosen way of hooking up speakers for years. :)
Good video, but in practice, the cables aren't going to be pulled on with such stress so you may get away with doing crimps instead. Though soldering will allow for more contact and thus yield better results.
Also, what did you have to do to your thumb to get 18 stitches?
@M3RVITIS True I was pulling pretty hard. But it helps prove my point. Like all the crazy things they do in tv commercials.
And the stitches? I got in a fight with a table saw......and lost.... bad...... Its been a couple months now and my thumb is still lumpy from scar tissue and I only have about 90% feeling and mobility of my thumb. Thats probably as good as it will ever get.

thanks for the comparison. I was looking to buy a crimper for a one time use. You just convinced me to just solder it.
