as fast as its getting late and im lying in bed watching youtube, i start seraching for food.. oriental food is my favorite just before i go to sleep :D
From when I was a kid, long ago, one of my favorites to get at the food stales, help me with the spelling please was gai see mean. Really yummy strips of chicken with gravy over noodles, which also makes me think of a chopped bbq pork, saucey over rice. If I can spell them, then I can find them. Help please. Singapore's got the most kickin' food!
Terima Kasih Seetoh for sharing a sumptuous recipe of hokkien mee, I had this last time I was in SG Feb 2010 with my bestfriend, sister and hubby, and enjoyed it at Makansutra near Esplanade... also had oyster omelet (luak)... yum-o:-D

Oh i remember i had the hardest time telling another chink not to put shrimp on my fried rice. i had to rephrase it so many times and he still didn't understand me. then after the 20'th attempt on telling the guy not to put shrimp i finally used the word prawn. I was like O.M.G.
@mingemil yes, americans have a hard time in singapore with the words PRAWN and SHRIMP! to asians, 'shrimp' is fish bait...coz it's the tiny stuff. a single PRAWN will fill the whole mouth! LOL it took me about 10 years of living in the states to forgo saying 'prawn' coz i got nothing but funny looks from people! lol
@thubbster well its because people these are not culturaly divers. I know that in america they call prawns shrimp and capsicums peppers and or bell peppers. I saw a vid here called chinese pepper beef and some idiot was insulting people asked where is the pepper (the spice) yet not all countires say bell peppers i know polish people call it paprika and the brits and Aussies say capsicum :D

@sgtoca I did too! then I found out most of them are just dumb. one chink didn't understand when i told her i wanted iced tea. then when i asked for the fifth time while pointing at the display i wanted iced tea her co worker told her i wanted iced tea. when i asked her how to say the name of the drink she said "iced lemon tea" ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?"
Wow! taste good... ill cook this later... thanks...

ya, but still, why fish and meat together? it tastes ok, but would not it be better with only one, meat OR fish?
MsSaunataga 1 year ago
@MsSaunataga
Its the blend of the pork and prawn stock that characterizes the dish, it wouldn't be the same if it were only meat or fish.
zzajizz 1 year ago
@MsSaunataga you would think...but the combination is outta this world. believe me...it's heavenly. pork and shrimp are a great combination.
