  • Memories of roller skating in a tent rink really retro as it comes

  • A very joyful and happy song.

  • The girls were made of the real thing and not plastic! No fake parts.

  • @billeybop You are so right!!! We are the real thing and always will be!!!! :)

  • @MsWS6 No doubt about it! I've never seen so many girls that look and act the same. My hats off to the true "originals" !

  • @billeybop :):):):)

  • You never know what you have until you lose it! Sweet music!

  • Pretty much sounds to me like she ain't yore baby.

  • I THINK THAT WAS THE A & W IN PETALUMA CALIFORNIA SEEN IN THE MOVIE GREASE.

  • A & W ROOTBEER 1962 AND 1957 CHEVY THE WHITE CAR WAS AN MG

  • Now I know where Bryan Ferry got his idea for 'Dance Away'.

  • I got a new girl now

  • Love this -- it just grabs you and NEVER lets up ... I'm glad this one is so HOT, because the later hit "silence is golden" absolutely puts me to SLEEP .... haaaa !

  • Great music! Many thanks to the uploader!

  • Yeah. We had problems back then. Am I gonna get laid this weekend? We sure as hell weren't worried about whether some asshole was going to blow himself and his car up in some crowd. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?

  • Love finding these old songs. Back then we didn't always get the opportunity to have a recording of the groups performing the songs. So we make do with a vid that someone put the effort into to put with the song. Thanks for the time and effort you put into it. Who cares what it has on it as long as the pics are of the good ol days. AND are tasteful. Hmmm...maybe you should take up the suggestion of putting an aircraft carrier in a vid...LOL!!!

  • whoever put the pictures up for this song..needs a lesson in how to edit a video using the words of the song to go with the visuals...im surprized they didnt include a aircraft carrier in here somewhere.

  • Who was the lead singer for this song?

  • I cannot count the number of times I've listened to this one. Both Vinyl and Tape. For some reason ( which is great about music ) it touches something deep in my soul which cannot be explained.

  • USED TO LISTEN TO THIS IN MY BROTHERS 61 OLD "98" CONVERTIBLE AM RADIO WITH SPEAKER IN THE BACK SEAT

  • Makes recall 2 or 3 girls.

  • In 1967 I used to cycle 5 miles to school singing these songs and wishing there was such a thing as a small transistor radio or tape recorder that I could put in my pocket and listen to with headphones.

So, Mr Apple, I claim my royalties for your Ipod that I invented!

I'll take a couple of million and we'll call it quits. Even dollars, if you havent got UK pounds. Not Euros though.

  • I listened to this song on my grandma's old fashioned radio back in the '60s!

  • I remember the long neck pop-bottles in the 70s and early 80s, your user-name made me think of that.

  • any baby boomers should be proud that we grew up with the best music ever made for us .. must've been the greatest music ever written ! hummm lets see did china have great 60's music how about iraq doubt it. we are all lucky to be from the USA . the greatest country on earth ,,check out working class hero John Lennon

  • 1955-1985 has been called The Golden Age Of Rock 'N Roll. This is true beyond debate! Elvis doing Can't Help Falling In Love vs. 50 Cent? No contest!

  • @sixtiesrockboy My sentiments Exactly!! 55-85 very rare something after that period was as good as this ole happy stuff, only very pale imitations!! HNY ;-)

  • @RonsBestofHollywood Thanks for that memory and view of a Drive-In back then.

  • @1BlubeTube : I like the '57 Olds.

  • @terrafirma91 I own a 2000 Olds Alero. It probably corners better than that 57 Olds but it rides like a brick. Bring back those 4,000+ lb. cars with the high white sidewall tires.

  • I used to crank this up in my 1948 dodge deluxe radio Lots of chrome on it.

  • I really love how they use to dress back in the 50's and 60's. Times right now, it's not even the same as before. I need a time machine.

  • UAGRanger -you are wise beyond you years, young man/woman.

  • Yeah!... Wow, I forgot about that song. I want a do-over.

  • This song was infectious....no two ways about it....!!!!

  • I like that picture at 1:20-1:24.

  • always thought this would be cover song for The Cure.

  • Where has the time gone in my life.

    Years, Decades Gone,

    But I still Remember.

  • @desert3347 I remember as well, and when I do I can't help but smile!

  • wish I had a time machine I would go back and never return.

  • I was reincarnated yesterday and I love this song.Hoping to go through a time warp tomorrow so that I can go back to that period of great music. Oh! Wait I was just Deja vuing. Sorry,Me Bad!

  • yee haaa

  • great music back then

  • Absolutely brilliant song, still sounds so good !

  • I hate when the intro is cut off. It really gives the song a feeling of raucous spontaneity and fun.

  • reminds me of a car,a girl,and a few friends back about 1967-68.

  • i was born in 2008 and i love this song (:

  • 1950 here, and yep 60's were the best.

  • I was born in July 1946, beat that! All the '60s' are the best.

  • @GilgilKenya Ain't that the truth!!

  • LMAO I found my 1972 diary from when I lived in London and I had wrote the name of the song and group in the back of it! So many memories and I actually used terms like "gor, tasty geezers" ansd "cheesed off." Nothing quite like groing up in London in the 70"s!

  • @loobyloo1955 LOL!! I say ''cheesed off'' nowadays, still I hate todays phrases...the word ''reem'' gets on my wick!

  • I was born in 1997 and think that this was the best era for music.

  • @MemoryGnome Good God, I graduated high school that year lol... damn I feel old.... love this song and era.

  • Listening to this, you can actually understand why Decca chose them over the Beatles.

  • Excellent. Need more cowbell.

  • that's not the song i am looking for

  • One day everyone who lived through the 60s will be gone, but their memories living with this great, great background music will stay.

  • Oh the memories. What a great time.

  • And I had no idea the former Cat Stevens wrote this. makes it even cooler

  • Always thought the lead singer sounded like Bobby Sherman. GREAT song, this.

  • I went one step beyond. I moved to the jungle in the Philippines. As long as I have youtube, all is fine. Added hint....drop your expenses by about 2/3.

  • empress: I agree with you completly. I'm 61, and the only fond memories I have are songs like this. L.A. was a nice place in '67 but I would not go there now for love or money. But, traveling the country is not my idea of fun. I'm so glad I DON'T HAVE TO WORK ANYMORE!

  • @radicright More power to you brother. As long as you have your health sit back and enjoys these great tunes from our generation!

  • Who's the woman at 0:55? My wife has this picture in the living room but we don't know who it is!

  • @ofsirfrankiecrisp

    It's Grace Kelly.

  • @ofsirfrankiecrisp Grace Kelly.

  • At the 2:15 mark there's a picture of an old A&W. Priceless !

  • Hello, All. Great tune. I just recalled that in the very early 70's, while working for a carpet company on the 13th Floor of Chicago's mammoth Merchandise Mart, one of the young salesmen from the carpet company next door named MIKE BAER informed me that he had been one of the back-up musicians on this record. So, I guess his strumming is in here somewhere. Peace, Love to ALL.

  • sept l949 here dude

  • I've got everybody beat, I was born in October 1950.

  • less whistling MORE COWBELL

  • Still sounds good after 40 years,is it forty years ago--hell.

  • since everyone is saying the year they were born, i was born in '93, and i say the 50's and 60's were the golden age of music.

  • @UAGRanger AGREED. 90's babys rule lol

  • @UAGRanger Dude, you took the words right out of my mouth except I was born in '92.

"Golden age of music," I've been saying that since I first found the beatles lol

  • @UAGRanger Born in 1945 and you are right about Golden Era: 1955 to 79 or thereabouts

  • @UAGRanger

    Yeah Baby . . Groovy!

  • UAGRanger - and so is 70s and 80s...............

  • @UAGRanger Nobody can control the year they were born, however, we CAN all decide which musical era was the greatest, and I totally agree with you. BTW, I was born in '54. Yes, I actually grew up listening to this !!

  • Wish girls looked like that now

  • LOVE IT !!!!!!!!

  • and though it's old and i'm young: i love this song!!

  • Interesting comments about work! I guess it's a necessary evil. Bees need to collect pollen, birds need to build nests - there's no way out of it for most. Still find it stifling though!! :-)

    Great tune.

  • Does anyone whistle anymore?? This is just a HAPPY number and a great one to dance to......at least @!x£!! years ago!!

  • Comment removed

  • Even sixty year olds think capzlock is cruise control for cool.

  • This is such a fun song - reminds me of those warm, summer days back in the '60s - a real sing-a-long, and terrific whistling as well!

  • I was born in 1946 and I left the rat race 7 years ago. Best thing I ever did with an early retirement package. Now living the life of Riley.

  • This is a such sad song of words but with such a happy sound and instruments. I love it, let her go. Bravo

  • I like sons of admirals better...such a good song though....

  • Someone build me a time machine and take me back to the 60s.

it was as if I lived in another world

  • A&W Root Beer Drive-In, with the pretty gals come out to your car on roller skates, and put a tray hanging from you window, and take your order. I remember that!!!

  • Cat Stevens!! What a flake!!! Traitor!!!

  • @aspenrebel No shit. He had a talent and then he went on to become a piece of shit muslim.

  • I always thought it was strange that such a fun, upbeat song should have such depressing lyriscs. You'd thiink they would be singing about a happy, successful love affair, not a failed one.

Still, this is one of my favorite songs of all time, I was 17 when this came out, and it seems songs stick with you the most when you hear them around that age.

Regardless of what you think about Cat Stevens' politics, he sure wrote some good songs

  • When this first came out I thought it was by the Dave Clark Five, but once I didn't hear any sax in it I figured that it had to be another group. Great makes-you-feel-good song.

  • Glad to see classics like this being posted for all to witness and appreciate what real music is all about. Thanks!

  • 17 LOSERS. what more can be said. poor souls, don't know a great song/band if it hit them between the eyes. hahaha

  • Saw them on a pbs reunion show. Even now they had fun doing this cut.

  • Well, you know what they say. If you can remember the 60's......you weren't there.

  • In 1968 we danced so hard & long to this record that we had to shower at least twice during a typical party. My friends, the time and the music made my 21st year the best of my life. Some say that your best year shouldn't be 43 years ago but I say, "what does it matter?" The memories still burn bright in my mind, heart and soul ~ and I wouldn't trade that year and those memories for all of my life's future. Honestly.......

  • The Tremeloes always sounded like they were having one hell-uva great time performing this classic song, Brilliant sound !! wish I was still there.

  • alex and charlie?

  • i love this. always gives me perfect vibes. the tremeloes. what a band

  • whatever happened to this kind of music? what have we done to deserve all that rubbish that's on the radio these days?! gosh, I want the good old times back!!!

  • Just one of several recording artist whose name was inspired by Fender musical instruments (the Tremelo bar is a Fender feature on their Stratocaster). Can you name of Fender-inspired acts?

  • heard this in a London shop recently. So upbeat and jolly..what has happened to songs like this??

We need more of them.Great oldie, really love it.

  • A great chase away the blues song. Pop radio was never so good

  • Good Luck and Enjoy the rest of your life. Keep active and have a reason to get up everyday or your life will be cut short- statistically speaking.I cant wait to retire as well.

  • A whole new version of TELSTAR by THE DUELLING PIANOS. Please check it out!

  • I was born in 83 but the tremeloes are one of my favourite bands.

  • Whistling FTW!

  • 16 people are fucking wankers. Not to mention jumped-up pricks.

  • Who is the picture at 0:50 of? Eva Marie Saint?

  • @Puska35M It is the late Princess Grace of Monaco, a former post-WWII screen actress in the U.S.

  • @utubemusiccritic Grace Kelly!

  • Purely my thoughts.Best 10 years of music 65-75.

  • @mrREDBIRDFAN Don't forget 1964. Beatles?!

  • @utubemusiccritic : Some brainy executives at Decca Records signed the Temelos instead of the Beatles...How'd you like to have that on your resume.

  • Great memories and yep thank God we were born when we were! This songs transports you back to awesome times HAPPY 2011

  • great song. loved it when i played it on a 45 all those years ago and still do.

  • Thank you for bringing back 2 minutes and 49 seconds of the happiest times of my life.

  • like if sons of admirals brought you here : D

  • if this was released now it would make NO 1 its a great song

  • I remember being at an antique store in Lexington, VA and found this vinyl...I think my heart skipped a beat I was so excited to listen to this as it was intended to be listened to. With a needle and a turntable

  • impresionanteeeeeeee

  • Comparing this against the Sons of Admirals, I just want to say, the Admirals went down with the ship.....this version is the real deal.

  • Give me liberty or give me more of that Cowbell...what a classic from a long, gone great era...

  • At the A&W...1961 Chevy, 1957 Olds and a Corvair...before that a MGB GT

  • cat stevens.

  • @MrtacoO - that's Grace Kelly

  • @MrtacoO PRINCESS GRACE...(Kelly)

  • I love the opening of this song .

  • @irelandbacktoirish Just enough cowbell. ; )

  • WHEN THIS SONG CAME OUT I WAS 13 (HAD JUST STARTED AT A NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL) IT STILL SOUNDS GREAT (SOME 44 YEARS AGO) SO THE MEMORIES OF THOSE TIMES ARE SOMEWHAT BITTER/SWEET. I ALSO LIKE CAT STEVENS VERSION (FIRST HEARD ON A CD OF HIS GREATEST HITS)

  • Sounds like a great party in the studio, probably part of a 'happening', like "All You Need Is Love. Heard the other versions, good, but they are just sooooooooo reverent.
