Send this series to every spoiled westerner you know, especially African Americans, who often complain about how difficult life is for them in America. In reality, they are just people who refuse to go to school, even though all the opportunities exist for them to do so.
@21wf Dude you are not even of African decent therefore you have no right to talk bad about African Americans. For your information most of those useless teachers mostly in the inner city are not there to teach. they are just there for health benefits and to collect a paycheck they do not care about teaching that,s reality so get out of your fantasy world. Lucky for me I was blessed with good teachers. please view videos by Umar Johnson please before you type something else retarded.
You never get this kind of program in North America. CNN and CBC are bullshit. At least BBC attempts to enlighten our ignorant, over indulgent Western Society about how the other half lives.
@DClean Seriously? Do you actually watch CBC? Rick Mercer, The Passionate Eye, etc. I just watched a documentary on the Mexican Drug War on CBC. There is a huge Nigerian community in England, that's why this series was produced. I'm sure there are equally interesting, inspiring stories in El Salvador, Azerbaijan, or Papua New Guinea. Regardless, I'd still love to see similar programming consistently aired. Welcome to Lagos is such an eye-opener!
Lagos need rebuilding > All the roads very bad > Trafic completely is very very bad > Go slow all time 24/7 >> electricity very bad >> clean drinking water not avilable>>> telephone network all time busy and bad>>>> there is no infrastructure at all >>> and crimes level is to high> > and many things others . the work you can do it in the developed countres withn one day here in lagos you need 15 day
i dont know bbc's true intentions for documenting this. but it's been very inspiring so far, and it goes a lng way to show that not all nigerians are fraudsters. there are thousands, who work hard to earn a living. as for the racism thing, it dosent bother me at all. prove urself, and u will earn respect wherever u find urself in life
BBC has outdone itself in racism once again. Why don't they make a documentary documenting the greatness of black civilizations like Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, the empire of Alexander the Great, or the various black emperors and senators of Rome, or of the great West African empires? All black people are to them are slum dwellers, which couldn't be further from the truth when we were the rulers and originators of Western civilization.
@ehimwenmaaimiuwu Because they already have my friend. It was a series called Lost Kingdoms of Africa, and it charted the fates of various civilisations such as Nubia, Ethiopia, Mali and Great Zimbabwe. It was screened about a year ago, and was presented by the man who narrates this program I believe. You can find them all on youtube...
@ehimwenmaaimiuwu LOL black people are most certainly NOT rulers or originators of Western civilization. First off the Ancient Egyptians were NOT black. Just as modern day Arabs, Ancient Egypt, being NORTH of the Sahara was a civilization of North African people who were not and are not black. Black Africans are strictly from Sub-Saharan Africa. The Nubian empire (modern-day Sudan) was black yes, but the Egyptians were not. Rome and Greece were not and are not black.
@Menchjah What can I say? The Whites have done well in brainwashing you. The Ancient Egyptians looked nothing like modern Egyptians and are negroid, just look at the face of the Sphinx. The evidence in support of the negroid identity Ancient Egyptians are overwhelming. Egyptian civilization originated from negroids, but the white man, eventually invaded and took over. They lack creativity but used aggression to hijack black culture, even to this day.
@Menchjah No, I never said that continents were never more than arbitrary divisions, however, black people did at one time populate the entire continent before whites invaded North Africa, including Egypt.
@thehustlerscorner no, here in Switzerland is not bad. here we are just racist to people who don't work. so, here it doesn't matter which you have, here it matters who you are and what you have in your brain. skin colour doesn't matter.
but, I am also a bit upset with justice here. they are just too soft with people who do shit. they should be harder sometimes.

Good lord! I lived in Lagos but never realized these things... But really, i know the State government is really trying to alleviate poverty, how do they start in a place like this?
...Reality Bites - why are some of us don't like to hear and see the truth??? this is a fantastic documentary and we should deal wit our problems in Nigeria to make it a better place. Thanx to all the production team behind this programme. God Bless Nigeria.

Great piece of work BBC!! Truthful, honest and extremely fascinating documentary!! This is what Fela Kuti sings about in his music. Lagos state government, hopefully will do something about it. And give the people some assistance. Signed ~By a Nigerian.

@rezek71 you mean if someone dropped a bomb on where you stay? The only person who thinks it's a misery, is you..they seem happy and content..
